HOW DO I SET UP MY EMAIL ACCOUNT ON MY

PHONE/HANDHELD DEVICE (POP or IMAP SET-

NOTE: When adding a new email account:

For iPhone users: select Other

For Android users: select Email

1. Under Incoming Mail Server Host Name, enter

outlook.office365.com

Encryption method: SSL

Port: 995 (for most phones, accept the default)

2. Enter your student email username and your

password.

3. Under Outgoing Mail Server Host Name, enter

pod5outlook.office365.com

Encryption method: SSL

CITYTECH GENERAL POLICY

Students are responsible for all information sent to

them via the City Tech email account. The college

has the right to expect that such communications

will be received, read, and acted upon in a timely

fashion. This email account will be specific to each

student.

Your email username will also allow you to access

the college’s wireless network.

Please make sure to check your City Tech email

account regularly.

BEFORE YOU LOG IN

Note to new students

You would not be able to log into your email if

one is not generated for you. Please continue to

check the Student Center of your CUNYfirst ac-

count to see if a City Tech Email has been as-

signed. (Please contact the Student Helpdesk if

you need assistance navigating to the Student

Center.)

HOW DO I LOG IN?

In order to access your City Tech email account, go

to: http://outlook.office365.com

Username:

[email protected]

Password: (for new students) Use your date of birth in a six digit format MMDDYY and the last four of your EMPL ID.

For example: If your date of birth is 01/06/86 and the last four digits of your EMPL ID are 1234, then your password is —> 0106861234 (no spac-es OR dashes)

Password: (for all other students)

Use the password you created.

E-MAIL SECURITY VERIFICATION

*Completing the steps below will enable you to reset your own password if forgotten.

1. First, login into your City Tech email.

2. Click on a new tab in your browser and type myapps.microsoft.com in the address line.

3. Click on Verify Now.

4. Setup authentication for phone and email and verify them.

5. Setup security questions and answers.

6. Click Finish.

WHAT IF I FORGOT MY CITY TECH EMAIL PASSWORD?

*ONLY for students who completed the verification process above.

1. On the login page, click on “Can’t access your account”.

2. Enter your email username and click Next.

3. Select the reset method via email, phone or security questions.

4. Enter the security code sent.

5. Create a new password.

6. Click Finish.

For students who forgot their password and did not perform

the verification process:

You can reset your password by contacting the Student

Computing Helpdesk for assistance. Make sure you complete

the verification process once you gain access to your account.

HOW DO I CHANGE MY EMAIL PASSWORD?

1. Click on the Settings icon.

2. Under My app Settings, click on Office 365.

3. To the left of the screen, click on Security & Privacy.

4. Click on Password to change your password.

5. Type your old password.

6. Type a new password.

7. Type the new password again to confirm it.

8. Click Submit.

HOW DO I DELETE A MESSAGE?

To delete a message, select the message, and then do one of

the following:

1. Click on the trash can.

2. Right-Click the message and then click Delete on the menu.

3. To delete numerous emails you can click the checkbox next to the word Inbox above your emails and it will de-lete only what is visible on the screen at the time.

HOW DO I RECOVER DELETED ITEMS?

1. Under Folders, click on Deleted Items (Click More if you do not see this).

2. Select the item you want to recover.

3. Right-click on the selected item and choose Move and then select Move to a different folder.

4. Select the folder you want to which you want move the item.

5. Click the Move button.
