Membrane Bio Reactor (MBR) 1. Introduction Membrane Bio Reactor (MBR) is the combination of a membrane process like microfiltration or ultrafiltration with a suspended growth bioreactor, and is now widely used for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment. This treatment process replaces final sedimentation tank in activated sludge process by membrane process to perform solid-liquid separation. Due to it being a very technical solution; it needs expert design and skilled workers. Furthermore, it is a costly but efficient treatment possibility. With the MBR technology, it is possible for downsizing, simplifying treatment facilities, recycling treated water and upgrade old wastewater plants. 2. Membrane Bio Reactor (MBR) is the combination of a membrane process like
