1. Introduction
The services and facilities offered by a university play important roles in enhancing the students’
intellectual and social development. However, at the University Brunei Darussalam (UBD),
some issues hindered the development and improvement could be made in line with what has
been done by the University of Birmingham, one of the top universities in the United Kingdom
where they have been successfully produced high quality graduates. The focus of the report will
be on the issues of the main facilities and services of UBD: internet & computer services,
learning resources, teaching staff & facilities and the administration work. Due to the increasing
number of students of UBD (Kassim, 2014), it is crucial to create a suitable environment to
enhance the intellect and social development of the students which follows the Brunei
Darussalam’s 2035 vision; to create highly skilled and well educated population (Haji Abd
Rahman, 2008). The questionnaires were given to 150 undergraduates from only six faculties in
UBD which might not represent the whole university and improvement to be made will be
limited as only one university was used as a model.
