Mentorship Program: Bridge to Student Success Chinese American Faculty Association (CAFA) What did our participants say? What will CAFA do next? Mentors provided general guidance to mentees life and study at Fresno State and in the US. Mentors answered mentees’ questions regarding class enrollment, paying fees, and U.S. education expectation, driver License, car purchase, research project, TA experiences, etc. Program Description Our university welcomes new international students every year. The novelty and excitement to a new school can be often time companied by challenges and difficulties. Given the strong and immediate demand of students’ needs as well as the natural bonding and understanding between Chinese students and faculty, initiated by Dr. Xuanning Fu, CAFA launched Mentorship Program that paired CAFA members with new international students with Chinese background to assist them with the cultural and academic acclimatization and eventually lead to greater student success.
