With more than 30 New York Guern-seys parading the tanbark this year, breeders from all over took notice as many placed in the top of deep classes and went on to take cham-
pion honors.
Monument View JT Rumor, bred and owned by Trey Duval of Greenwich was the winning Fall Yearling at the New York State Fair and went on to place in the top four at three national shows. Rumor then ended the season as the Reserve Junior Champion of the
Junior Show at the NAILE in Louisville, KY.
This wasn’t the only monumental year that Rumor had, as last year she was nominat-ed All American Fall Calf after placing 2nd at both the Open and Junior Shows at the All
American Dairy Show in Harrisburg, PA.
Rumor, a Welcome JT-ET daughter, comes from Monument View Loco Regan. Re-gan was the All American Four Year Old in 2010 after winning Grand Champion honors at the All American Dairy Show, the World Dairy Expo Junior Show, and Supreme Champion at
the All American Junior Show.
Along with Rumor, two Fall Calves took the spotlight at the World Dairy Expo. Wee-Kin Farm Yogi Susan-ET, bred by Betsy McKenna, and Luckyvale Grumpy Kaz-ET, bred by Kristen Gallagher, took 2nd and 3rd place at the WDE and were both sold in the 2014 New York Spring Carousel Guernsey
Sale earlier this year.
Susan-ET was purchased by Donna Whalen of Friendship Farm and Kaz-ET went to the state of Washington after being pur-
chased by Rex Ferris.
Wayne Foote, president of New York Guernsey, said “New York has a lot to be proud of this year. With so many winning ani-mals, breeders should be proud of just how much the Guernsey breed has excelled over
recent years!”
At the November meeting, directors passed a motion to change membership to
January 1st thru December 31st.
This change comes after a review of New York Guernsey Breeders’ Coopera-tive bylaws which state that a membership
year begins January 1st.
Though these changes will be in effect starting in 2015, there will be no ad-justment on membership services such as receiving the Guernsey Journal or attend-
ance to New York Guernsey events.
With these changes, director’s are now urging current members to reach out to new Guernsey breeders and enthusiasts to
become members of New York Guernsey!
Membership applications can be
found at www.nyguernseybreeders.com!
If there is any questions about the changes, please feel free to contact Wayne
Foote at (518)744-7943.

The Board of Directors met in Syracuse
on Saturday, November 15, 2014 as President,
Wayne Foote called the meeting to order at 10 a.m..
Following the approval of the previous
meeting minutes as well as the treasurers report,
director Eric Craig discussed the 2014 Spring Carou-
sel Sale which averaged $2,612 and was one of the
highest sale averages to date. Craig stated that the
2015 Sale will once again be held in the Poultry Barn
at the State fairgrounds and will be taking place on
April 10, 2015. After his report, Craig was then nomi-
nated to serve as the 2015 Sale Chair and encour-
aged directors to help find more volunteers for the
upcoming sale.
David Coon, newly elected District I Na-
tional Director, presented the AGA National report
which announced that Executive Secretary, Lewis
Jones, will not be continuing with the AGA following
the expiration of this contract year. Furthermore, Ida
Albert is no longer with the AGA after retiring in the
Fall. In the conclusion of this report, Coon stated that
the AGA is in a tough financial state and will need to
be restructured and reorganized to ensure future
success of the American Guernsey Association.
Dick Whalen, 2nd Vice President, reported
that the 2015 New York Spring Carousel Show will
be judged by Jeff Stephens and will take place on
April 11th at 1 p.m. Whalen stressed the need for an
increase in Guernsey show numbers but stated that
the quality of the sale has been remarkable in recent
years.
Foote then discussed the expiring director
terms for Eric Craig, Terry Neuroth, Sharon Littlefield
and MaryBeth Trombly as Coon was nominated to
serve as the chair for the nomination committee for
2015.
Alison Littlefield, membership chair, deliv-
ered a report of new membership for 2014. After
discussion, David Coon moved to change the mem-
bership calendar year to January 1st thru December
31st to coincide with New York Guernsey Bylaws.
After debate, it was passed to change the member-
ship calendar year.
Cathy Littlefield announced that the 2015
Protein Breeds Luncheon will take place on January
16th in Utica and that Mary Foote would be present-
ing on behalf of New York Guernsey Breeders.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Mary
Foote discussed fundraising plans for the 2017 Na-
tional Convention. It was then moved to donate
$2,500 into the 2017 National Guernsey Convention
fund to help fund start up costs of convention.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:01 p.m..

As another season has come and gone, we look to the future and the upcoming events while reflect-ing upon the events that have passed. This past summer and fall was full of
county fairs across the state, a very competi-tive state junior show and many junior mem-bers taking the tanbark trail by storm.
I would like to congratulate and thank all members that took the opportunity to show this season! It may seem like the shows just ended, but it’s time to think about the events that are soon approaching!
The Annual Meeting is just months away and applications for achievement and production awards as well as Distinguished Junior Member applications will be due Feb-
ruary 15th on www.nyguernseybreeders.com. All those interested in applying for jun-
ior awards should begin to look at the applica-tions and start to compile the information need-ed so that you’re not rushed for time and can take advantage of this great opportunity.
As the Annual Meeting is approaching, you should also consider the great opportunities available to you in this organization! Such as running for an officer position. Elections will take place at the junior meeting and these are great opportunities to take advantage of leader-ship roles!
The AGA is also offering several op-portunities for junior members such as scholar-ships and awards that are due March 31st. Check www.usguernsey.com for applications and details.
This has yet again been another suc-cessful and exciting year to be involved in the Guernsey industry in New York State. As we celebrate the year that has come to an end we must look to the future and the opportunities the new year holds.

As National Convention preparations are officially under way, word has spread that New York will be hosting the 2017 National Guernsey Convention and now breeders from all over the nation have expressed their excite-ment to come to New York! Mark your calendars as the dates have officially been set for convention for Mon-day, June 26, 2017 thru Saturday, July 1st! Though convention is two and a half years away, fundraising efforts officially kicked off in November as the financial committee aims to make it one of the most financially affordable yet best conventions in recent
years! Dick and Judy Whalen of Friendship Farm were the first contributors to convention as they sponsored the funds for a start up account followed by the NY Guernsey Board of Directors donating $2,500 the Convention! Throughout the next year, New York Guernsey Breeders will be reaching out to potential business sponsors for convention! If you are interested in seeking donations, please contact Mary Foote at [email protected] for donation letters and information sheets as well as a list of previous-ly contacted businesses!
Over the past couple of years, the sale
of strictly A2 milk has taken off all throughout
European countries as well as Australia and
New Zealand.
Many dairymen are predicting that this
trend is soon to take off in North America which
has led to many Guernsey herds testing their
cattle to determine how many produce the A2
protein.
If you are interested in getting your
herd tested or have questions about A2 please
contact the American Guernsey Association or
check www.usguernseys.com!
Some New York herds have also test-
ed their herds! For more information contact
Wayne Foote at 518-744-7943.
