all good educational ideas are modern.• Educators, as distinct from just teachers or

trainers or coaches, have a professional responsibility to understand the history and philosophy of the discipline (subject) they teach.

• Concern with history and philosophy of the discipline they teach promotes life-long learning by teachers.

Scheffler’s Claims for History and Philosophy of Disciplines in Education
