MHRC NEWSLETTER JUNE 2020
Well, we’re back! It seems like forever, the longest
three months in RC history, but finally we’ve been able
to crack on and resume RC activities. Check out page 3 for the most recent updates.
I think we’re all now fully into this social distancing, but I still wanted to say
thank you to everyone who has attended a club clinic so far and stuck to the guide-
lines. It’s definitely a different world, but with a bit of common sense and a bit of
planning, at least we can enjoy something near normal club events. We have more
clinics and training sessions in the pipeline, plus a few other things to get us all togeth-
er in one form or another.
As we move forward, it will be interesting to see how the competition world
adapts. I can’t say I’ll miss the scrum around the results board, where it’s the person
with the sharpest elbows who gets to know the winners first … although being some-
what vertically challenged, I am quite good at that … an elbow to the kidney area gets
most people moving ;) But I think we’ll all miss the massed members cheering on a
prize giving. But for the rest of it, I think us horsey peeps are quite resilient and we’ll
make the most of getting back out there, doing what we love best.
And in the meantime, we’re just all holding on until this virus is beat and we
can have the party of all parties to really welcome us all back to the club.

Until next time, Caroline

The end of the month
saw the culmination of the BRC
5* Virtual Dressage Competi-
tion. Videos were submitted a
while ago, but the top 15 en-
tries in each class were shown
on Facebook, with the final re-
sults only then being an-
nounced.
We fielded two teams
and two individuals, all who
held their own in some massive
classes
Class 2A - Team
BRC Walk & Trot - Ashleigh Earle / Gleanmhor Pavanne
BRC D2 - Isabella Thomas / Paddy
BRC D3 - Sara Stephenson / Lleidi Susan
Class 2B - Individuals
BRC Walk & Trot - Jenny Young / Blue
Class 3A - Team
BRC D10 - Karen Withers / CHS Arkan Blue
BRC HT 100Q - Luan Crawford / Merkur Fra Ellevad
BRC HT 100+Q - Kat Jones / Redback Cappucino
Class 3B - Individuals
BRC D10 - Faye Wienand / Elmo
Our 2a team were 20th overall, out of 81 teams, with our 3a team
coming 40th out of 69 teams - a fantastic result. There were also two
individual places for the
club, with both Luan on
Merkur and Isabella on
Paddy coming 6th in their
respective classes. A re-
sult we can all be proud of
on their behalf.

GETTING BACK IN THE ACTION
MERCIAN INTER-CLUB
LEAGUE
The Mercian League is a team event that
involves a number of local clubs hosting
fun events throughout the year. The 2020
league will start again in August,
with the season being extended
into the Winter months so we all
have something to take part in.
Teams don’t qualify for champion-
ships, but compete for the glory of
the club and for the all important
Trophies awarded at the end of
the year. Check out the back page
and the website for a list of dates
as they get confirmed.
2020 BRC WINTER CHAMPIONSHIPS Understandably, the Winter Novice and In-termediate BRC Championships that were due to take place in March and April, had to
be cancelled this year. BRC have an-nounced that due to the pressure of their members, they will be holding these Championships, alongside the 2021 Nov-
ice Winter Championships, at Arena UK on 26th
to 29th March. Anyone who qualified this year
will have their entries automatically transferred.
Great news for our Riders.
YIPPEE!! We finally got the go ahead from HQ to resume RC activities. Understanda-
bly, we still have to put some precautions in place and in some cases limit
how many people are on site at one time, but at least we’re back.
