    HOLY CHILD COLLEGES OF BUTUAN

2nd St. Guingona Subdivision, Butuan City

    SYLLABUS

    I. Course No.: CS11

II. Course Title: Network Management Credits: 3 units

    III. Course Description:

This subject introduces the students to they key concepts of data communications, telecommunications, and

networking. It provides a solid introduction to networking fundamentals including key acronyms, protocols,

and components that are essentials to understanding how networks operate. Students will master the OSI

Reference Model a model designed to facilitate an understanding of what happens in a network. Upon

completion, the students will have a solid understanding of how information travels from a sources computer

to a destination computer across a complex network.

    Pre-requisite: IT 105 Computer Organization

    IV. Course Objectives:

At the end of the course the students are expected to:

    1. identify the different types

    3. describe how protocols are used by computers to send receive information

    4. understand how addresses are used by computers to send and receive information

    5. identify the flow of information between two communicating computers

    6. describe current technologies used in local area networks (LANs)

    7. describe current technologies used in wide area networks(WANs)8. identify when to use a switch, hub, or router.
