Ms. Michelle MacDonald MacDonald for Justice – Minnesota Supreme Court 1069 South Robert St. Suite U West St. Paul, MN August 23, 2014 Mr. Keith Downey Chair of the Republican Party of Minnesota 2200 East Franklin Avenue, Suite 201 Minneapolis, MN Dear Mr. Downey: As you know, I’ve spent 27 years as an attorney in private practice with MacDonald Law Firm, LLC, and founded Family Innocence, a nonprofit dedicated to keeping families out of court. As an attorney, I have the unique distinction to practice before the United States Supreme Court of America, one of my proudest accomplishments. While receiving that distinction was one of my proudest moments, it pales in comparison to my experience at the Minnesota Republican Party Convention, where I was greeted by hundreds of people and delegates with a like-‐minded passion for Justice in their families, homes, and communities. I have never felt more at home, this after being recruited by your Judicial Election Committee, headed by attorney Doug Seaton. It was there, I had another extensive videotaped interview, and thereafter was unanimously recommended for endorsement by the People on the committee who were not attorneys. Attorney Seaton, the chairman, declined, and I learned he phoned two other attorneys, not even present at the convention, who declined. The Judicial Elections Committee Report by Doug Seaton, Judicial Elections Committee Chair, was on the Agenda that I received. I appeared as scheduled at the stage, with Greg Wersal, to introduce me, and was immediately blocked, until many delegates came to the podium to advocate for keeping with the schedule. Doug Seaton took the stage and announced that I was recommended for endorsement, Greg Wersal introduced me, and I made a speech “God Bless America Again” interrupted several times by applause. After my speech, a YES was a standing ovation from the delegates. I was called back to the stage to the stage to accept my endorsement, to more cheers. I understand you have given me a deadline, Mr. Dowey, of noon today to write you a letter repudiating my endorsement, and once that is done, the executive committee will meet with me.

I am running for the highest state judicial office, the Minnesota Supreme Court, a nonpartisan position. I understood that I could be endorsed by many organizations. I am writing to inform you that I will not repudiate my endorsement by the Republican Party of Minnesota to run for Minnesota Supreme Court, and that the Delegates matter. Thank you. Sincerely, Michelle MacDonald
