MESSAGE FROM THE SECRETARY TOP-SELLING FLORIDA LOTTO RETAILERS If you wish to submit in a ticket for an adjustment to your account, please complete the Request for Adjustment Form, and submit the ticket(s) and completed form in the pre-addressed green postage-paid envelope, provided for your convenience by the Florida Lottery. The Lottery’s policy for adjustment considerations are documented at the top of the form. It is very important that you read this policy and inform your clerks so you can get credit for misprinted or non-printed tickets. To be considered for credit: 1. Adjustment requests must be postmarked within 30 days of the transaction date. 2. Tickets submitted shall not be returned as they are defaced upon receipt. 3. You must call Games Administration* within two hours, before game close or end of the business day, whichever comes first for the following instances: a. Nothing appears to be wrong with the ticket but the Lottery terminal cannot read the barcode, and the product is cancellable. b. Ticket did not print and is not marked by an asterisk (*) on the Transaction History Report. c. I am pleased to announce that we have exceeded our benchmark sales goal for the first quarter of this fiscal year. I am confident that with everyone’s continued commitment to strong holiday sales, we will stay on target to reach our ambitious goal of exceeding $4.2 billion by the end of the fiscal year. Beginning on Sunday, January 15, 2012, enhancements to POWERBALL ® begin. These include starting jackpots of $40 million and an increased second prize of $1 million for players who match 5 of 5 winning numbers. Players will still choose their first five numbers from a pool of 59, but the group of numbers in the Powerball pool will shrink from 39 to 35 – producing better overall odds of winning a prize in the game. The game’s overall odds will improve from one in 35 to one in 31.8. In order to offer these improvements, Powerball tickets will now cost $2 per play. As we move into the New Year, I anticipate many new opportunities to expand our player base, increase sales and help you grow your business. The default sales value is $200 but we encourage retailers to set this to a lower value such as $50. A selling feature of the Altura terminal allows verification of ticket cost prior to selling the Florida Lottery’s non-cancellable games. Every time you attempt to sell a non-cancellable game, a Confirmation Screen appears requiring a review and response. The screen message notes the ticket cost and provides an opportunity to stop or continue the sale. This gives you the chance to verify the ticket value and obtain payment from your player prior to committing to the sale of the ticket. ThefallandwintermonthsarefilledwithspecialoccasionsfromHalloweentoNewYear’sEve.Theseeventsnotonlyincrease the number of store trips consumers make but also the amount they spend each trip. To help you increase your Lottery sales, the Florida Lottery has begun shipping our annual Holiday Scratch-Off tickets.

Holiday Scratch-Off games should be a strong part of your Holiday portfolio. In addition to the strong self purchase consumers make, Holiday Scratch-Off games have also become a consumer favorite for gift giving. In fact, consumers who aren’t regular Scratch-Off ticket buyers quite often make a point of buying during the holiday season.

How can you take advantage of the added demand coming your way during the holidays? When it comes to Holiday Scratch-Off tickets, your “A” game should include the following:

•Keep a good supply of Holiday Scratch-Off games on hand at all times.

Your Lottery sales representative will gladly advise you on which games you should order more heavily in order to meet demand.

•Display the Holiday Scratch-Off games early and often

Holiday Scratch-Off buying starts in October, building steadily to a maximum selling period between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Don’t be caught in short supply. Remember, a sale lost to an out-of-stock is never regained.

•Make it easy for your customers to purchase Holiday Scratch-Off tickets

Put your Lottery Holiday products together to make a statement and to let your customers know you have Holiday and non-Holiday products. Many retailers are now successfully using Scratch-Off game plan-o-grams provided by the Lottery. The plan-o-grams are designed to make sure you have the right games, in the right place, at the right time and in the right amounts. Ask your Lottery sales representative for a plan-o-gram and watch your sales take off.

Winn-Dixie recently approved placement of Lottery Scratch-Off menu boards for all of their Florida supermarket stores. The menu board concept helps increase awareness of the Scratch-Off product by displaying a 4 x 4 ticket likeness in clear plastic slots on a board that can be placed above the dispenser at the register of service counter. The menu board slots are numbered and arranged in a plan-o-gram format by game and price point, making it easier for both the consumer and the store clerk to identify the ticket purchase.

• Menu Board units were placed in Winn-Dixie stores statewide between April and June of this year. • Scratch-Off sales in Winn-Dixie stores increased 44 percent when compared to the three months prior to the installs, and 42 percent when compared to the same time a year ago. • Statewide Lottery sales during the same period were up seven percent.

HOLIDAY SCRATCH-OFF TICKETS MAKE GREAT GIFTS! The holiday season is upon us and the Florida Lottery has six new Holiday-themed Scratch-Off games for players to enjoy. The games range in price from $1 to $10 and feature more than $85 million in prizes combined. This year’s Holiday Scratch-Off games have a number of specialty printing options including peppermint scented and metallic inks, foil card stock and multiple scenes which are unique selling points to share with players.

The $10 game, MILLION DOLLAR HOLIDAY, offers players the chance to win more than $29 million in prizes, including three top prizes of $1 million! The overall odds of winning are one in 3.26.

The $5 game, WINTER BUCKS, has more than 1.2 million winning tickets worth more than $18 million, with six top prizes of $250,000. The game features four festive holiday scenes, offering players variety and big cash prizes. The overall odds of winning are one in 4.26.

The $2 game, HOLIDAY GOLD, has more than 2.1 million winning tickets worth $13 million in prizes ranging from $2 to $25,000. There are 10 top prizes of $25,000. The overall odds of winning are one in 4.35.

The $2 game, PEPPERMINT PAYOUT, uses peppermint scented ink that grows stronger when scratched. The game also offers more than $10 million in prizes, including 10 top prizes of $25,000! The overall odds of winning are one in 4.38.

The $1 game, SEASON’S GREETINGS, offers players more than $7 million in prizes ranging from $1 to $6,000. The overall odds of winning are one in 4.76.

The $1 game, HOLIDAY CHEER, is a traditionally-styled holiday game, with two color scenes. The game features 30 top prizes of $5,000 and more than 2.3 million prizes ranging from $1 to $100. The overall odds of winning are one in 4.56.
