Help Billy Find a Safe Buddy Memory Game

Objective: Match Billy to his buddies — matching cards have the same colour background, with one card having a picture of Billy and the other card having a picture of a buddy.

Before starting the game:Explain to children that there is safety in numbers and having someone with them when they are going places helps keep them safe.A buddy should be someone who can supervise a child, such as a:

mom dad grandma grandpa older sister older brotherbabysitter

Instructions:1. Start with all cards facing down.

2. Turn over one card, and then turn over a second card to find its match.

Every time cards are turned over, ask, “Is this a safe buddy for Billy?”

If the card is a friend, say, “No, Billy is only 7 years old and needs someone who can supervise him. This is not a safe buddy.”

If the card is Billy’s mom, grandma, grandpa, or older brother, say, “Yes, this is a safe buddy for Billy.”

3. If the two cards do not match, turn them back over. If the cards match, remove those cards from the game.

4. Repeat until all pairs are matched.
