Tennessee General Assembly − Senate Introduction – Alphabetical Listing
This is an alphabetical listing of every Tennessee state senator from 1794 to 2010. Senators are listed
by last name, first name or however, in some cases only the initials can be found.
The most common questions asked by patrons of the Tennessee State Library and Archives staff about
our state legislators are their birth and death dates, number in which they served in the General
Assembly, political party, home county represented and religious affiliation.
The senators’ birth, death date and religious affiliation are listed if known. Even though political
parties as we think of them today were not listed until 1887, the Biographical Directory of the
Tennessee General Assembly by Dan Robison and Robert M. McBride provided the party affiliations
of our early State Senators.
