Message from Patricia Kassis-Lambrecht Chairlady, 2020 Gabby Awards

I’m honored to serve as this year’s Chairlady of the Greek America Foundation’s 2020 Gabby Awards in New York City. Having served on the organization’s board for several years, I’m proud of the things we have  accomplished and I’m excited to share what we’re planning for the future. 

Our mission— to support the dreams and aspirations of young people in our community—  is aligned with my life’s goals and personal beliefs. Being the grand-daughter of Greek immigrants, I also understand the importance of maintaining the ideals that these early pioneers brought with them to this country.   Philanthropy was something that was taught to me at an early age and was passed on by the generations before me. My support of the Greek America Foundation and its many philanthropic endeavors is a bow of respect to my own family and the struggles they experienced on their long journey to America.

For our work to be effective, it must be relevant— something I believe the Greek America Foundation has accomplished.

I am particularly enthusiastic about our newest endeavor, Greek America Corps, which sends young people from our community to volunteer in Greece in various humanitarian relief efforts. In honor of my own family, who arrived in Greece as refugees from Asia Minor in the 1920s, I’ve also decided to support the volunteer mission on the Greek island of Chios.

There isn’t a better way to instill in our young people a love for Greece, as well as a sense of service, support and compassion for those less fortunate than we are.

Our best initiatives are built with broad support from the community.

In this spirit, I hope YOU will also support the 2020 Gabby Awards by agreeing to be a sponsor.
