INFECTION CONTROL CLEANS

The highest hygiene standards are crucial in the control of COVID-19, not just right now, but

going forward when the curve has been flattened and needs to stay that way.

Menzies is mobilized and already supplying infection control deep

cleans to clients in the battle to reduce the COVID-19 threat and help

Australian businesses’ return to full operations.

Our infection control deep cleans use hospital-grade disinfectants. All

staff wear full PPE (shoe covers, gloves, safety glasses, face mask and

full protective overalls) and comply with strict protocols, such as

ensuring all disposable items used are disposed of in line with medical

waste practices. The full procedure is explained in the next section.

We have introduced three levels of Infection Control Cleaning, detailed

in the Safe Working Method Statements (SWMS) - included at end - to

ensure that all team members understand the safest way to work, for

the only safety and that of a location’s tenants / users.

As staff are given a SWMS to consult before beginning a job, the three

level SWMS approach also ensures they appreciate exactly what needs

to be done to return as environment to operational standards.

Hard surfaces will be sprayed and wiped with hospital-grade

disinfectant and/or bleach, while soft surfaces, including carpets, will

be sprayed with the same disinfectant. The cleaning products suitable

for use are listed at the end of this document.

With so many facilities, regrettably, empty due to government

restrictions, now is an ideal time for Menzies to thoroughly deep clean

your locations, not just of COVID-19, but all manner of bacterial and viral infections.

Then your facilities will be ready to go as soon as the pandemic restrictions are lifted.

A full infection control clean

addresses all potentially

exposed areas in a location,

including, but not limited to:

• classrooms and lecture

rooms

• offices

• meeting rooms and

reception areas

• amenities (toilets,

cupboards, switches.)

• lifts

• locker and change rooms

• kitchen areas

• breakout areas

• workshops

• sheds

• drinking fountains

• stairwells.

• All other disposable PPE should be removed and discarded (into Biohazard bags) after cleaning

activities are completed. Eye goggles, if used, should be disinfected after each use, according to the

• Discard cleaning equipment made of cloth and absorbent materials, e.g. mop head and wiping cloths,

into biohazard bags after cleaning and disinfecting each area, to prevent cross contamination as these

materials are not easily disinfected. Wear a new pair of gloves and fasten the double-bagged biohazard

bag with a cable tie.

• Disinfect non-porous cleaning equipment used in each room, before using for other rooms. If possible,

keep the disinfecting equipment separated from other routine equipment.

• Disinfect buckets by soaking in bleach disinfectant solution (dilute 1-part bleach in 50 parts water, or

1,000 ppm) for at least 10 minutes, then or rinse in hot water before filling.

• Disinfectants should be applied to surfaces using a damp cloth. They should not be applied to surfaces

using a spray pack, as coverage is uncertain, and spraying may promote the production of aerosols.

The creation of aerosols caused by splashing liquid during cleaning should be avoided. Use a steady

sweeping motion when cleaning floors or horizontal surfaces, to prevent the creation of aerosols or

splashing.

• Leave the disinfected area, having notified facilities manager that it should not be used the next day.

• Discard all used PPE in a double-bagged biohazard bag, which should then be securely sealed, labelled

and disposed of appropriately.

MOBILISING TO MEET DEMAND SURGES

Menzies constantly advertises and recruits potential new employees, so as to maintain a pool of staff ready to

deploy in the event of turnover and for sudden increases in client needs, such is the case during this pandemic.

To that end, we have partnered with SCOUT e-recruit and HROnboard to create a rapid and seamless

recruitment process.

Page 13: MENZIES INTERNATIONAL (AUST.) PTY LTD...Commercial In Confidence Menzies International (Aust.) Pty Ltd 2 Capability Statement MIST FOGGER BLOWERS Menzies has equipped its infection

Commercial In Confidence Menzies International (Aust.) Pty Ltd 8 Capability Statement

The flowchart below illustrates our process:

Using these platforms has these benefits for Menzies and our clients:

• ability to track a candidate’s full application history

• reduced spam due to tailored screening questions

• establishing Menzies as an Employer of Choice, an organisation that values candidates

• builds a pool of job-ready candidates who may be called on to backfill vacancies.

Post-recruitment, new employees use HROnboard, an online-based Human Resources Information System

(HRIS), to complete all pre-requisite employment documentation. The process starts with a text and email to

the new appointee notifying them of the offer. The applicant then selects ‘view and accept my offer’ in the

email to complete the process.

The form guarantees compliance as employees cannot proceed to the next step until all tasks have been

completed, including the Police and Working with Children checks, induction, etc. All information is

electronic, including documents such as the tax file form. A live help function is available to help people with

the process.

Once an application has been completed it feeds into Menzies’ payroll system, to create a seamless

experience for candidates and clients, within minimum timeframes.

On the following page is a screen

capture from our HROnboard

system. The circled area lists the

details employees must complete

to accept their employment offer,

including personal details, work

rights, offer to contribute to

Menzies’ workplace giving program

supporting BeyondBlue, field

training checklist, offer

acceptance, tax file number

declaration and superannuation

choice form.

To avoid service delays and ensure

optimum service from day one, key

considerations during the ramp-up for a new contract with your company will be:

• ANALYSIS OF SPECIFICATIONS AND SERVICE DELIVERY – Menzies’ expertise in developing efficient

rosters and using highly productive equipment should avoid instances of low productivity and delayed

service.

• UNDERSTANDING WORKFORCE’S STRENGTHS – During ramp-up, particularly when new and/or less

experienced staff are on-site, Menzies will assign highly skilled, experienced staff to areas that need

the most attention in order to maximise productivity.

• FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULES TO MEET RAMP-UP DEMANDS – this requirement may be the result of

a site’s cleanliness needing to be rapidly brought up to standard or to cover for unprepared staff should

mobilisation be delayed. Menzies will also maintain flexible work schedules throughout the contract to

allow for leave absences (holidays, personal leave, etc.) and work/life balance.

As a public service, CBC is maintaining this list of antimicrobials that have proven to be effective against stronger pathogens, such as norovirus or ebola. By publishing and maintaining this open list, CBC relieves federal, state, and local health officials’ resources in order to focus on other aspects of the important effort to limit spread of this new disease. Listing is voluntary and compliance with EPA’s “emerging viral pathogen” guidance for antimicrobial products is verified by CBC. CBC will be working with federal and state officials to disseminate the list and make it accessible to all those who need to be in the know.

i To include a product on CBC’s list of Coronavirus-Fighting Products, registrants of the products should please contact Ms. Komal K. Jain at [email protected].
