ABOUT MOUNTAINFILM IN TELLURIDEMountainfi lm is America’s premier festival of mountain, adventure, cultural and environmental fi lm and video, cel-ebrating its 30th year. We accept and screen fi lms on a broad range of subjects that include but are not limited to mountains and mountain sports. As declared by the United Nations in 2002, the International Year of the Moun-tains: “If you drink water, you are connected to the mountains.”
FILM SELECTION INFORMATIONA screening committee chooses offi cial festival selections and juries all entries. Finalists’ fi lms will be viewed by a festival jury for awards and cash prizes to be announced at the Closing Picnic, Monday, May 26, 2008.
SHORT FILMSWe particularly encourage fi lmmakers to submit short fi lms. While the majority of our submissions are feature length, more than half of all Mountainfi lm offi cial selections are less than 30 minutes in length and nearly 90% are 60 minutes or shorter.
THEME FOR 2008The central theme of the 2008 MOVING MOUNTAINS SYMPOSIUM will be WATER, a thread that will be woven throughout the weekend of fi lms and talks. We encourage fi lmmakers to submit fi lms that explore or celebrate the Earth’s most vital , and endangered, resource.
