She is going to Spain to walk the Camino de Santiago, an ancient pilgrimage route that still draws people from all over the world to walk and pray. She will return October 31 and be back in worship on All Saints Sunday, November 6.

While she is away, Rev. Jan Reed will be here for pastoral care. We have a wonderful series of worship experiences planned.

Dr. Mark Alexander- United Way

Before landing at United Way, Dr. Alexander was a United Methodist pastor; employee in the oil and gas industry and executive director of the Samaritan Counseling Center of West Texas, Alexander fell into his current position at the United Way without actively seeking it out.

“Whether it’s work in the church or work in the United Way, life change and transformation is the thing I’m most passionate about,” Alexander said. “Helping families is something that I get really passionate about. It doesn’t matter if we’re helping less fortunate kids to learn to read or helping other kids learn that sitting on the couch, playing video games and eating the wrong kind of food is going to lead to adult issues that you’re going to have to face later on.”

It is that wonderful time of year at St. Luke’s UMC…pumpkin patch time! Pumpkins will arrive Saturday, October 8 in the morning. We hope you will make plans to come, unload, and have some tasty hot chocolate and donuts. We will have a special ‘Picnic in the Patch’ following late service on October 9 where St. Luke’s members will be able to bring a meal and have first dibs at the pumpkins! We will be open to the public from October 10-31 from 11am- 6pm (Sundays noon-5). It takes the whole church to make this a success, so please consider signing up to volunteer for a shift! For more information, contact Denise Carrell. [email protected]
