Bargarh :There is heavy irregularity in the flow of fund in case of all the schools of Bargarh and Subarnpur district.

Jharsuguda :24(60%) schools have received and fund is available on the day of visit. 16(40%) schools have not received and managing on credit basis.

-Menu of MDM is common in all schools of the 03 district.

- Menu is displayed in all the schools of the 03 districts.

- Eggs twice in a week is given in all schools of 03 districts.

-In all the schools visited children are happy with the quality and quantity of food.

8. Supplementary : -In 22 schools of Jharsuguda district health checkup is conducted and health card is maintained.

Health card is not maintained in any school of Bargarh and Subarnapur district except KGBVs.Micronutrients and deworming medicine is not given in any school of Bargareh district and Subarnapur district while in 09 schools of Jharsuguda district Micronutrients and deworming medicine is given to children.Periodical health check up, specially skin check up was found to be very essential in schools located in tribal pockets and schools with low cost hostels.

9.Status of Cook and Helpers :

-All the cooks and helper belong to SC/ST or OBC community.

The cooks and helpers are not getting remuneration regularly in the three districts.Remuneration is paid in cash in all the schools of the three district. Steps have been taken to pay remuneration through Bank Channel (Cooks and Helpers have opened their accounts in Banks in all the 03 districts).

10.Infrastructure: -Pucca Kitchen shed is available in 37(93%) schools of Bargarh district, 35 (88%) schools of Jharsuguda district 24(60%) schools of Subarnapur district.

-Potable water is available in all schools of three district, except 02 schools of Jharsuguda district. Udajahajpadia PS of Belpahad MPL Bandhbahal Pro.UPS of Lakhanpur Block

-All the schools have adequate utensils for cooking purposes.

11. Safety and Hygiene

-In all the schools the environment is alright from safety and hygiene point of view.-In all the schools children are encouraged to wash their hand before and after taking the MDM

In few schools (specially over crowed schools) MDM is not organised properly mainly during rainy season.

12. Community Participation and Awareness :

. Community participation and involvement of PTA/MTA members is very rare in all the three districts. Only in few schools members of VEC and MTA supervise the MDM programme.

13. Inspection and Supervision :

- Only Block level officials have inspected the MDM programme in few schools.

14. Report and Opinion of the Headmaster

- As reported by headmasters of the schools and opinion collected from members of SMCs, MDM has helped in increasing enrolment and attendance of children.

- More than 60% head teachers have opined that it has improved the nutritional status of children.

15. Issues Need to be Addressed :

Provision of LPS gas should be made for schools in urban areas and cooks/ helpers should be trained in using LPG gas.-Provision of Trays/ Plates should be made in all schools which will be uniform and decent and will save time.- Provision of MDM should be made during holidays and vacations in rural and tribal areas and in drought prone areas.-Provision of all weather dinning hall be made for over crowded schools.
