Roses are red, violets are blue…April is

National Poetry Month! Are you a poet and

you know it? April is your month to shine!

Inaugurated by the Academy of American

Poets in 1996, National Poetry Month has

become the largest literary celebration in

the world with schools, publishers, libraries,

booksellers, and poets celebrating poetry’s

vital place in our culture. Take moment to

write a sonnet or jot down some prose this

month. You never know – You might just be the next great American poet!

April 22nd is Earth Day in the United States,

but there are plenty of ways to celebrate

it all year long. Instead of driving to work,

walk, ride the bus or carpool with coworkers.

Switch to paperless billing to cut down

on paper waste. Volunteer your time by

helping to clean up creeks and parks. Use

environmentally-friendly, non-toxic cleaning

products. Little changes and small actions make a big difference!

If you’ve never been thrilled to the very

edges of your soul by a flower in spring bloom,

maybe your soul has never been in bloom.

Spring Trivia• The fall and spring equinoxes are the

only two times during the year when the sun rises due east and sets due west.

• Spring almost always arrives on March 20 or 21, The reason the equinoxes and solstices don’t always come on the same day is that Earth doesn’t circle the sun in exactly 365 days.
