Towards a tender specification

Where are we?

The following is a check list of what we have accomplished to date:-

Safety review of the Hydrogen safety; ✔

R & D work on the Window fixing – welded or bolted✔

Safety review of the hydrogen delivery system ✔

Selection of Cryocoolers;✔

Cryogen condense pot, cold intercept connections etc✔

Design & validation of the Coil Former & Cold Mass support✔

Internal pipework connection design & arrangement✔

Drawing & design information on the AFC

The repository for all the AFC drawings is at RAL;

Chris Nelson is the keeper of this information;

Oxford (Stephanie Yang) will ensure that Chris gets the latest version of all the cooling AFC drawings;

However, for read only information on the AFC 3-D model, this could be downloaded from our web page and Stephanie will demonstrate how easy this could be done.

Towards a tender specification

The following is a check list of actions that have not been accomplished:-

Formal response to the H2 R&D review;

Final design details and specifications on:-HTS Leads; Power supply; vacuum pumping; rail & docking system; N2 & helium supply; quench protection etc;

QA procedure for window measurement;

Burst pressure test (3 to 4 sets) for the current window geometry;

Finalising a bidders list, vendor qualification inspection and a set of well defined Tender specification;

Summary

A fair amount of work still to be done before we are ready for tender;

Our priority is on making sure that the interface parameters are well defined and that the tolerances are achievable;

We are still getting feed back from the Spectrometer solenoid manufacture on how we should improve our tender specifications to avoid expensive changes after contract signing;

The AFC Work Group will be re-activated so that we can received more feed back and suggestions from parties outside RAL and Oxford before we conclude the tender specification;
