Head Coach Ken ParsonsKen Parsons, who has led the Roadrunners to three consecutive NCAA Tournament berths and five Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) tournament selections in five seasons, returns to Metro State for his sixth season in 2009.

During his five seasons at Metro State, Parsons has a 69-28-11 record. He has coached four All-Americans, 19 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas all-region players and 15 first team All-RMAC honorees during his tenure. His 2005 and 2006 teams earned NSCAA academic team honors.

Parsons’ 2008 squad featured three All-Americans as Kellen Johnson, Ryan Vickery and Ola Sandquist all earned All-America honors from the NSCAA and Johnson also became Metro State’s first Daktronics All-American, earning honorable mention honors. In addition, Johnson was named RMAC Player of the Year. Metro State also had six players earn NSCAA all-region honors and a pair of players named first team All-RMAC (Johnson and Sandquist). The Roadrunners reached the NCAA Tournament for the third consecu-tive year and posted and overall record of 12-7-3, including 8-3-3 in the RMAC to finish as runners-up in the conference standings.

Metro State won the RMAC regular season title in 2007, Parsons’ first league crown after three straight sec-ond-place finishes. The Roadrunners advanced to their second consecutive NCAA Tournament and posted a 16-3-3 overall record. Metro State had three NSCAA/adidas All-Midwest Region players, as Phillip Owen, Garrett Sadusky and Kellen Johnson were all named to the second team.

The Roadrunners went 14-7-1 in 2006 and advanced to their first NCAA Tournament since 2000. Parsons and Metro State advanced to the RMAC Tournament championship game after finishing second in the conference during the regular season. Antonio Porras (first team), Mark Cromie and Shaun Elbaum (second team) all earned NSCAA/adidas All-Midwest Region honors, while five players earned All-RMAC recogni-tion.

Parsons led the 2005 team to a 12-7-2 overall record, a spot in the RMAC Tournament and a second-place finish in the RMAC with a 7-5 league mark. Porras was named second team All-America, while Porras and Cromie (first team) and Elbaum and Owen (second team) were named to the NSCAA/adidas All-Midwest Region teams. Five players earned All-RMAC accolades.

During his inaugural 2004 campaign, Parsons guided the Roadrunners to a 15-4-2 overall record and the RMAC Tournament title. Parsons coached three NSCAA/adi-das All-Midwest Region players - Owen, Danny Bills and Preston Borrego, as well as four first team All-RMAC selections during his first season.

Prior to coming to Metro State, Parsons was the head men’s and women’s soccer coach at Mesa Community College in Mesa, Ariz. While at Mesa, he coached former Road-runners Ricky Fetherston and Nagui Sabbagh, and led the Thunderbirds to a com-bined 67-18-4 record in his two seasons. Parsons was named the ACCAC and Region I Coach of the Year for his efforts in 2003.

While in Arizona, Parsons was also the head boys’ varsity soccer coach at Mountain Pointe High School in Phoenix. While at Mountain Pointe, he led his team to four regional championships and qualified for the state tournament five times (2000-04). The Pride compiled a 70-26-4 record and Parsons earned four Central Region Coach of the Year awards.

Parsons has also served as the head girls’ varsity soccer coach at Cibola High School in Yuma, Ariz., where he earned East Valley Region Coach of the Year honors in 1997. His team posted a 27-16-5 record during his time there.

Parsons earned bachelor’s degrees from Marycrest International University (Iowa) in 1993 with a bachelor’s of science degree in biochemistry and secondary education, as well as a bachelor’s of arts in psychology. While at Marycrest, he was a four-year soccer letterwinner and served as team captain from 1992-1993. He went on to earn his master’s degree in secondary education from Northern Arizona University in 1999. Parsons holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) “B” license, a USSF “National Youth” license, a NSCAA “Premier” diploma, a NSCAA “National (Level III)” goalkeeping diploma and the Royal Netherlands Football Association Youth and Advanced Coaches Certificate.

Assistant CoachesJeremy Tittle • 1st Season • Assistant CoachJeremy Tittle comes to Metro State in the fall of 2009 with an extensive coaching career, including experience most recently in the Denver Metro Area as the senior director of coaching for the Littleton Soccer Club. While at Littleton, he developed and managed player development and annual goals for the club. During his time there, the club more than doubled its percentage of college-bound players and those receiving athletic scholarships. He also recruited, trained and evaluated players and staff members.

Prior to working in the Denver area, Tittle was the head assistant coach at NCAA Division I West Virginia Uni-versity, assisting in all areas on and off the field. He also spent six years as the head coach at NCAA Division II Lees-McRae College in North Carolina where he earned conference coach of the year honors, won two conference championships and helped develop four professional players.

Tittle also served as an assistant coach at Midwestern State (Texas) for one season and also spent a year as an as-sistant at King College (Tenn.).

As a player at King College, he earned All-America honors, was the college’s male athlete of the year and was a two-year team captain. He was also the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Athlete of the Year. Tittle graduated from King in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in psychology and earned his master’s degree from the same college in 1996 in kinesiology with a human relations concentration.

Tittle holds a USSF “A” coaching license and also holds a NSCAA “Premier” diploma.

A native of Wichita Falls, Texas, Tittle currently resides in the Denver area with his wife, Kristin.

Mark Cromie • 2nd Season • Assistant CoachMark Cromie is in his second year as an assistant coach with the Metro State men’s soccer team in 2009 after play-ing three years for the Roadrunners and one year for Colorado Christian University. As a player for Metro State from 2005-07, Cromie was a three-time All-RMAC selection as a midfielder. He also earned Academic All-RMAC honors.

The Roadrunners finished second in the RMAC in 2008 and also reached the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year. Three different players earned All-America honors.

The Northern Ireland native has earned his USSF “B” coaching license and worked as a coach with the Westmin-ster AFC soccer program in Denver.

While growing up in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Cromie played for the Northern Ireland Youth International team and played three years for the Stoke City FC youth/reserve teams.

Cromie graduated from Metro State in the spring of 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. Mark and his wife, Julie, live in Denver.

2008: Named NSCAA/adidas first team All-Central Region … started 18 of 19 games as a defender and midfielder … named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll team … was fourth on the team with five assists and also had a goal for seven points … also fourth on the squad with 42 shot attempts and had 15 shots on goal … scored a goal against Colorado Christian on Sept. 26 … had a career-high two assists against Colorado Christian on Oct. 19 … also had assists against Regis on Sept. 21, Midwestern State on Sept. 28 and Mesa State on Nov. 2 … named to the RMAC All-Tournament team after helping the Roadrunners to a second-place finish at the conference tournament.

2007: Played in 19 games, including 17 starts, as a 2007 sophomore ... scored six points, including one goal and four assists ... named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 23 ... scored the game-winning goal for two points at his former school Fort Lewis on Oct. 14 ... tallied three assists in his final nine games, including one in Metro State’s 2-1 victory vs. Colorado Mines on Oct. 28.

Before Metro State: Redshirted the 2003 season and played his 2004 freshman season at Fort Lewis College ... earned RMAC Freshman of the Year and second team All-RMAC accolades in 2004 ... the Skyhawks won the RMAC and advanced to the final 16 at the NCAA Tournament ... had six goals and four assists for 16 points on 46 shots ... scored twice and had two assists for a career-high six points against Colorado Christian on Sept. 24, 2004 ... coached by Jeremy Gunn.
