The laboratory's portion of this Case consisted of 3-soil samples collected on May 25. 1999.
The laboratory reported _No_ problem(s) with the receipt of these samples.
The laboratory reported No problems with the analyses of Total Lead and TCLP Lead - inorganic parameters.
The evaluator has commented on the criteria specified under each fraction heading. All criteria have been assessed, but no discussion is given where the evaluator has determined that criteria were adequately performed or require no comment. A red-line drawn through a sample result indicates an unusable value. The red-lined data are known to contain significant errors based on documented information and must not be used by the data user.

A.2.2 The data assessment is given below and on the attached sheets.
On 25 May 1999, USEPA Region II sampling personnel collected three (03) soil samples from the Vega Baja Landfill Site, 5374 Santa Maria Street, El Rosario Ward, Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. Within twenty-four hours of collection, samples for Total lead & TCLP lead were shipped via overnight Federal Express courier to Mitkem Corporation; (MITKEM), 175 Metro Center Blvd, Warwick, Rhode Island. The laboratory verified that samples were received intact, properly preserved and in sealed shipping containers.
The soil samples were analyzed for Total lead and TCLP lead following the Contract Laboratory Program (CLP) Statement of Work (SOW) number ILM04.1

CASE DESCRIPTION: RFP # 4775 consists of 03 soil samples from the Vega Baja Landfill Site.
TAL Metals & TCLP Metals:
Holding times: All samples were analyzed within six months; holding times were not exceeded.
CALIBRATION: The correlation coefficient (r^) of standard concentration versus absorbance readings is greater than (>) 0.995 for linear calibration curves generated in the data package.
RAW DATA: The laboratory provided the supporting raw data for this package. This data package contains summary of analytical results, blank results, initial & continuing calibration recovery, spike sample recovery, lab duplicate results, laboratory control sample results, serial dilution summary and analysis run log.
INITLVL CALIBRATION VERIFICATION/CONTINUING CALIBRATION VERIFICATION: ICV/CCV were run at appropriate intervals as noted on the Calibration Summary form. All ICV/CCV recoveries are within the acceptable range of 90 to 110%.

SAMPLE DISPATCH DATA:
Two soil samples, including one field duplicate and extra volume for miatrix spike/matrix spike duplicate (MS/NISD) samples were collected.
The samples were delivered by START personnel to Mitkem Corporation through Federal Express. (See Attachment 2 - Chain of Custody). The analytical turnaround time requested by the OSC was 48 hours for verbal and two weeks for written results.
