Why does water matter to the tea industry?

Water greatly affects tea planting• Tea plants require a specific climate.• The monthly average temperature should be over 64

degrees and annually average rainfall should be over 1,000 mm.

Why does water matter to the tea industry?

Page 14: Mi from China

• Without sufficient irrigation and rainfall, tea plants cannot survive.

• Then what if water is contaminated?

Why does water matter to the tea industry?

The tea could become poisonous!

Page 15: Mi from China

•What causes water contamination in China nowadays?

Why does water matter to the tea industry?

Rapid industrial development

Large amount of untreated sewage is emitted to rivers

Page 16: Mi from China

Excessive tea planting can strike off ecology balance• Tea trade is very popular in China nowadays.• Many farmers, especially in southern China, abandon

traditional agriculture like crop planting to take up tea planting.

• Because tea planting is very lucrative, some tea farmers destroy natural forests to over-expand their tea fields.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN THEN?

Why does water matter to the tea industry?

Why does water matter to the tea industry?

Page 19: Mi from China

• Yixing Clay Tea Pot is made of a kind of special purple clay

• This clay exists in natural soil and is a major nutrition source for soil and water

• But red pottery tea pot collection is very popular in China

• Great profits from red pottery tea pot cause over-mining of red clay

• Thus leading to water nutrition level decline

Yixing Clay Tea Pot ThreatThis tea pot will cost you

5 million dollars!
