37. I think the look and feel fits a village town by the lake. It's easy to get around, clear, makes sense.
38.
Majority of things work well, vehicle speed and mix of pedestrian is an issue, speeds need to be reduced in the central area, parking is always an
issue,...Big item is the relocation of a new launching ramp at Chinamans creek ,the trailer boats are getting larger and access throughthe central area
is near impossible and will end in a bad accident ....
39. The water park. Footpaths. The village green. Water access on both sides.
40. New Lighting, Marina at Yacht Club, Lake King Jetty.
41. All shops and eateries are in one nice central location, it's on the water, the park and BBQ facilities are great, it's spacious.
42. The new playground & water park is fantastic. Bbq area and picnic tables on village green are great. Boardwalks along lake are fantastic.

64. The boardwalk. Events such as Metung food and wine festival, fun run etc.
65. The cafe's make it a very social place
66. The new playground
67. the play area with the water area for kids to splash around, the green is great for being utilised as a picnic area or for ball games
68. The balance of open space with business
69. The new park and to a lesser extent the Village Green
70. park, village green, footpaths, boardwalks
71. Nice village feel, playground space, community space of Village Green for events like Anzac Day, good boat ramp.
72. The low-key village atmosphere with views and access to the water.
73. Paterson park. Relaxed, fun place for families. Casual outdoor eating. Plantings good in gardens between store and nautica
74.
Use of the village green for the Farmers' Market stalls "activates" the centre and provides custom for the local restaurants and retail stores. It is well-attended by local residents and visitors & showcases the produce of local producers--particularly the local orchards, chocolatier, culinary suppliers and soap-maker. The market also provides a venue to involve/provide the public with information about local services: rabbit control, SES. It is also a place to meet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Due to the limited public space at the commercial centre of the village (surrounded by retail buildings) it makes for an intimate atmosphere
75. Walkways
76. Most things. Easy parking for most of the year, access to services and the new jetty.
77. The village centre provides most of what we need at the present time with a small but functional layout.
78. The village green, Patterson Park play area and the small intimate and friendly commercial enterprises.
79.
The village is a very unique geographic setting with two parks and water to the immediate east and west of the village centre. The village market and the revamping of Patterson Park works very well. The extension of the "Pub" Jetty has been an excellent draw card for boat traffic and for the general ambiance of the village for tourists arriving by car. Metung is noted for its ability to draw both tourists and locals for meals and shopping when Bairnsdale is very quiet on the weekends. Board walks including in front of the Moorings are very important. The back beach area is extremely well patronised and the walk to shavings point is well utilised. The mix of businesses is great but this needs expanding as the village grows.
80. To be 'A Village' the town must be small & compact where people can walk between establishments. The pub & the immediate surrounds of the village green are clearly the heart of the town: the village green being iconic & and almost sacred to the Metung community - it MUST NOT be fiddled with! Free pedestrian movement around the town works well - it must not be inhibited.
81. Cafes spilling out onto the pavement. The monthly Farmers Market on the Village Green.

82.
The Village Green is multi purpose and used for Markets, ANZAC Day, Easter, Food and Wine Festival, Cinema and other activities. Paterson Park is a very useful addition for families to be encouraged to visit Metung. Shaving Point is working well as a boating hub with reasonable parking for boat trailers. The Board Walk and the update to the jetty near the Metung Hotel is fantastic now that it have recently been completed. The replacement Lake King jetty is a good improvement. The Metung Hotel is the major attraction for eateries but nice to see that other restaurants have been open on the weekends recently.
83. The village centre is a great focal point of the community. We really enjoy the events that bring us together. New park is brilliant and inspires family the get active.
84. The water park. Shops
85. Must keep and improve seaside village feel. Must not over commercialise village centre.
86. Everything
87. The children's playground - best we have seen.
88. Market day in Park. The water park. ** The playground does not cater for all ages of children - waste of money!
89.
Nice clean, open and well kept spaces with a toilet and shower block just a short stroll away. Love the new organic Paterson Park. The water feature is a highlight and also the swing and climbing frame. Love the soft fall sand, native plants and grassy mounds and naturally shaded areas. Also love the wonderfully green open spaces over at the village green. Love going to the market here, playing with the kids here and the occasional event. The highlight of which would have to be the twilight cinema! Everyone I spoke to absolutely LOVED it! The only thing I would perhaps consider on the village green is perhaps a little more seating? Would it be possible to make ALL the tops of the perimeter wooden fence available for sitting down. i.e. place a flat piece of timber to the top of each one rather than just a few of them. This would be great for events such as ANZAC day when seating is at an absolute premium. Please don't change anything else in these two areas as I really think you have nailed it as is.
90. The focus on the waterfront mixed with the retail and boating activities.
91. Patterson Park. The way it leads to the back beach and the beach near the pub.
92. Patterson Park

16. the access to water and the views

18. Having been coming to Metung regularly for now for over 60 years, and living at Kings Cove since 2012, my wife and I love the unspoilt layout of the
village, lack of high rise, and the excellent general store, hotel and eating places
19. The village atmosphere. Small and friendly. Not too much commercial development. No high rise beyond 2 stories in the centre. The access to water
views and the water. Picturesque with boats, pelicans and swans. Keep it small and not overdeveloped.

40. Natural beauty. Cleanliness.
41. It's so tidy, green and located near the marina and Pub.
42. I like that you have options on where to have a swim, if windy on one side of Metung you can swim or picnic at the other side. I like the park, village
green, shaving point and back beach - all places you can have a bbq, picnic etc. Safe swimming beach for kids.
43. The atmosphere, the quietness, the friendliness ample Coffey shops and food places.,
44. the 'village' feel of the place, commercial development is generally well planned and fits the environment. Quiet family friendly area
45. Easy going, friendly and relaxing environment.
46. Waterfront village character
47. The easy feel
48. proximity to water. the no camping policy. activities in the village green i.e. markets, food and wine festival, Easter seafood etc. the boardwalks to
Chainmen's and Shaving point
49. Casual friendliness
50. Feeling of safety. Clean and neat. Cafe culture. Friendly atmosphere
51. Despite increasing suburbanisation, some destruction of the bushland areas proximate to the lakes to provide views for new housing and commercial / tourism type development Metung village and surrounding areas retain a special atmosphere of quiet elegance - almost unique in Australia.
52. Family use
53. It has a village feel.
54. the genuine community feel
55. Village atmosphere.
56. The water village green shaving point
57. The friendly and open village atmosphere.
58.
I love that Metung still has a village feel. It isn't over-commercialized like some other tourist spots on the lakes. I love the drive into the village along Metung Rd, along the lakeside with the continuous view of Bancroft Bay . It was the first thing that made me fall in love with the place when we started coming here, when I was a teenager. I love that we have so much access to the water, especially along the Lake King side of the town, but it is a pity that the sand has disappeared from the beach along Lake King as it isn't as inviting as it once was and it is the only area that has been safe for families to enjoy the water and swim from the beach.
59. Cafes & shops open 7 days per week. Close proximity to the water. Village atmosphere

60. Just about everything but we need to guard against "out of character" development.
61. The small friendly community
62. Village feel
63. Position Proximity to the lakes Beautiful Quiet Town during the year but tolerable when its busy over holidays etc
64. The back beach, water park, village feel.
65. That the village is right on the water and very picturesque
66. The village feel
67. the closeness of all of it. you don't have to walk far to get anywhere.
68. Its easy to walk around
69. It's non-commercial - that is, it's quiet (even when it's busy), everything is personal, there's no supermarket or petrol station, just small local businesses, the activities are not money-driven like mini golf, carnivals etc, it's family-friendly and nature based.
70. small village, quiet, not too commercial,
71. Looks good and is a nice place to be.
72. I like being near the water and being able to see the boating activities.
73.
Seaside village style and atmosphere brought us here for holidays and then permanently. We like the lack of confronting commercial development. Picturesque views when not blocked by signs. Outlook to Boole Poole and Mosquito Point should be maximised. Boardwalk into town is fabulous. Beach St side is ok but a bit weather beaten with not much seating. Shaving point is neglected but has fantastic views marred by authority signs that could be better located. The morton bay fig tree opposite green is fabulous.
74.
I like the idea of a "hub" for the village and the feeling that you can "get away" from shops and enjoy the lakeside (where it's possible) and look out towards Boole Poole. I like that it has moments of activity and also quiet--like a small village. I like that there are large native trees to provide shade and native habitat for bird-life in the area.
75. Village atmosphere
76. The Village atmosphere. Informality and is dog friendly.
77. The location, the lifestyle and the fact that we are not subject to heavy, through traffic. The semi-rural and bush combination of the area is a very pleasant environment in which to live. The community spirit is unique and to be treasured.
78. The small town country atmosphere where people still greet each other with a smile or a cordial G'dday. It's plastic bag free environment and awareness of the requirements of the marine ecology.

79. Metung is one of the prettiest places in the world. It has the tourist season vibe and the quiet season quaintness that makes it very special. Due to its size the locals are friendly and there is a mix of retirees, families and tourists all year round from near and far. Many locals from East Gippsland will spend the day in Metung walking, talking and eating as an escape from the routines of work incorporated into their weekend drive in the area.
80. It is small & therefore the village experience is good.
81. The 'village' feeling. A sense of community as people stop and chat under the trees.
82.
The Village Green is always quite green and a pleasant place to have coffee whilst watching the boating activities and enjoying family activities. Patterson Park is well utilised though we don't currently use it. Metung is generally quite and peaceful when we visit (we have a holiday house in Metung). There are quite a few walking tracks to enjoy the views and for exercise. Great to have a boat ramp at Shaving Point with good access to the Lakes, Fishing and Water Sports. The Village Store is useful for supplies, especially boat fuel.
83. Friendly and welcoming
84. Peaceful and sage
85. Cafes, open space - playground and the green, small village feel, boats and jetty, opportunity to swim close to centre.
86. Everything
87. Dog friendly, board walks, friendly, great food, boating facilities, jetties.
88. The open areas. The jetties.
89. Personally I love that it is small, quaint and intimate, just as a true village should be. Of course I LOVE the views the most! Love the Jetty's, the great swimming beaches, the shops and cafe's, the post office, absolutely EVERYTHING really!
90. Village atmosphere. Outlook to Bancroft Bay.
91. The peace and tranquillity. We enjoy hearing the children playing there when we are outside in our garden.
92. Connection with the water and its limits for expansion.

1. parking , toilets, remove rubbish bins near lake,
2. Parking. No parking in kurnai ave as ppl always park illegally.
3.
It certainly needs more parking.
It needs a Tourist Information Centre. The current information centre is for accommodation only.
There is a strong artist community here, both visual arts & music. I would like to see a central meeting place available for artists to meet as a collective,
exhibit & perform. I think Metung could certainly be developed as an Arts/Artist hub for the region. A Master Plan could include specific consultation
with artists of all genres as they are a vital part of the community & a resource for tourism. Currently everyone has to go outside of Metung to meet
others in the arts. After some research you find them here but they are loosely scattered and I'm sure there are some gems desiring connection in the
local community. It would be good to even establish a local artist register so people can connect with each other.
4. The green, the shops and some of the cafes.
5. Toilets next to beach need upgrade
6. Shaving point picnic ground needs major facelift. Town history info boards need to be refreshed.
7. Leave it as is!
8. Through my eyes it is perfect now.
9. Better quality and more varied restaurants
10. The playground it's inappropriate for the age of the children the wood is slippery and dangerous there is no area for young children to play on other
than the water park
11.
The Village Green needs more shade and seating overlooking the water. Better shade & seating facilities on Lake King at the swimming area. Shaving
point centre could also be developed to provide better facilities. The speed limit through the village needs to be slowed, to allow for a more village type
feel
12. 1. Parking spaces are few and far between. 2. Metung Road, between the Post Office and Shaving Point is abysmal. At best it is a 1 lane road and is
in a dangerous condition. I realise that this road is a VICROADS responsibility, but the shire has an obligation to bring this to their attention
13. The swimming beach could be upgraded with some more sand during summer seasons.
14. More off street parking. More BBQ near boat launching area at shaving point. Additional seating on the green
15. upgrade the village green, the toilets at the back beach, the parking on shavings point

16. The foreshore at the end of the village green
17. Some beautification of the Village Green, possibly with a meandering path through the green and creating a small hilly section to break it up and be
strategically placed for staging events, e.g. ANZAC day ceremonies and other functions
18.
The playground. I am not sure what was meant to be achieved. I took my 2 year old grandaughter on a cold day and the only thing she could go on
was the dish swing which she had to wait for. Not user friendly for small children. The water feature is great but was there before the "whatever"
development!
Shaving point is a mess and needs to be upgraded. Note it was absent from planning for upgrades as per Tambo and Nicholson jetties. The jetty is
substandard and parking is a nightmare as well as flooding. Parking behind the village shops on the lake king side needs improving. Walkway to
Stirling Road or up to Hardys road as many people walk along there and is potentially dangerous. The speed humps into Metung on the Metung road
require modification.
Also some monitoring of dogs off lead. I take my dogs for walks on lead and they are often confronted (including in the village centre) by dogs off lead.
Monitoring responsible dog ownership including picking up of dog excretement which is a problem on the board walk and beach road.
19. Along Beach Road I feel we require rubbish bins for people to place their rubbish in and also BBQ area between Mairburn Road & Archibald Drive on
Beach Road
20. The path ways all need to be standardised and shopping strips need more "colour"
21.
1. We need more trees and gardens in the two park areas.
2. The long-running refusal of Council to provide the rubbish collection which the local Mosquito Point ratepayers have requested (and in fact originally
paid for out of the surplus of the land sales at the time of subdivision); and which is an obvious corollary need for the tourism which is so encouraged
by Council. Notices about "street rubbish only" etc are just silly and illogical. Locals have suggested solutions. Implement them.
22. Better separation of rubbish and recycling in lager bins
23. Parking
24. Rubbish Collection during peak periods. This is just transport and logistics. Calculate how many people are at Mosquito Point and on the lakes at peak
times, average 10 per household (people have guests) calculate rubbish and provide enough regular pick up services to cope with the rubbish.
25.
Intersection of Metung Road and Kurnai Avenue is not pedestrian friendly. Metung Road is too dominated by vehicles. Need a stronger pedestrian
connection across Metung Road to Paterson Park - traffic management and road treatment to slow cars down and make the pedestrian experience
more pleasant. Shaving Point is an opportunity waiting to happen - at the moment it just looks and feels like a big car park.
26. Definately parking

27. Seating around the village green
28. The equipment at the park. Not enough for younger kids, it seems as though it's been designed for looks not practicality.
29. -More sand brought in regularly.
30. I think its fine
31. Not sure if this is the right answer to this question but Medical Services would be good. Also walking tracks fully along Stirling Road; in particular from
Metung Road to the Primary School. It can be quite dangerous walking to/from the Village.
32. varied attractions such as Music events or art shows on the village green.
33. Car parking restrictions to prevent people parking all day and on some occasions taking up prime parking for the extent of their stay
34. More seating at the park
35.
Another BBQ at the back beach would help during peak periods. Also a children's toilet at the park would be awesome! Just a single toilet, exclusively
for little children. It can be difficult for parents with multiple small children at the park. You have to pack up your entire belongings to take one child to
the toilet. Older children are able to cross the road and go to the public toilets but it can be hard with little ones and only one adult.
36. Need more variety, everything is a bit too similar. Nothing appealing to young adults other than the pub.
37. As mentioned previously , the relocation of the launching ramp and the development of shaving point as a picnic/barbecue area..
38. Car parking near hotel and store as it used to be. Event signage on village green. Part shade over water park. Extend water park to add more water
features.
39. The Village Green could do with a makeover, ie new seating/tables. Perhaps a garden bed. Shaving Point flood area could be addressed, where boat
trailers are parked. Remove a lot of, or consolidate into ONE informstion sign. The current plethora of signage is ugly.
40. More picnic tables and undercover rotunda in the village would be beneficial. But with that more available parking would help?
41.
The new playground needs to have a toilet! Families with young children/babies need somewhere to take their child FAST when they need to go to the
toilet. The back beach toilet block is too far when you have a toddler toilet training and this park is used by a lot of families with very young children.
Also more shelter/shade & better picnic table facilities at the back beach & Shaving point. Footpath from Hardys Rd/Metung Rd corner to link to
boardwalk at Chinamans Creek. Footpath from Metung Rd up Stirling Rd to create a safe pathway to Metung Primary School. Improved RV
availability/site.

44. Back beach area. Vacant shops to be filled.
45. Already good, wouldn't like too much development. Some public infrastructure a bit tired
46. The beach
47. phone coverage
48. perhaps one or two toilets discreetly place near the green for market days etc.
49.
Extension of the boardwalk through town and up to Shaving Point. A boardwalk on the otherside along Lake King would also be great.
Increased picnic benches on the green and more shade. Tidy up the BBQ area on the green - it looks dated and dirty. Toilet block on lake king beach
is ALWAYS dirty, locks are broken and lights don't work. This is the only public toilet in the village centre. The toilet block at shaving point is old, dark
and generally not that nice!
50. Less loud promotional activity centred on the Metung Hotel
51. Village green amenities
52.
It would be good for more youth centred activities like a Skate Park. The boardwalk or footpath to continue in a loop around Stirling Road. Public Toilets on village green or the park. Definitely need a large community hall, bigger than the RSL.
53. not really the centre, but there needs to be footpaths around Stirling Road/Metung Road area, especially for the kids to walk to/from school safely. a skatepark would be awesome too, as a place for the slightly older kids to go/hang out and be active - very keen to try and see this happen.
54. Car.boat, trailer speed. From Yacht club to shaving point 20 speed limit.
55. Shaving point Median strip in kurnai Ave
56. More seating in Parks and open areas.
57.
More could be done to maintain the beach on the Lake King side to make it attractive to residents and tourists in the Summer Months. For a number of years sand was deposited along the section of the beach near the village centre, and this was a draw card that invited families to remain in and around the village during their stay instead of going elsewhere during the day. Car parking could be improved along the Lake King side as well as this is at a premium during the high season. Jetties on both sides of the boat ramp would also be helpful to make it easier and safer for the numerous boats being launched and pulled out during peak season. The toilet block on Shaving Point needs upgrading as well
58. Like most of it. I do not like the brown brick on buildings
59.
Reduction in traffic through the summer and public holidays. Better parking away from the main section of Metung Road so the area adjacent to the Village Green was no parking and perhaps paved so that all commercial properties look more integrated. Would be great to divert all traffic away from precinct but not sure how you will get to Shaving Point - worth considering. Farmer" market could then be bigger and go across a bigger area if included the old road.

Toilet Block at Back Beach (Lake King) Provision of Toilet for Patterson Park Sealing of gravel road adjacent to Back Beach Toilet Block
62. Parking on market days, shuttle bus, a toilet on Patterson Park, a footpath that loops around from the school to the boardwalk at Riveria Nautica. We live on Highview Rise and would love for our kids to walk to school but the corner at the end of our street on Stirling Rd is too dangerous.
63. Could be more shops
64. Parking
65. I feel like the green is a great space, but something could be done to jazz it up a little bit. I am not sure what.
66. Put the main road around the back so that when you drive in you turn right at the post office then left to go towards the car park and pent he small picnic area so that the road continues along to shaving point
67.
The Village Green tables and BBQ area and even more so, the back beach. Both of these are old and ugly and not particularly user-friendly. The following is specifically about the back beach: the tables provide little protection from the sun and they're always being used; the clump of native grass near the jetty and the shrubby areas looks like they could have snakes; the last step down to the beach is really deep because the sand has washed away; my kids have cut their feet on barnacles and rocks so we have to wear thongs to go for a swim; there's no really shaded area; the beach area east (?) of the jetty isn't user-friendly; it's become more difficult for kids to swim and jump off the jetty recently with more boat traffic and ladder rungs that hurt feet.
68.
Behind the shops on the Lake King side. Very untidy, not welcoming, picnic tables and seats neglected, potholes. Extend the boardwalk or build a footpath along Metung Road and then up Stirling Road to join the footpath outside the primary school. Footpath should also be built all the way along Metung Road to Hardy's Road. It is currently very dangerous to walk along the road, especially when cars are driving at 80kms.
69. More shade over playground and water park. Another public toilet on Village Green side. Definitely more footpaths especially around Stirling Road, whole loop to link Boardwalk up Metung Road, Stirling Road up to school, also a footpath that extends up to Hardys Road bus stop and entrance to Kings Cove for school children to access.
70. I like the village the way it is now.
71.
Village green, the beach at Beach st, and the areas that have govt and other authority signs obstructing the beautifil views when they could be easily better located and still be visible to give their message, without all being on separate poles. Move the village green bbq to a location that doesnt block the view of the jetty and water, or take the roof off. Move the RSL war memorial to one corner, eg north west, to make better use of space. Move the rubbish bins near bbq and replace lwith seafing to view water and jetty.

I note that the Master Plan suggests improving the public interface and use of the village green as the community centre and I agree that that could be improved. I worry that the commercial enterprises surrounding the village green should NOT be alllowed to take up or impinge on public space & access as has occurred with the private townhouse development adjacent to the village green where public foreshore access has been closed off for exclusive use of only those staying there. In effect, all of the eastern side of the village is reserved for private and or commercial use ---apart from the village green and this is the only opportunity to glimpse the lake---apart from the tip of Shaving Point. I'd like an improvement for access to the very small "beach" at the edge of the village green and less emphasis on a "boat harbour" as there is already an enlarged & renovated marina near the yacht club and private jetties and moorings also abound and the jetty that exists already on the Metung pub side seems large enough but could be updated. I'd like to see a "promenade" that loops out from the village green and back again that encircles the small beach and increases public interaction with the lake and views beyond the village green. The existing jetty could be apart of this "loop" I agree with plans to improve the pedestrian aspect of the village as long as there is a provision for adequate public seating that is also artfully and well-designed and there is continuity in the design through out the village. More seating in the park opposite the post-office. In Tathra NSW there is public seating that is a take on the "banana lounge" design--made in curved slated wood which would also be appropriate as seating in Metung at appropriate spots.
73. Clean up the dog s**t that you find all through the the village green and shaving point
74. A continuation of a walking track from Rosherville Rd up Metung Rd to Stirling Rd would be a good start; plus an extension of the existing path from near the water tank on Stirling Rd down to Metung Rd.
75. Shaving Point needs a lot of improvement, looks very tired. Perhaps a gazebo with barbecue and seating facilities.
76.
As Metung expands and Kings Cove nears completion , in a few years time, the Village Centre will be put to the test. More shops will be needed and more parking will have to be accommodated. Any property that faces Metung Road between the Moorings to Howitt Avenue should be soley commercially zoned and any residence should only be permitted upstairs. This is the most important issue in the Village Centre looking forward! Stop any residential planning in this strip, commercial only!
77. No boat or caravan parking in the village centre. Make the village centre a 30 or 40kph speed zone. Put public toilets more central; eg in Patterson Park or in the car park next to Hookers?
78.
Parking is always an issue and hard to solve. Too many cars are an eyesore but lack of parking would make access to the centre of the village impossible, particularly for older residents. Perhaps the Shire could acquire one of the house blocks opposite the RSL and turn it into sensitively planned parking! A better but more expensive option would be to acquire the block of land for sale next to the Metung Hotel and make more parking there but with sensitive plantings fronting the road and Bancroft Bay to hide the cars. The BBQ area and seating on the Village Green could be modernised without increasing the overall size.
79. The water area behind the shops on Lake King.
80. The beach area - Lake King side

(1) The back beach is a major concern. Currently the beach has not been cleaned (first time for many years) which discourages families from swimming - log on the beach, lots of seaweed but also with the new jetty signage now conforming to State Gov regulations no swimming is allowed within 20m, which basically excludes all swimming for families. Metung needs a safe, clean beach to attract families. Our extended family always used to sit on the beach to enjoy swimming and boating activities but now go elsewhere. (2) Shaving Point. - This provides the only boat ramp in the area suitable for all boating activity. The parking is adequate except during peak season. Additional signage to designate the boat rigging area would be useful as there are oftem cars parked in this area making it difficult for boats to enter are be retrieved from the ramp. Perhaps bitumen marking would help? - Designated boat trailer parking and specific areas for cars only might be useful so that single cars don't take up valuable trailer parking space. Additional trailer parking would be useful especially in high usage times. - Toilet block needs upgrading. Perhaps to the standard of the Lake King block. - Additional signage to advise fisherman that Boats have priority over fishing when using the Ramp as there have been occasions when some inconsiderate people fishing don't appreciate that it can be difficult to dock a boat in both busy times and difficult conditions. I am both a (considerate) fisherman and boat owner. 3. Speed limits on Beach Rd. There is an advisory sign suggesting 40km/h however Beach Road is a dual road/walking path so putting a speed limit of 40km/h or even 30km/h would make it safer for pedestrains. 4. Metung Rd/ Rosherville Rd near Swan Reach. Currently there is a Give Way sign on Rosherville Rd at the intersection however it is a blind intersection for cars coming from Swan Reach so a Stop Sign on Rosherville Rd would be safer. It is not a blind corner for cars approaching from Metung.
82. The two sides of town don't link well. We can do better to utilise the natural wonders of Metung and make it an even better hidden gem.
83. Shaded areas
84. Beach on Lake King can be improved for locals and visitors - beach surface/weed build up/average picnic facilities/vegetation along shore line can be improved. Improve the seaside village theme - look at similar coastal hamlets overseas for ideas. Not village but the Marina fees will prohibit small boat owners from using facility. Metung does not need big expensive boats in Marina, more local boats.
85. Back beach needs improving. Kids cannot use it. Looks terrible/unsightly. Can we dump sand on it? Poor access. Jump off the jetty - they hate it. What's the ski boat rules?
86. Traffic flow - reduce speed to 40km/h. Site lines coming into town. Maintain vegetation along road. Seating on board walk. Maintenance on board walk.
87. More public toilets i.e. Village Green. Increased power switchboard i.e. Village Green. Night lighting for Village Green.
88. Public toilets at Apex Park end. Would love to have hot/cold showers available for boaties. Happy to pay!
89. Parking - especially at picnic ground and along beach road. Great big dip at back of shops in road causes damage to car.
90. More seating around the perimeter of the village green for events such as ANZAC day where seating is at a premium. Perhaps convert the tops of ALL the timber fencing around the edge to seating rather than just a few. I think we also desperately need a 'leash free' area for our many Metung dogs to enjoy. I think the back beach over near the toilet block is the most obvious place for this.
91. Access to the waterfront. i.e. confusion of the board walk to town centre with improvement in quality of beach/swimming experience on Lake King.
92. More public toilets i.e. Village Green. Increased power switchboard i.e. Village Green. Night lighting for Village Green.

It definitely needs a bus service to connect to V-Line in Bairnsdale & to Lakes Entrance.
A recreation centre with a heated pool. This would suit young & old & would attract more people to live here. I've asked around & the older members of
the community say they would use a pool! I'm sure the young members would too.
A community building that could be used for multi purposes for interest groups (such as Artists, writing groups, photography groups, music groups,
etc). A building that could also be used for any interest groups to hire at times.
An exhibition space.
A performance space ( even a stage & outdoor soundshell).
Ideally a performing Arts Centre & the establishment of a theatre group & home for singing groups & choirs.
A register of existing groups to be made up & a contact available to new people or interested locals & funding bodies to know what & who is in the
area.
A Mozzie eradication plan!

things like the bbq area on the village green are utilitarian and need to be upgraded to suit the park and play ground. the same goes for the toilets at
the back beach. it is always good to see a town with lots of people socializing together. Metung is such a beautiful land mark and place to visit.
perhaps signage along the highway with pictures may point more people to metung as those who haven't visited may not know what they are missing
13. Nothing I can think of.
14. Some more permanent seating would be appreciated
15. Lead free area for dogs.
16. BBQ's on Beach Road near Mairburn Road
17. Public Toilets and more car parking the latter difficult of course.
18. Keep it quiet, simple, green. Do not add more built environment. Do not allow further incursion of cars.
19. A public notice board explaining council efforts and positions on issues like commercial fishing licences
20. More shade
21. Better rubbish bins on shaving point, lake king, the marina and on the village green.
22. A much more intimate treatment of Metung Road to enhance the village feel.
23. An under cover area
24. More waterfront cafes and areas to enjoy the view
25. More parking. Regular Roadside garden maintenance.
26. -Standard double kids swing at the park
27. Yes, an authentic Italian Pizzeria restaurant open in the evenings. Not a greasy spoon with pineapple on pizza. A real Italian Pizzeria. There are

28. Artisan items in retail outlets. There are a lot of talented people in Metung. Perhaps a co op featuring their creations would work
29. Car parking restrictions implemented to prevent people parking all day in the village

A few shade trees, as families congregate under the few on Patterson Park. Not large gums, but Jakarandahs or Crepe Myrtles, adding colour and
beauty. A theme of Jakaranda trees throughout the entire Village and encouragement for residents to also plant them in their private gardens, thereby
adding a reason to visit Metung for the beautiful lilac colour en masse.
34. A community garden near town. Free plots. Outdoor gym equipment near the beach on beach road.
35.
I would like to see a outdoor fitness/exercise stations put in around Shaving Point, Beach Road & the Metung Rd Boardwalk, creating a circuit,
unobtrusive signs with exercises to do at each stop.
A public/community hall/centre - I believe there is land set aside for this on Stirling Rd opposite the school. There is nowhere large enough for
community groups/exercise classes/school concerts/community gatherings etc. Nungurner does not have a hall anymore either and it could be used
by the whole community.

43. Better bar b q facilities and power supply
44. Public Toilets other than at the back beach. As above regarding the hall, footpath and skatepark, and also more shade over the playground and water park.

same as above, but also in the Mt Buller region they have a Gnome Trail, where garden gnome type statues are dotted around the place (cemented in, probably, to avoid theft) and when you visit you can go and find them as you travel towards the snow area... we could run the same sort of thing, or a fairy trail - just to engage visitors some more. Have maps available at the local shop or cafes... it would be really cool for the area. To this day we still look for gnomes in bush areas, because of that experience we had at Mt Buller over two years ago.

Yes, a restaurant that opens at night time! On Monday and Tuesday nights the ONLY choice is the over-priced pub restaurant; the rest of the week is over-priced Nautica. Even the fish and chips at Nautica are expensive and between Christmas and New Year I waited OVER TWO HOURS to get fish and chips, they were so busy. There needs to be a cheaper eat in or takeaway cafe option and that opens at night. Ideally something near the water park, like Tony and Helen's old marine shop; and/or something on the back beach ... even, say, a semi-permanent kind of food van with a sustainable living focus (e.g. the Sustainable Organic Food Trailer at Torquay). I know people who stayed here in early January and they went to buy some snacks at about 6.30pm but the general store had closed, so they drove to Swan Reach but they too had closed, so they had to drive to Lakes Entrance; they didn't want an expensive sit-down meal, which was all Metung had to offer. I think Metung is in danger of being over-rated, it's over-priced and not really got a lot on offer. Maybe the bakery should move into the old Tallowwood shop and expand.
60. Community hall
61.
Definitely need a large Community Hall. Would be good to make school more of a hub, put in a skate ramp or other facility, or even the hall up there. More car parking needed around school also.
62. No.
63. Paterson park, village green, Beach st beach area all need informal structures to sit on and watch whats going on, not more bench seats but imaginative things that can be used as casual seating, around the perimeters of areas so the natural open space is retained, ie functional artworks. Fitness posts along boardwalk with a couple at paterson park for the many people who exercise along this route.

Public art works that are truly modern & visionary by national/international artists would be a great addition to the village--please no more rusting metal pelicans, fish or boats!! An information centre/art & craft gallery More general information signs about the history of the area---an acknowledgement of the Gunai/Kurnai people and their use of the land and the importance of the area to the first Australians.
65. More seating and more shade trees. Free 24 hour camping sites on beach road.
66. Not really.
67. A community meeting centre, but where would it go?
68. The Village Centre needs more deciduous trees for shelter over summer in the two parks. Another table and roof structure on the Back Beach would be well received. Solar fairy lights in the trees in the centre of town would give Metung more night appeal.
69. Public Toilets. Better power supply to village green for events.
70. Some picnic tables in the shade under the trees on the west side of the Village Green, near the cafes. The current tables plonked down in a line in front of the little beach are not particularly attractive. Perhaps scatter them to each side and leave the centre free.
71.
(1) Lake King Beach - jetty right hand side. A safe clean beach for family activities. Perhaps some consideration should be given to 'fencing' off the jetty on both sides so that families can swim and enjoy activities without impacting the mooring of boats. (2) Lake King Beach - jetty left hand side. There is also a nice beach area to the left of the jetty which is under utilised. Perhaps consideration to enhancing this area and provide picnic areas between the beach and the shops would also encourage people to utilise the area. (3) Signage. Whilst Metung Village Centre is not a large area, some additional signage pointing to Lake King Beach would be helpful for people who don't visit often. (4) Shaving Point. It would be useful to have some sort of barrier to prevent the boat trailer parking from flooding regularly. (5) Take Away food. Currently only a Bakery and Fish and Chip take away are available but in the past there was a general take away shop near the AMCAL Pharmacy which was well utilised by visitors and locals. We now go to Swan Reach or Johnsonville for takeaways. (6) Its disappointing to see so many restaurants closed for evening meals and also vacant businesses. Its understood that the number of people eating out in Metung at other than the Hotel is limited but is is not a good look to attract people to the Village.
72. I don't think anything needs to be added to the town centre but better linkages need to be made to existing infrastructure. For example people can't walk or ride safely into town from Tambo Bluff estate as it has no link to the neighbouring kings cove. If linked people can ride and walk across town and enjoy the cafe at the golf club
73. More BBQ.
74. Seaside feel in Village. A community meeting place i.e. community house!
75. Poor access to the back beach area. Develop other beach to east of jetty. Maximise access through village past shops not through car park.
76. Drainage at Shaving Point to prevent constant flooding. Small children's play equipment.
77. Not the village centre - but nice sandy beach on west side.

3. An Arts Centre to put Metung on the map as an artist community as there are many very very talented artists here.
4. Renovate the green
5. Better signage
6. More public sculpture..
7. The attraction of Metung has always been the simplicity of the Village green. A place to kick a ball or just sit and meet people /friends.....I don't think it
needs Changing.
8. Leave it as it is and maintain quality
9. Nothing it's perfect how it is
10. Slow traffic throught the village.
11. Move the boardwalk at Shaving Point outwards further into Lake King, so as to widen the road to enable 2 lanes to be constructed. Burying of power
lines and the removal of telegraph and power poles
12. Foreshore enhancement on Lake King.
13. Phone charging points?
14. Better landscaping of the area at the Lake King Beach
15. Improved native landscaping in the village centre to reflect coastal area. Good from village edge to end of board walk at shaving point then nothing.
16. A delicatessen with a fruit shop.
17.
Footpaths need to be more attractive and connect to the main jetty and standardised through out the village and more street trading.
Allow The Boat Storage Business to access the boat ramp in Chinamens Creek to reduce the through traffic through the village.
18. No further developments like Nautica

21. Make Metung Road more pedestrian-friendly through the village - wider footpaths, kerb outstands, street trees, road narrowing and pavement
treatment to make the area more like a shared zone.
22. Waterfront café
23. Parking and the park equipment.
24. Sand sand sand please to be placed on the village green side & where the jetty & toilet block is.
25. I dont have one

27. See #3 or maybe a Men's Shed
28. Car parking restrictions would greatly improve the time cars and trailers are aloud to congest the village
29. Car parking is sometimes a problem but not sure how this can be improved
30. Don't know.
31. More outdoor eating spaces for eating. More modern shops for tourists.
32. Traffic!!
33. Car parking
34. See previous responses.
35. Large undercover, sheltered rotunda next to a new community garden.
36. Outdoor exercise stations. Improved baby facilities at back beach.
37. You can't improve it - leave it alone, other than toilets
38. keep people with BIG ideas out!
39. Close off the road through the village and divert around the back of the shops, making the village centre a mall

44. Anything to stop further commercialisation.
45. Pedestrianise Kurnai Ave between hotel and the green except for market days
46. more footpath to at least go around Stirling Road for children walking to school. Ideally extending up to Kings Cove entry at Hardys Road.
47. Public Toilets so you dont have to walk to the beach or take the kids to the pub
48. Speed of cars & boat trailers.
49. Remove unsightly garden on median strip in kurnai Ave. make the fig tree a feature with maybe a seat surrounding it and have seats at least facing the water instead of Metung Rd
50. Make the Lake King beach more attractive to visitors and more usable for the community.
51. Mmmm no more brown brick buildings
52. Get rid of through traffic on Metung Road between Kurnai Avenue to bend in Metung Road - there are other options.
53. Nothing needs improving
54. Skatepark
55. Rehabilitation of Back beach including dredging/removal of sharp rocks and installation of sand from bullock island
56. A footpath path to join from the school to the boardwalk at Riveria Nautic.
57. A deli would be good. Featuring local produce and local wine. Like the one in Stratford and Yarragon.
58. Remove traffic from the main shopping area
59. A cafe or food van on the back beach.
60. Footpaths so that people can do a loop around the Village without having to walk on roads

63.
Make the village green adaptable to performance art of different types. Incorporate a sound shell or raised area for staging performances and annual
events like chroistmas carols, that would encourage more use for musical or theatre shows.
Add structures around perimeter that can be functional as seting for percormance or just watching the water and the boats co e and go.
Move the structures that take up space and block views of the water, ie the RSL war memorial and the BBQ shelter.
Upgrade the technical facilitiea needed to service community events like seafood festival, monthly markets, christmas carols, fun run, movie nights and
allow more to be encouraged.
Retain the coastal charm of the centre by restricting development height and type.
64. Expand the village green by removing the car parking and roadway between the green and the pub and shop keeping the large trees in place
65. Clean up the dog s**t and improve beaches for the children. Most beaches are rock based
66. Don't change much at all - maybe slow the traffic in the main road during busy times.
67. As previously indicated: walking tracks.
68. Some significant and aesthetically appropriate marine sculptures.
69.
Metung has under utilised walking tracks. This actually impinges on the Village and its centre. We walk a great deal around Metung and people who visit the Centre also like to walk around Metung's walking tracks before or after they engage in the variety of what's on offer at the restaurants and cafes in the Village Centre. Walking and taking in the beauty of Metung is a fundamental part of what most visitors do. They are linked more than people give credit to. The problems with this are that walking tracks are not clearly marked and there are walking tracks that are not obvious and in some cases they have been deliberately blocked, either physically or through verbal misleading information. Here are some examples. There is public access down the road reserve at the eastern end of Christmas Street that leads on to Metung Road. This needs walking track signage at both ends and it needs some maintenance so that both residents of Metung and tourists know that it exists. There is a sensational public walkway with the best views in Metung, across Bancroft Bay and the Marina that runs from Metung Road opposite, just before the hard stand coming from the village, to the Lawrence Crt walkway, just before you it intersects with Metung Rd. This wonderful walkway has no signage and the resident on the Lawrence Crt end has physically blocked off the end access point with multiple hurdles including a seat. Council land should not be blocked off to the public.
70. Basically leave it alone; if it ain't broke don't fix it. Keep it as a quite casual sleepy village like it is in winter.
71.
Cut traffic in half by making a one-way system through the village and then around the back of the shops fronting Lake King opening up the area under the pine trees opposite The Moorings. Then slightly raise and 'Herringbone' brick the centre of the Village road to give the look of a pedestrian Mall. If, and only if, other parking spaces have been provided, then six to eight parking spaces could be removed in this area on both sides of the road to allow the cafes and other seating to spill further into street.
72. Boating facilities at Shaving Point - primarily additional parking for boat trailers and prevent the flooding of the current trailer parking area and clear signage on usage of the area.

73. Better seating that allows people to enjoy village green using locally sourced timber to match Patterson's park. Look at making street lighting like in Dandenong that have colours that change as a way of incorporating arts
74. Like it how itbis
75. Do not build more commercial accommodation in Village. Improve the Lake King side for beach and picnic use.
76. Develop park under cypress
77. Public toilets/showers
78. Put better play equipment in Patterson Park.
79. Shaving Point probably needs a bit of a re vamp. Try not to make it too modern looking though. Try and keep it within the keeping of the rest of Metung. We don't want it to look too flashy. Please NO stainless steel and glass structures for Metung full stop!

1. I would like to see people enjoying the last grassed public open area as they have done in the past
2. More picnic seating and shade
3. Nothing. This is an important green grassed area and should be left as such. Upgrading the cenotaph would be good. Bbq area needs doing up but
not expanded
4.
A state of the art gallery with lots of glass walls so that you can still see the water from it. It could be a state of the art stunning piece, a very mini, yet
Chique Fed Square right here in Metung. Interesting angles, interesting contents, for interesting residents. It could have a cafe inside overlooking the
water. The market stalls could be held indoors. It could house meeting rooms too. This would cover everything...except the pool...but it could have a
water wall like the National Gallery !
5. Landscaped and designed better.
6. Better bbq facilities. More use as a public space ie bands, movies etc
7. More picnic tables waterside .. more public seating street side
8. Leave it as is please!
9. Nothing more than what is already happening
10. Leave it how it is
11. It needs to keep its vista to the water and beyond. It is a great open space and should be treated as such. Unobtrusive shade structures and seating

30. More events. Music and Art
31. The Farmers market move permanently to Kings Cove Golf club
32. The Cenotaph is often disrespected with children climbing on it etc.

46. More use of the green
47. Leave it as open community space but maybe with public toilet and more bbq/picnic area.

69. Nothing much except better power supply, reserve the small beach for kids swimming (get rid of jet skis, etc).
70. Other than minor titivation as suggested in relation to the BBQ area and seating, the Village Green needs to remain an open, flat area to cater for events such as the Farmers Market, Anzac Day and Remembrance Day parades etc.
71. It needs to stay versatile for its existing usages. It would be useful to provide shade over the tables and more seating around the perimeter. A Public Toilet in the central town area should be considered for both visitors and Metungs older population.

1. Metung Marina or the Launching ramp at Shaving Point.
2. Shaving point jetty area
3. Put it back at the yacht club. The excuse from mosquito point residents that it is too far to carry rubbish to the toilet block behind the yacht club is crap.
There is a low landing at the yacht club they can use too.
4. Shaving Point?
5. Need more storage or more frequent removal in peak periods especially. It doesn't look like there's enough space for it all.
6. Either in the current space or at the marina area
7. Why not at the yacht club? It's where most Mosquito Point residents pass through.
8.
Apart from the busy season the rubbish bins are in the perfect place. More collections in January would help. Also those bins are used by the many
more boats accomodated by the enlarged main jetty..... where would the boat owners leave their waste? It's not only Mosquito Point residents that use
them.
9. Fine where they are
10.
Move them to either the Yacht Club precinct or Shaving point precinct. Not really sure why the centre of the village needs to be available for Mosquito
Points Residents. Most park their cars at the Yahct Club, and they have boats to get to and from the Mosquito Point, so surely they could drop their
rubbish in a less conspicuous spot.
11. Given that all bar 1 family are holiday makers and not residents. And given that all these holiday makers park their vehicles at the Yacht Club car park,
then I see no reason why all the bins cannot be placed behind the Yacht Club
12. Have them moved to an area that is not so public as they are an eyesore.

15. Away from the village green, possibly at shaving point
16. A compound at the yacht club would be less obtrusive (and eliminate the smells) next to the green
17. Provide them on Mosquito point and charge residents a fee to remove via barge. Keep rubbish bins as outside post office for rubbish and recycling in
other strategic areas in the village, on shaving point and along the boardwalk to chinamans creek.
18. Keep the bins near the Village Green as it is central to all
19. Exactly where they are, close to the jetty but made less obvious.
20.
EITHER Leave them where they are, increase the number and enlarge the enclose suitably; OR negotiate with the pub to put them in their parking
area. The latter is much less preferred because (as is not acknowledged in the wording of this question) the great bulk of rubbish is from tourists and
boat folk. They will still need bins. The Shire needs to recognise that rubbish is an inevitable consequence of visitors and ratepayers.
21. There should be bins where they are but also at the yacht club.they need to be bigger at the opening so that rubbish can be separated efficiently
22. Not sure
23. see above, Council should have foreseen this problem with the increase of dwellings on Mosquito point ( I have been there for 57 years) and
recreational boating.
24.
Mosquito Point residents should take their rubbish to the tip like everyone else! Public space in such a prominent location should not be dedicated to a
rubbish disposal facility for a few wealthy residents on the other side of Bancroft Bay. Alternatively find a different location and make them carry their
rubbish.

26. Why would the village green be housing the rubbish for mosquito point? They need a dumpster just for them, perhaps near the yacht club parking

36. Put it opposite the moorings at the end of the shops or at the back of the shops between them and the back beach. Alternatively or as well put a bank

37. More frequent collections, in the busy season.
38. Unsure
39. Yacht Club Precinct as that is where most of their boats are kept or cars left.
40. Up near the Yacht club or Shaving Point
41.
The bins are not intrusive where they are. Why do Mosquito Point residents get this service? We are just out of the Village and have to look after our
own waste collection. If they are to be provided with a service then why not use bins at Yacht Club Marina or organise with Tambo Waste to have bins
on peninsula and use Sampson to collect?. Bins at Village Green should be restricted to boaties using the jetties there.
42. Need to ensure ample rubbish bins for the public jetty and this impacts on bins for Mosquito point residents. Would be preferable to move mosquito
point bins out of view of the public area. Shaving Point perhaps or have bins picked by the "ferry" that regularly docks at shaving point.

54. Could these be relocated to Shaving point without interfering with the parking for boats & trailers, or the picnic area in the middle for visitors?
55. bins have to easily accessible to residents at mosquito point. They are an eyesore at the moment. I'd prefer them moved closer to boat ramp at shaving point and that they are out of view of public.
56. Move the bins to the back of the Metung Yacht Club.
57. Maybe these to be relocated
58. Somewhere else
59. Doesn't worry me to much either where they are opposite the pub or a shavings point
60. Moved to the Yacht club.
61. OK where they are

63. Arrange for a monthly barge to collect rubbish from bins located at mosquito point
64. Shaving Point
65. Shavings Point or Yacht Club Marina.
66. I don't have a problem with them.
67.
If the holiday residents of mosquito point keep their cars parked at the yacht club, and bring their boats across to the marina jetties to get to them, then
it seems logical to put adequate facility for them to use something in the car park opposite the yacht club that a garbage truck can get to. Jt would be
on tbe same side of road as their boat. There seems to be enough space of the same area as at the village green. Why make them tie up in town to
drop rubbish and then go to marina to get their car?
68. Move them.
69. Hot issue. Somewhere that is convenient to the residents. What about a drop off point at Mosquito Point that the Council truck can go to on the
barge? Shaving Point and behind the Yacht Club all have issues.
70. Relocate the the facility to Mosquito Point. The residents there pay rates and as such are entitled to this type of service.
71. Can't think of a practical alternative. Needs to be where the boating fraternity and visiting tourists can off load their rubbish. Perhaps they could be
encouraged to take it home!
72. Rubbish bins need to be spread out across the Village. The newer recycling bins are very good.

73.
If these bins only service the Mosquito Point residents then why not put them at Mosquito Point & have a barge pick up from there? I doubt though that
this is the case and many other users particularly events on the village green (eg market, BBQ users, casual boat visitors dump there. Why not include
them in a screened enclosure together with the BBQ facility & a wash up facility & possibly a toilet in the same location.
74. If the Shire acquires the block of land beside the Metung Hotel for parking, then the bins could be relocated there. Alternatively, more bins could be
located in the car parking area opposite the Yacht Club, provided suitable screening takes place.
75.
Don't see this as an issue as they are out of the way and landscaping is reasonable. I assume they are convenient for the Mosquito Point owners who
come across for supplies and lunch in the Village. However if they are to be moved, then perhaps the area outside the Yacht Club near the new
marina as there are existing bins for boating use there anyway.
76. They are fine where they are. All they need is a new holding facility which again could tie in with landscaping principles from Patterson's park so the
town has an overarching design look to it
77. Put in a screened off area behind store/hotel.
78. They need to be more frequent. What about supplying dog poo bags.
79.
Well for starters we need more of them! I didn't realise that they were for mosquito point residents. That would explain why they can often be found
overflowing! I've often wondered how they could possibly be so full. I don't mind too much that they are there but I don't really like it either. Perhaps
they could be relocated to Shaving Point somewhere but then I am guessing that that would not be a terribly handy place to have them as far as the
residents of Mosquito Point are concerned. I presume they mostly tie up out front of the pub which is how they ended up there in the first place.
Personally I think the best option would be for the bins to be located on Mosquito Point itself which would make it much more convenient for the
residents I'm sure and would in turn stop the problem of the overflowing bins on the Village Green. The shire could then send the rubbish truck over on
the barge once a week to empty them and all would be well with the world.
