The Messenger | TRINITY BAPTIST CHURCH | APRIL 2019 For The Journey . . . Our Primeme Choir journeyed to the Everlasng Conference this past month at FBC Bryan. I was privileged to be one of the BUS DRIVERS. The Primeme Choir had the chance to “show off” a lile as did all the other Senor Adult Choirs by singing a couple of songs for each other. All the combined choirs also spent me rehearsing together. While they were rehearsing I found a place within the church to do a lile studying and reading. I encountered some interesng people as they were probably wondering why this man was sing in the hall of the student wing. Diana, was a former church organist who now only taught piano lessons. She was walking the halls for her exercise before heading to Bible study. She told me that she had five children and seventeen grandchildren. She exercised walking the halls and praying for each of her children and grandchildren. As we were vising she made a comment that I will never forget. She said, “the only giſt that we have been given that we carry with us to heaven is music.” I could hear the choirs praccing in the background and I thought what a wonderful giſt we have been given. I know there are several who do not think they can sing very well. Others who have no business playing any musical instrument. But we will all have the joy to be part of a worship choir one day that will last forever. John the Apostle writes to the church at Ephesus in the book of Revelaon. The words wrien to the church are mostly posive with one excepon. The church had lost its first love. The NIV states, “you have forsaken the love you had at first.” We oſten describe this love that is missing as the love they had for the Lord but when we read the previous words spoken posively we understand that the church was hard working, persevering, enduring hardships for Christ’s name and resilient. So, this love must be describing something else. Most believe it is describing the love lost for one another. I am so thankful that Trinity Bapst Church exercises this love for each other. Do we always agree? No, but we do the hard work of walking together even in disagreement. God has blessed us with a great responsibility of sharing the love of Christ with others. We call that the gospel. It seems that one of the greatest ways we spread the gospel is when others see our love for one another. It is impossible to love without grace. The love God shows, and intends for us to produce, is not earned but uncondional. Back to the Everlasng Conference, a part of our final worship me together was sharing Scriptures and the choirs singing the songs they had rehearsed. Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing was used in our worship me. The first line describes our hearts being tuned to sing God’s grace. Is your heart tuned today to sing love through the grace given by God? “A new command I give you. Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know you are My disciples if you love one another.” John 13:34-35 In Christ,

TRINITY BAPTIST CHURCH |

APRIL 2019

For The Journey . . .

Our Primetime Choir journeyed to the Everlasting Conference this past month at FBC Bryan. I was privileged to be one of the BUS DRIVERS. The Primetime Choir had the chance to “show off” a little as did all the other Senor Adult Choirs by singing a couple of songs for each other. All the combined choirs also spent time rehearsing together. While they were rehearsing I found a place within the church to do a little studying and reading. I encountered some interesting people as they were probably wondering why this man was sitting in the hall of the student wing. Diana, was a former church organist who now only taught piano lessons. She was walking the halls for her exercise before heading to Bible study. She told me that she had five children and seventeen grandchildren. She exercised walking the halls and praying for each of her children and grandchildren. As we were visiting she made a comment that I will never forget. She said, “the only gift that we have been given that we carry with us to heaven is music.”

I could hear the choirs practicing in the background and I thought what a wonderful gift we have been given. I know there are several who do not think they can sing very well. Others who have no business playing any musical instrument. But we will all have the joy to be part of a worship choir one day that will last forever.

John the Apostle writes to the church at Ephesus in the book of Revelation. The words written to the church are mostly positive with one exception. The church had lost its first love. The NIV states, “you have forsaken the love you had at first.” We often describe this love that is missing as the love they had for the Lord but when we read the previous words spoken positively we understand that the church was hard working, persevering, enduring hardships for Christ’s name and resilient. So, this love must be describing something else. Most believe it is describing the love lost for one another. I am so thankful that Trinity Baptist Church exercises this love for each other. The love God shows, and intends for us to produce, is not earned but unconditional.

Back to the Everlasting Conference, a part of our final worship time together was sharing Scriptures and the choirs singing the songs they had rehearsed. Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing was used in our worship time. The first line describes our hearts being tuned to sing God’s grace. Is your heart tuned today to sing love through the grace given by God?

“A new command I give you. Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know you are My disciples if you love one another.” John 13:34-35

Mica and I cannot begin to thank you enough for the incredible love and support we have felt as we have begun our journey at TBCK! Thank you to everyone who helped

with the move or with food. Thank you to everyone who has re-introduced themselves to us. We are slowly getting ready

for the “name test” we keep hearing is coming. We have such an incredible group of teenagers, volunteers, and

parents, and ask that you continue to pray as we work to learn names and build relationships!
