Međukulturni Bonton/Intercultural Manners
27th October-05th November 2017. Đurđevac, Croatia
INFO PACK
Results of research and political reaction in Europe show, on the example of the current
migrant crisis in Europe, that we as a society are still unprepared to meet with different
cultures, despite all the supposed changes and all the different policies of relating with it.
We aim to encourage intercultural dialogue that our participants will continue in their local
communities and raise the impact of the project on an international level. We hope that the
skills and competences acquired in this project will be a useful tool for the dissemination of
cultural tolerance, dialogue and sense of belonging to European society.
Tangible results : developing an e-book which reflects the knowledge and products of the
project, which will serve to raise awareness of issues that this project deals with. The stories
of refugees that will be participating in the exchange, will be turned into scripts by all of the
participants for the creation of a set of theater performances that will be held on the local,
national and international levels.
Key words: intecultural dialogue, refugees, theatre of the opressed, peer learning,
ethnocentrism, media literacy, critical thinking, tolerance, active youth
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The aim of this project is to stimulate discussion among young people on the topic of
intercultural relations in the context of the migrant crisis, and demonstrate methods to
actualize this topic among their peers in their local community, and ways to approach
problems and phenomena related to intercultural relations.
Through various broader and specific thematic workshops on intercultural relations (such as
the theme of women and children among the refugees, conections of media sensationalism
and political populism, good and bad practices relating refugees), another objective is to
familiarize the participants with the ways of positive action in their own social contexts and
further.
- Increasing awareness of other cultures and perspectives
- Awareness of one's own ethnocentrism
- Development of critical thinking
- Increased level of media literacy
- Informed debate on the subject of refugees and intercultural relations
We aim to encourage intercultural dialogue that our participants will continue in their local
communities and raise the impact of the project on an international level.
We hope that the skills and competences acquired in this project will be a useful tool for the
dissemination of cultural tolerance, dialogue and sense of belonging to European society.

THE VENUE
The exchange is going to take place in a town called Đurđevac in the Koprivnica-Križevci
County. Đurđevac is very famous for ''Đurđevački peski'', the only desert of this kind in
Southeastern Europe.
This is a protected botanical area, with distinctive habitats of a large number of endemic
species, unique flora and fauna, and visible forms of sand dunes, it is known as ''Croatian
Sahara''.
We are going to stay in a very nice 4 star hotel in the center of Đurđevac. Participants will be
in rooms with 2 or 3 beds. Mixed nationalities of the same gender will share rooms.
The venue is equipped with a conference room where all activities will be held, a restaurant
where we will have all the meals and a disco only for us where we will have the intercultural
evenings.
Here you can check how the hotel looks : http://hotel-picok.hr/
PARTICIPANT PROFILE
Please try to mind the gender balance in your group, also half of the participants in your teams
should be in one of the categories : Immigrants, refugees, geographically disadvantaged and
cultural differences. All the legal things regarding the refugee status and their mobility we
will help to solve, please don't give up on including them just because it is a bit more things to
do.
We expect teams of five participants from eighteen to thirty years old and one adult (18+)
team leader from six different countries: Croatia, Turkey, Greece, Germany, Bosnia and
Herzegovina and Sweden.
IMPORTANT:
Partners have the responsibility of choosing participants, preparing them for exchange (after
you select them we will send you the 2nd infopack where we will explain how to prepare the
participants) and helping them arrange the best and cheapest travel route to the venue.
The teams should be formed until 20th of July. After that the partners collect the Participant
Registration Form (in the attachment) from all participants and send it to us.

Maximum travel costs per participants are:
Country Max. amount
Germany 275 €
Sweeden 275 €
BiH 180 €
Greece 275 €

The amount of money allowed doesn't mean that you should spend it all, but this is the
maximum that can be reimbursed. All participants should try to find the cheapest travel route.
The reimbursement of the travel costs will be done upon receiving all tickets and boarding
passes.
Please remember that the reimbursement can only be done if we receive all of the original
tickets, bills and boarding passes!
Please don't book any tickets before our approval.
INSURANCE
Every participant should have valid health insurance (for example European Health Card for
the EU members) during their stay on the project. This means that if you don't have your own
insurance, the organizer doesn't bear any responsibilities towards the participant. That is why
every participant should purchase their own insurance on time.
Health insurance will not be provided or reimbursed by the hosts. All participants should
purchase health insurance individually.
We highly recommend to book cancellation insurance. This insurance is in case you miss your
flight, you get ill or someone in your family gets injured or sick and you cannot participate on

participate in the program.
