SESSION OVERVIEWDuring the past few years, resilience has played a central part in the oil and gas industry to lower the production cost in light of the lower oil prices environment. Many companies in the industry initially resorted to deep cost cutting and budgetary optimisation in the face of oil market volatility. However, as the market stabilises, most of the benefits of this form of resilience have been fully exploited and other approaches must be considered to remain competitive.
Looking to the future, there is a variety of opinions on what the next phase of resilience in the industry might look like. Resilience could be technologically driven through adaptation of fourth industrial revolution opportunities to enhance performance. It could be commercially driven through better integration across all value chain components from upstream through downstream to the end consumer.
It could be driven by industries ecosystem where standardising requirements from operating to service companies could lead to a resilient ecosystem that can provide cost-effective solutions while enhancing resilience through downturns. Or, resilience could be organisationally driven through adoption of new skill sets and talent management methods in a more inclusive and diverse workplace.
This executive plenary session aims to address what the resilience of the future will look like, how can the industry best achieve it, and what are the main enablers in this new era. The panel will cover this subject from both the operator side and the service company, and how resilience can be achieved while maintaining a win-win environment for both.

SESSION OVERVIEWSince 2014, the oil market has gone through periods of price collapse and stabilisation due to demand and supply mismatch and rebalance that were triggered by many factors including the Vienna Alliance, oil inventories, geopolitics, natural disasters, financial markets, resilience of US shale oil production, and many others.
What have we learned and how do we see the future outlook of the oil market? The session will help understand the past and shed light on key critical energy issues to watch for in the future.

SESSION OVERVIEWUnlike any other industry, the aspired value behind most of the pursued upstream R&D by leading oil and gas companies seems to be very clear and evident. Yet, it is the fine line between the complexity of development, magnitude of associated risk and uncertainty, and the immediate business impact on day-to-day operations that determines the scale of reward pending this endeavour.
The second fold of challenges in the technology value-impact relation does not lie on the lab bench, developed code, or invented tool. It is in getting a bottom-bottle-up absolute maximum value in the field (on the ground), through a very cumbersome and multifaceted process to land this solution into accelerated operations with zero-tolerance to delays and failures, to milk-out the value behind the aspired technology impact.

SESSION OVERVIEWThe panel will explore how the adoption of digital technology will shape the future of the oil and gas industry. In particular we will investigate how the revolution will herald the transformation of process safety, personal safety, environment compliance, productivity, efficiency, sustainability, and operation excellence.
With the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector, the industry will be more outcome driven, while relying on operators, asset owners and service providers to influence and invest in digital technologies and to continue to develop them in a way that best serves the industry.
At the same time, a serious focus needs to be on cyber security as IR4 will profoundly impact the effectiveness and profitability of national and international security. The panel will also look at how the human element sits at the centre of this revolution in order to make it successful and to drive change management. Additionally, with this digital transformation, industry leaders should look at developing the new skill set needed by young professions to succeed.
The future for the industry involves fast decision-making and fast adjustments to new market conditions. Although it will be almost impossible to differentiate between humans and machines taking decisions, at its core are “people” and “values” therefore industry leaders should continue to focus on empowering them. Despite being a disruptive force to almost every industry in every country, IR4 has the potential to raise global income levels and improve the quality of life for people around the world.

SESSION OVERVIEWSuccessful growth of the industry’s next generation leaders requires long-term career planning guided by the principle that a successful and rewarding career is one that grows with the individual. Industry resilience requires rapid technology uptake and methods to nimbly adapt the workforce to changing technologies. Changes in demographics necessitate creative and timely means for knowledge transfer to the next generation, and consist of a variable mix of on-the-job training, formalised coursework, workshops, and apprenticeships. Companies are also focused on problem solving or learning how experts approach seemingly intractable problems. Professional networks, whether internal or external, can also be instrumental in career growth, providing a vehicle for exposure to latest technologies. Early opportunities for exposure to technical leaders and management is also a mechanism whereby the next generation can establish role models and roadmaps for success. Additionally, career development should value diversity and inclusion in order to foster a fully collaborative environment.
This session will discuss:
• Challenges of demographic changes: effective knowledge transfer
• Mentorship and champions
• Competency-based initiatives and career paths
• Retention of talent

SESSION OVERVIEWAlthough commodity prices have made a modest recovery over the past year, the industry remains challenged to improve profitability. That goes for both operators and service companies alike. The dramatic rebalancing of the oil market that began at the end of 2014 has driven the need for a fundamental change in the way business is conducted.
A fundamental change has definitely occurred; both operators and service companies would attest to that. Four years later, there are varied perspectives on how operators and service companies have collaborated to affect that change.
Furthering collaboration to unlock hidden potential is a key to the success of each moving forward. Collaboration in developing technological solutions to meet future challenges is a win-win way for both operators and service companies.
This session will discuss the following topics:
• How do we ensure the effort continues and improves?
• What does a win-win collaborative effort between an operator and service company look like?
• What has been the biggest focus area of collaboration?

SESSION OVERVIEWInnovation and technology advancements are indispensable to the successful pursuit of the unconventional resources. However, in today’s dynamic environment, success in supplying reliable energy requires a quantum leap beyond innovation and technology. How far can we push the limits beyond innovation and technology relying on partnerships? How can we achieve reliable, sustainable and affordable energy supply through partnerships between policy makers and stakeholders, operating companies and service providers, scientists and engineers, basic and applied researchers?

WEDNESDAY 20 MARCH | 08:00 – 10:00
Energy Mix (Oil and Gas + Renewables)BAHRAIN INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION & CONVENTION CENTRE (HALL 2)
MODERATOR SPEAKER
Eithne Treanor Matthew FitzsimmonsFounder and Chief Executive Officer
Vice President, Cost Analysis, Oilfield Service Department
E. TREANOR MEDIA RYSTAD ENERGY
SESSION OVERVIEWWith the increased demand for clean energy the dynamics of the energy ecosystem are changing. There is a lot of emphasis from policy makers, legislation and environmentalists on cleaner technologies and energy sources. The session will look at how the oil and gas sector is adapting to these changes; which means an increased focus on efficiency, increasing investment in technologies that help improve and enhance the recovery and production processes and the reduction of carbon impact and control costs.
Additionally, with renewable energy being the fastest growing energy source, we’re seeing increased demand for natural gas. On renewables, we’re seeing a lot of emphasis on solar, wind and batteries. Forecasts reveal that renewable energy will play a more dominant role in the energy mix by 2020 and even more by 2040. We’re also seeing new trends, such as electric vehicles and rechargeable energy storage batteries, that show the huge investments that companies are making to support and compliment this paradigm shift.
By combining natural gas and renewables as a way forward, the session will explore the economic, social and environmental impacts of this model and how it helps meet the growing demand for sustainable and clean energy resources.
Admission to the Industry Keynote Session is open to all delegate types except students, exhibitors and visitors. Seating capacity is limited to 200 and places are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

SPE WORKSHOP
MONDAY 18 MARCH | 08:00 – 15:00
Beyond Diversity—A New NormWYNDHAM GRAND MANAMA
WORKSHOP OVERVIEWIn this workshop, we’ll go beyond diversity and share some of the best practices to support “a cultural transformation” to break the barriers and to build a truly diverse workplace.
Across four interactive sessions led by industry leaders, fundamental questions related to company diversity and inclusion will be debated. How do we leverage the full potential of a workforce with diverse perspectives and backgrounds? How do internal policies relate to organisation inclusiveness? What role should education play in a diverse business? And for those returning to work after a career break, how can they be successfully reintegrated into the workforce?
Bring your passion and experiences to this unique workshop and take the opportunity to exchange knowledge with experts and peers alike.
SESSIONS
PANEL 1
Education and Learning in a World of Differences and Organisation of Diversity
Education and learning are the catalysts for greater innovation and maximising all human potential collaboratively in the workplace. We have to aim for education to become an essential public good that governments should empower, finance and deliver. In the real world though, education is not a public good, it is rather a “merit” good, something that governments should offer for free, because of the wide-ranging private and social returns that might be lost if parents underinvest, or if the poor are excluded. For example, progress in education, especially girls’ education, is closely associated with improvements in child survival and nutrition, and maternal health, as well as higher wages.
With more focus externally; strategically financing, empowering, and accountability we can steer the future through greater team inclusion, equal participation of those who are of a different race, speak another language, gender, etc.
PANEL 2
Does Your Company Have an Inclusive Workforce? Quotas vs. Productivity/Internal Policies/KPIs
Diversity can be an extremely powerful element of successful organisations. It is proven to improve employee satisfaction, retention and productivity, which in turn drives innovation and business growth. Encompassing far more than just visible differences such as gender, a truly diverse environment must embrace a variety of viewpoints, cultures and physical abilities. A work environment and culture where all employees feel valued, supported and respected is key to reaching an organisation’s true potential.
Although an inclusive work environment can add significant value to the business, diversity can also bring with it many challenges that need to be managed. For instance, bringing people from different backgrounds, work styles and attitudes can sometimes lead to conflict. Therefore, it is vital that organisations have formal processes and KPIs to manage diversity effectively to ensure it serves the business objectives. They also need to look beyond the traditional means of recruitment to attract and maintain a diverse workforce.

Career Break—Reintegration Into the Workforce (What Do I Need to Do?)
Ready to resume a profession after a career break? Career breaks are usually taken due to health conditions, further studies, exploring the world, or taking care of young ones. Reintegration into the workforce is definitely challenging on all levels; personally and professionally. Employers tend to doubt the competencies of applicants with a career gap, resulting in organisations losing out on recruiting high potential employees. Based on a study conducted by Lean In organisation, the findings suggested that 77% of the female population are looking to resume their career after a break. Moreover, if flexible working hours were provided, this number increases to 98%! During this session, we will discuss the components that contribute to a successful application. We will also address the available means and tools that will aid in quicker and smoother employment opportunities following a career break.

MOTIVATIONAL SESSION
The Power of Life Balance Alignment
Think of a moment in your life where you felt connected by joy and an energy rush. LBA is your avatar; the very thing which carries you each day as you live your lives, go to work and contribute to the diversity and dynamics of the evolving of life itself. The life marker which shares with us the degree to which we are thriving (effervescence) or merely surviving on the treadmill of life. It nurtures your sense of knowing “I’m enough” or if you choose to allow it will leave your self-concept about yourself at a declining deficit. What is the best recipe for building and curating your own Life Balance Alignment? Is this something new? Something you haven’t thought of in a long time or perhaps it’s a reminder? Maybe it will feel uncomfortable… whatever the result, know that this is a message with a gift.

WHY ATTEND
We stand at the threshold of the 4th industrial revolution which will impact all of us in our personal, professional and public lives, bringing about a level and scale of change that we have never before witnessed. The oilfield will not be immune to these changes, and rather than sit back and wait for the changes to come to our industry, we should be proactive in their introduction. Thus, it is imperative that we obtain an understanding of the digital and technological developments that are driving these changes: plan to bring them into our workplaces to benefit ourselves, our teams, assets and organisations; understand how to pilot and deploy with the right combination of talent; and ultimately derive business benefit for all organisation stakeholders. In so doing, we can visualise how strategic combinations of talents and technologies from both petroleum and digital are revolutionary, can enable digital transformation, and allow us to work towards an "Oilfield 4.0" vision for each of our organisations.
WHO ATTENDS
