    Introduction

    Themeasuressummarisedinthisbookletwereidentifiedthroughasystematicreviewprocesswhichaimedtoidentifybroadmeasuresofmentalhealthoutcomesuitableforusewithchildrenandyoungpeoplewithawiderangeofdifficulties(Wolpertetal.,20081).ThisreviewwasconductedtoinordertoadvisetheDepartmentsofChildrenSchoolsandFamiliesandHealthonwhicharethebestmeasuresthatcouldbeimplementedtoinfluencethesystemtopromotebetterpsychologicalwellbeingandeffectiveinterventionforthosechildrenwithmentalhealthproblems.Withinthespecificremitofthereview,childmentalhealthoutcomemeasuresweredefinedasAnyquestionnaire,measureorapproachtomeasurementthatseekstoprovidemeasurementofmentalhealthinchildrenandyoungpeople(upto18years).Thereviewspecificallyemphasizedmeasuresthat:1. Reflectedabroadgaugeofmentalhealth2. Couldbeusedwitharelativelywideagerange3. couldbeadministeredonawidescalerelativelycheaply

    Forfurtherdetailsontheseprocesses,seeWolpertetal.(2008).Theaimofthisbookletistoshareourlearningandtheinformationwecollectedthroughtheprocessofconductingthisreview.Wehopethisbookletactsasausefulstartingpointforthoselookingtousemeasuresofchildmentalhealthandpsychologicalwellbeingeitherforresearchpurposesorforroutineevaluationandmonitoring.Wewouldemphasisethatanyoneseekingtouseanyofthesemeasuresshouldsupplementtheinformationincludedherewithfurtherinvestigationofthepsychometricpropertiesofthemeasureanditssuitabilityfortheirpopulationofinterestandcheckonuptodatecosts(theinformationpresentedbelowwascorrectasofOctober,2008).Whilstthisisnotanexhaustivelistduetotheparameterssetbytheoriginalreviewwehopeitmaybehelpfultopeoplelookingformeasuresrelevanttotheirspecificprojects.Weaimtoupdateandrevisethisresourceinfutureyears.Wewelcomecommentsfrompeopleastohowtheyfindit.
