The construction kit includes:

Microplate assembly platforms (MTF0204)

are made of PC and allow to mount up

to four microfluidic construction kit slides.

The standard microplate platform is colored

black, but of course we realize customized

platforms (e.g. in terms of corporate design).

SMS0104

snake mixer slide

The SMS0104 features a total of four passive

flow-through mixers, which intermix smallest

liquid volumes within milliseconds. The mixers

are integrated on a microscope slide and cover

a wide range of potentially interesting flow rates

or viscosities.

The slide is made of cyclo-olefin

copolymer (COC), which combines good optical

properties with biocompatibility and good

chemical resistance to most acids and bases.

A set of connectors is available which allows to

connect standard tubes or typical laboratory tools

such as pipettes or syringes to the fluid ports of

the SMS0104.

The SCS0105 fluid splitter slide features one 1-to-

8 and two 1-to-4 microfluidic manifolds. It allows

to divide a sample into up to eight equal streams

for parallel processing.

The slide is made of cyclo-olefin copolymer

(COC), which combines good optical properties

with biocompatibility and good chemical

resistance to most acids and bases.

A set of connectors is available which allows to

connect standard tubes or typical laboratory

tools such as pipettes or syringes to the fluid

ports of the SCS0105.

The cuvette slide provides a visualization

platform for biological samples that is consistent

with the slides existing in the thinXXS

Construction Kit. The slide consists of 5 viewing

chambers which are connected to separate

fluidic ports via inlet and outlet channels.

Standard glass cover slides (rectangular – 24x60

mm or circular – 10mm dia.) may be used to seal

the chambers and would allow the user to

perform tests with custom treated glass slides or

microarrays. The slide is equipped with an

adhesive to attach the glass cover slips (cover

slips are not included).

The viewing chamber is cylindrical with a

diameter of approximately 3mm and a height of

1,3mm. The corresponding sample volume in the

chamber is 10µl. A rectangular pre-chamber may

be utilized to trap small air bubbles.

The filter slide provides platform for sample

preconditioning. The slide consists of 5 filter

chambers which are equipped filter membranes.

No adhesives are used to mount the membranes.

Each chamber features two inlets, allowing for

cross-flow filtration.

The chip features a simple cross architecture which might be used e.g. for capillary electrophoresis. Wider channels connect the cross geometry with the inlet/outlet ports.

The slide is made from cyclo-olefin copolymer COC, which combines excellent optical properties with biocompatibility and good chemical resistance to most acids and bases.

Design your own microfluidic chip

Beside the standard slides for pumping, mixing or splitting the fluid thinXXS offers a blank kit slide where you can design your own fluidics. The geometry of your fluidic layout can be incorporated by milling or laser ablation.

Regarding sealing of the milled parts can we offer our support.

The advantage is that very quickly different fluidic layouts can be tested and optimized before a mould insert is produced.

Outer dimensions

The footprint of the molded parts is based on the microfluidic construction kit. Standard slides have a footprint of 25.5mm x 75.5 mm, which is equivalent to the size of a standard microscopy slide. 28 fluidic access ports are arranged in two lines at the long sides of the slide. Custom channels may be designed in the back of the slide.

The necessary access ports can be drilled into the center of the fluidic ports.The fluidic ports have a pitch of 4.5mm. This is in accordance with the well spacing of a 384 well microplate.

An area of about 62 mm x 15 mm on the opposite side of the fluidic ports is available for individually designed microfluidic structures.

Micro connectors and plugs are made of either

COC or PP; they allow to link the fluid ports on

top of the slides with those of adjacent slides

(slide connectors, SLC0405), with typical

laboratory equipment such as syringes (micro

luer connector, MLC0105) and pipettes (micro

pipette connector, MPC0105), or with standard

tubes (micro fluid connector, MFC0204). Micro

plugs (MPG0105), in turn, allow to block selected

fluid ports.
