Lab ImprovementAs One, Once

Again

From what seemedlike ages, has finallycome to an end. Finally back, and better than ever, Byron Waksman has returned to the CND after undergoing a hip replacement surgery. It has almost been half a year since he underwent the surgery, however I believe that I know what actually took place. Dr. Waksman, master adventure rfirstconquere dthe Galapago sy, et he thirstedfor more. A greater treasurethat nobodyin the world has seen before. The fountain of youth. So during the past six months, he traveled to the fountain and allowed the healing powers of the water give him youth and strength. I could have sworn that when he stepped foot in theelevato rlast week, that there was an aura around him. I glanced at him at least twenty times as well because I could have sworn that he lookedlike he was twentyyears old. Ok, maybe twenty is pushin git, but no more than twent yone. But Byronis back and a missin gpieceof the CND has finally been filled once again. From his insightful words of wisdom that rival even those of the wise Sheng to his smooth salsa dance moves, to his gentle smile that lets you know that yeah it’stough, but its going to be alright, Byron, welcomeback. It’s good to have you home.

Cooking With Dr. Lindsay

This week’s recipe is finally something that I think that I can manage to make. Without the need for fancy cookin gutensil sor even an oven,

this week’s recipe seems simple, but I will personally try it out to let you know how my cooking skills hold up to this recipe. Though I’m not sure what a rocket salad, and I can onlyguess that it is a mixtureof “out of this world” ingredients .Yes, I too realiz ewhen I’ve been corny. So try out this recip eand let me know how it turns out for all of you who dare to compete on the level of Iron Chef Dr. Lindsay. Salad DressingThis is a simple dressing to drizzle over a greenleaf salad such as rocket/arugula topped with a few parmesan shavings.1 clove of garlicSea salt, same volume as the garlic cloveWhite wine vinegar Balsamic vinegar Good olive oilMince the garlic and olive oil together and putinto a glass jar with a lid. Add white wine vinegar, balsamic vinegar and olive oil in a ratio of 1:1:5. Put on the lid tightly and shake to emulsify. Taste and adjust the balance of sharp to sweet to your liking with the vinegars.Add to the salad and toss before serving.

Drinkin’ With Dave

Here is one of our new additions to the Kuchroo Times, featuring our very own Dr. Dave Anderson. I have had the rare opportunity to witnes sfirsthan dthe magic that goes on in the kitchen as he prepared for me one of the best mojitos I have ever had in my life. Not too sweet, not too strong,a drink of the Gods. His technique…flawless, his showmanship…superb, the overall product…priceless.Though if I had to write my own version of his drink mixes, I would have to say that his drinks have a sprinkle of out of this world and a splash of kick ass! This is just a teaser, and his first recipe in its

entiret ywill be feature din next week’ sissue. I have a vague idea of the ratios in which the drink was made, however in all fairness to his outstanding drink, I do not want to commit any wrongdoing against his drink by publishing an incorrect mix. Look out for his drinks because once you’ve had one, you’ll most definitely be thirsting for more!

Take a Fellow Out To Lunch

As a family, we must take care of each other. Of course, the primary focus of our aid should be scienc erelated ,howeve rI bel iev efirml ythat in order to strengthen our bonds, we must also strengthen our bellies. As a program that is still inits testin gphase, let’s try and see whethe ror not we can get this programoff the ground. Kind of like the rocket salad. “Corn number 2”. I’m sure that Thomas Korn would be proud of me. For every lab member that treats out a fellow lab member out to lunch, whether it be a sandwichthat you make from home or a high end meal from the golden arches (Mc Donalds for those who didn’t get that), I will personally feature your Kuchrooitism in our weekly newletter. When the white board isn’t in use with importantnotices,if you could write down who you are and who you treated out to lunch so that I can keep track of your good deedsand placea gold star next to your name, I’d reallyappreciat eit. As the founde rof this program, I would like to personallyinvite the first person that would like a free meal as well as a chance to get to know me better. Too much good stuff, too much good stuff. First personto write their name on the board will be my firstvict im ,I mean…gues t .Thank sand have a nice day!
