E-Learning for Tuesday, May 19:

Entrepreneurs Solve Problems After watching the JA Our Region Lesson 4 volunteer video session, complete the following activity.

Materials • Writing paper • Pencil or pen

Activity • Identify some problems in your daily life. Perhaps your shoes come untied too often, your toothpaste won’t

come out of the tube correctly, or you can never find a pen that works when you need one.

• Write about your problem in a story that tells about your day: “A Day in the Life of _______.” It can be a comic, a narrative, or a bullet point list. Here is an example to get you thinking:

o 8:00 a.m. Wake up. Get dressed. Eat breakfast. o 8:40 a.m. Brush teeth. Toothpaste goes everywhere. o 8:45 a.m. Clean up toothpaste mess. o 8:55 a.m. Change shirt. Miss bus. o 9:00 a.m. Ride bike to school in rain. Loose shoelace gets caught in chain. Arrive soaking

wet. o 9:15 a.m. Get sent to principal’s office to change clothes. o 9:30 a.m. Dad arrives with dry clothes. o 9:45 a.m. Finally head back to class. Trip on loose

shoelace.

• Now, think like an entrepreneur and come up with some innovative solutions and products for the problems you wrote about.

• Rewrite your “Day in the Life” scenario to show how the products helped you. o 8:00 a.m. Wake up. Get dressed. Eat breakfast. o 8:40 a.m. Brush teeth. They are sparkly clean and there is no mess with Tube Right

toothpaste. o 8:45 a.m. Head to bus. The walk is easy with Ever Tie shoelaces. o 9:00 a.m. Arrive at

school on time. o 9:30 a.m. Earn an “A” on the math test. Flash teacher that sparkly smile. Get an A+.

• Share your story with friends or family members and challenge them to solve some of their problems by thinking like an entrepreneur, too.
