* Prerequisite: Completion of the NCEA Training Manual.Purchase the Training Manual ($114) and get started with Step 1. Go to www.NCEACertified.tv.A Prep Class is an interactive study group that allows the candidate to further their knowledge development. It is an excellent way to “brush up” on skills, develop a nurturing mentor relationship with the instructor and provide more interaction than if the candidate only used the self-study method.Utilizing the training manual format, the instructor reviews study objectives and knowledge reviews, provides interactive verbal quizzes and concludes the class with a sample written test. This sample test provides the candidate with an overview of how a question appears on the examination.

Bring your completed Candidate Application along with supporting documents to this session. If your Candidate Application is complete, your Authorization to Test (ATT) will be emailed to the address on your application within 7-10 days. The candidate must then call to schedule their exam within 15 days of receipt. See Candidate Information Bulletin for testing content and examination policies.

The National Coalition of Estheticians, Manufacturers/Distributors & Associations (NCEA) developed the NCEA Certified credential in 2007. NCEA Certified is the professional status awarded to a skin care professional that has met the competency standards as set forth by NCEA’s 1200 Hour Esthetician Job Task Analysis. It represents the highest skin care credential available in the United States, and adherence to the code of ethics of the profession. Those who choose to become NCEA Certified do so for a variety of reasons, including: • Commitment to their career and the industry • Desire to challenge their skill level and knowledge base • Commitment to personal growth and continuous learning • A move to another state where the hours of training are higher than what they received in school • State endorsement/reciprocity requirement to attain advanced licensure

The reasons also vary with a person’s age, longevity in the field and future plans. An added benefit is that NCEA Certified estheticians on average earn more than their non-certified counterparts. Those who are committed to personal growth are more likely to have the self-confidence to seek increasing levels of responsibility, and therefore higher incomes. Regardless of the reason–it’s a good investment in yourself! The NCEA Certified designation could mean the difference between getting or missing out on your next promotion or position. Certification better prepares the skin care professional for today’s job market, and helps you be better equipped to respond to the constantly changing demands and advances within our profession. Please visit www.NCEACertified.tv or contact the NCEA Executive Offices at 201-670-4100.

Sponsored by Warfield Weekly UpdateThe first day of school sets the tone of what’s to come–good or bad! Classroom management is not just about what the students are expecting to learn, but it is also about what you as the instructor expect from your students. We discuss several tips on classroom management that in turn can lead to increased student engagement.

At the conclusion of this class, the attendee will be able to: • Recognize student behavior • Create student/teacher expectations • Develop a learning environment • Manage your classroom with a plan

Sponsored by International Dermal InstituteAre you integrating Smart (computer) technologies into your classroom? Working and communicating with students through their personal computers and tablets? Has it become more challenging for you to motivate and stimulate student interest through traditional methods? It is important that you feel well equipped to fully address the advances and changes in technology that influence educational standards within the perimeters of your present curriculum and beyond.

At the conclusion of this class, the attendee will be able to: • Compare and contrast traditional classroom settings vs. what is the new reality • Identify challenges in understanding digital education • Develop a better understanding of how the “modern” student learns • Discover ways to integrate today’s digital tools into your curriculum

Susanne S. Warfield is President/CEO of Paramedical Consultants, Inc.–a consulting, publishing and association management firm. Warfield is a 33-year esthetician, is NCEA Certified, holds both CIDESCO and ITEC diplomas and worked for over 13 years in a dermatology practice in New York City. She has authored over 450 articles and 15 books for the consumer, medical and skin care sectors.

sharon Bell is an Advanced Instructor with the International Dermal Institute. After almost 20 years as a social worker and trainer in the social work arena, Sharon was ready to make a career change and entered the world of skin care. Having found a new passion, Sharon embraced the world of esthetics and opened her own practice. After a time, she missed the teaching aspect from her prior profession. In 2010 she joined The International Dermal Institute as an educator, which has allowed her to combine both her passion for skin care and teaching. Sharon teaches full time at the Fort Lauderdale, FL location.
