Reads As part of the elementary departments annual program, Grade 6 students went on a graduation trip and visited tourist spots in Manila and in Ilocos provinces last September 16-18, 2015.

The first day of the tour started in Manila. After having lunch, the group, headed by Grade 6 advisers Teacher Kim Sangtae and Teacher Jordan Concepcion, visited the kilometer zero of the Philippines called Rizal Park or popularly known as Luneta. Afterwards, they visited the Philippine National Museum art gallery building where the most historic and meaningful paintings, sculptures, and artifacts were housed. In the afternoon, the team flew to Ilocos and arrived at around 7PM.

The morning of the second day of the tour happened in Laoag. This included the visit of the most famous churches in the province which were hundreds of years inISSUE No. 2 | August - December | A.Y. 2015existence. The teachers and the students tried extreme activities such as sand boarding and a ride on a off-road jeep. Also, the trip was highlighted with a personal chance to see the preserved remains of the former president of the Philippines, Ferdinand Marcos, in the museum named after him. In the afternoon, the group had an almost two-hour drive to Vigan, the patch of Spain in the country. In here, the group experienced riding on a calesa, a horse-drawn carriage, and ringing a tower bell. Also, they had the chance to shop for gifts and souvenirs.

The last day of the tour was spent in Pagudpud which is known for white-sand beaches. Aside from going up a lighthouse, the team also had the chance to see the Bangui windmills and experienced the longest zip line over water in Hannahs Beach Resort. Around 6PM, the group checked in for their flight back to Manila. Around 10 PM, the team got home.Graduation Trip 2015, heldPark Yeo Eun leads SC election After the Student Council Election was held on September 3, 2015, Park Yeo Eun of Grade 6 was declared as president. Kim Yeong Seong of Grade 5 and Lee Jaewon of Grade 6 won as vice presidents.

Before the actual election which was supervised by the Korean teachers, the candidates had the chance to throw their platforms to get support from other elementary students.

The student council election gave the students a brief preview of how a national election of government officials really happens. The elected student council officials were recognized by the principal of Manila Hankuk Academy, Kwak In Hwan.

Elementary students and teachers joined hands together in a two-day spiritual retreat held at Pranjetto Hills Resort last September 23-24, 2015 which included activities that promote not only recreation but fellowship.

The retreat committee invited a spiritual leader for the event who organized small and big fellowship groups, and led the praise and worship part. The retreat allowed students and teachers to get to know one ano-Elementary Dept. holds 2nd Spiritual Retreatther in an informal environment and minister to the spiritual needs of the school community.

This semesters spiritual retreat emphasized community and faith coupled with activities to bring children into a closer relationship with each other and with God. Activities include icebreakers, prayer exercises and faith-focused team building activities. This event also aimed to help the students develop a strong prayer life.

ictionary.com defines the word thanksgiving as gratefulacknowledgment of favors, especially to God, and indeed to God were all blessings and praises as Manila Hankuk Academy once more held its grand Thanksgiving Day on November 18, 2015.

As it was in previous years, MHA took a break from academic activities to concertedly offer gratitude and appreciation to the Lord. This special day was filled with celebrations highlighted by special performances from both Korean and Filipino teachers. Students from different departments also shared their talents by rendering special numbers all for the glory of God.

The keynote message for the event was delivered by none other than Pastor Mun Hyong Chae of Manila New Life Church. His message centered on being grateful to the Lord at all times. He pointed out that everyone should always be joyful and prayerful, giving thanks to God in all circumstances. Pastor Mun added that people should not forget all the blessings that come from the AlmightyGod is never changing, and He continues to show His love for His people, being such as men are altogether unworthy of His benefits; they flow not from the merit of men, but from the mercy of God.MHA visits

The Elementary Department of Manila Hankuk Academy went to Dream Play in Paranaque City for its semestral field trip last November 11, 2015. The students and teachers experienced a day of fun and ex-citement as they tried different activities like tunnel slide, wall climbing and watching 4D movies. Here are the pictures taken.God's Word is the cornerstone of discipline. As Proverbs 22:6 puts it, Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

It was on this premise that the Elementary Department conducted the Bible Verse Memory Contest on November 23, 2015. As a yearly event, the contest aimed to instill in children a love for God's Word and to train them in knowing Bible verses by heart.

This year, the department focused on verses from the Books of Romans and Deuteronomy. Students from Grades 2, 4, and 6 garnered perfect scores in reciting all 24 verses involved. Forty-one students in all gave an impressive performance of reciting Bible verses from memory. The winners received certificates of recognition and ice cream coupons.

Chell Baldomero The annual showcase of talents of the students from the elementary department known as MHA Dream was once again held last November 6, 2015. Students and teachers presented a play based on the novel turned to movie The Chronicles of Narnia written by the Christian author C.S. Lewis. In between scenes were special performances of songs, dances, playing of instruments, and Taekwondo exhibition.

The show was directed by teacher Han Kyoung Hyoun, Grade 4 adviser, with the help of other teachers. The performances which were well applauded were the fruits of a month of daily practices.
