WELCOME FROM FINA PRESIDENTIt is my great pleasure to welcome all the participants to the 17thFINA World Mens Junior Water Polo Championships taking placein Szombathely (HUN) from August 12-18, 2013.

With the participation of our best junior teams, this occasion will beonce more a landmark in the promotion of this discipline. WaterPolo, the oldest Olympic team sport, is conquering more audience,

more media and television interest, and is generating substantialwork and attention from the FINA Member National Federations,clubs, players and referees.

Team spirit and individual search for improvement are the two basic characteristics of WaterPolo. Such philosophy will be present during this competition and the participating playerswill be an example of fair-play for the youth and all water polo fans worldwide.

I take the opportunity to express my gratitude to the Hungarian Water Polo Federation, theOrganising Committee and the local authorities for their warm hospitality in Szombathely and

enthusiastic spirit. I am sure that our best junior water polo teams will keep an excellentmemory of this competition. I am also certain that the championships will delight the fans andinspire the sports future stars.

My gratitude also goes to all those involved in the promotion of this event, namely thespectators, media representatives and sponsors. Thanks to the players, coaches and officialsfor their hard work and excellent performances which enhance Water Polos imageworldwide.

Dear Guests!

Its an honor to welcome you here in Szombathely the Sportstown ofthe Nation. Our town is proud to have many world-, European- andOlympic champions. At the Olympic Games of London our town gave

a gold medalist Pars Krisztin and a bronze medalist Hatos Gborfor the Hungarian Sport.

Water Polo is one of the countrys favorite sports so this is not asurprise that the National team is always processing a good chance. Wewould like Szombathely to join to this sport and give more sportsmento the age-group teams. The improvements of the institutions areessential for this. We are already working on to have more and betterswimming areas in our town.

We are hoping that the national teams are going to have time to look round in our two

thousand years old town. Let me recommend you the Hungarian cuisine, the boating lake andour main square. So enjoy your stay in Szombathely. Im sure that our hospitable citizens will

SZOMBATHELY(www.szombathely.hu)

Szombathely is situated at the foot of the Alps, western edge of Pannnia. The town is one ofthe leading economic and intellectual centres of West-Transdanubia.

It was founded in 43 D.C., during the reign of Emperor Claudius. The Amber road and thevivid Roman culture had a great influence on the history of Savaria. The town was destroyed

by an earthquake in 445 D.C., and its name was not mentioned in official documents forcenturies. It became known for its weekend fairs in the mediaeval age, from which its nameoriginates. The town became an independent diocesan centre with the order of Mria Terziain 1777. This period was the century of the significant development of the settlement. Thefamous baroque building assembly was built due to Bishop Szily Jnos, which is one of the

prominent sights of the town. It developed into a modern town in the second half of the 19thcentury. A dynamic industrial development took place, and the town thrived with a number of

public institutions. The Boat Lake-Lake Lido-Skanzen group, one of the most beautiful builtenvironments of the country was built in the town.

Guests coming here are received by a number of tourism sights and various programmes.First of all the historic centre attracts the visitors. Its monuments, findings from the Romanera, excavations, Baroque building relics, museums with spectacular and rich collections, thegallery, its modern sports and education establishments, significant cultural events can offer

new events everyday.

Our town extraordinarily rich in historic and cultural traditions is characterised now by adynamically developing tourism, diversity of festivals arranged here (Savaria Carnival, SpringFestival of Szombathely, International Bartk Festival, Savaria Urbanistic SummerUniversity) and international fairs.

The local government does extremely lot for the physical training and sports of the town forwhich the Sports Town of the Nation was granted to Szombathely in 2003.

The local sports life deserved a worthy place, and the new sports hall provides adequate

circumstances for local and world competitions in a number of sports.

VENUESCOMPETITION AND TRAINING VENUETFRD

The Tfrd beach in Szombathely is located by 100 meter from Hotel Claudius, in themiddle of the citys greenbelt. Its easy to approach, therefore its easy to reach it from thesurrounding hotels.

Its an outdoor pool, so in the nice, sunny weather we can have cheerful matches there.

In the field of 5.4 hectares, its waiting for the guests with 5, temperature-controlledswimming pool. There are waveless pool, training pool, water slide pool, adventure pool andthree-piece children pool. Beside the 3 buffet, a modern, 300 meals restaurant is waiting forthe guests too with a huge terrace, from where we can enjoy the view of the 1174 m 2 large

pretty fishpond with fountain, what produced for attractive purpose.Competitors have full access to the change rooms. The most of the world championshipmatches are keep in here. For this occasion we prepare with a 1000 people grandstand.

The citys indoor swimming pool lies in the direct neighbourhood of Hotel Claudius, the poolis about 100 meters away from the Tfrd. In the establishment we have a 50 meters long, 8lane and 26.5 degrees warm water swimming pool. Its a pool with a perfect quality, ideal forsports. The 28-30 degrees training pool is used for the childrens swimming lessons. The relax
