MerlinMerlin is a 50’ traditional stern narrowboat built in 1993 by Dave Clarke. She is in fabulous condition for a boat of her age and oozes personality.The current owners bought her in 2003 and have loved her since; in my time in the business I have not seen such a comprehensive maintenance log with a boat. She was re-painted in 2008 and has been polished twice a year since - and it shows; she has been serviced every 150 hours and she was last blacked in 2018.The layout offers a huge amount of space and she sleeps six. The well deck leads into the saloon. The boat is so cosy; she is fitted out in oak faced ply with diagonal tongue and groove and carpet to the floor. The saloon is large and has a Morso solid fuel stove, and an L shaped sofa which converts into a double berth. Shelves sit opposite.The galley follows; this has a stainless steel sink with draining board, a 3 way fridge which at the moment only runs off gas (but the wires are there to connect to electric), a 4 burner gas hob oven & grill, and plenty of storage. A side hatch sit oppsite with some cupboards under.Unusually, but I like it, the Pullman dinette dining area sits aft of the galley. This has storage both under the seats and the floor, and coverts into a further double berth.Through a door into the corridor which leads to the bathroom. There is a Porta Potti Excellence (with spare cassette) in here, a ceramic basin and a shower cubicle.As you leave the bathroom towards the bedroom, there is a floor to ceiling wardrobe & cupboard in the corridor.The bedroom has a 6’3”x4’ fixed double (storage under) and cupboards over the head end.A door leads through to the stern cabin. The well maintained Beta 43 sits under the boards in a sqeaky clean engine room, and all the navigation equipment is stored here.230v is from landline or the 1500w inverter, the engine heats the hot water and she is ready to go as either a holiday boat or a very comforable liveaboard.
