September 2014 ©2014 Alnavco MEMO FROM PETE PASCHALL Some interesting new items for you in this issue: Superior is in the process of issuing a never-was BB from Japan and has reissued the never-weres SOUTH DAKOTA 1921/23, H-39 and LION. Neptun, Kraus, Saratoga, Mountford and GHQ have also added to their fleets. A word about Superior: Our casters have just finished moving to a new location so shipments have been a bit sparse. However, these new facilities should result in better production which is good news for Superior modelers. Note below we have already received many restocks. The Report gives you information on new and recent releases by our manufactures. There is a difference between “New” and “Recent.” Obviously not all our manufacturers issue new items at the same time so much in each issue could be classified as “Recent.” For more timely information on what’s new, be sure you are on our email list. If you haven’t received an email in the past month or so, you are not on that list. Just email us with a request and we’ll make sure you are added to it. Also make sure you are a member on our Facebook page for photos of our collectors’ work and discussion on modeling and naval history…and do send us photos of your work and throw in a comment now and then! You’ll even find a little humor from Sue and what’s going on militarily in the Hampton Roads area. Some reminders: For a terrific source of model painting information, go to the Snyder & Short website at www. shipcamouflage.com. Here you will find books on camouflage schemes in WWII, paint chips and a very extensive line of warship paints. In times of crisis, a president or two has asked the question “Where are the carriers?” You can know this at the same time he does by going to the website www.gonavyjp/CV locations (or just Google “CV locations.”) This will tell you where our CVN’s are, what air groups are embarked and what each CV’s status is. Also, we have posted this issue on our website so you can see the photos in color. As always, Sue, Pete Jr. and I wish to thank you for your orders, They are all very much appreciated. Our 50th anniversary coming up in less than six months!
