INTRODUCTIONProject Natick is Microsoft’s research project to determine the feasibility & manufacture & operate an underwater data canter. The Project started by “Ben Cutler’’ & “Jeff Kramer’’.

4

What is Project Natick ??

A deep water data center.

Project started in 2013.

First prototype deployed in august 2015 &

retrieve after 105 days.

First prototype named “Leona Philpot’’.

5

Name is taken from a character in

Microsoft’s halo video game.

Operated in Pacific ocean of the United

States.

Approximately one kilometre in deep

water.

6

What is a data center ??A data center is a large group of networked computer & servers used by organizations to store & retrieve data remotely & it provide the facility used to house computer systems and associated components, such as telecommunications , storage systems such & Information systems.

For a Company

Bad Data Center = Bad Infrastructure

7

These services include

Email

Data storage and management

Web hosting

Application hosting

8

Related components

Servers

Routers

Storage (HDD , SSD)

UPS (Uninterruptable power supplies)

Power Distribution Unit

Huge Cooling Units

9

Server

Server is a computer program or a Hardware that provide functionality for programs or devices (Called “Clients’’)

10

Router

Router performs the “traffic

directing’’ function on internet.

Router is a networking device

that forwards data packet

between computer networks.

11

Storage (HDD , SSD)

Storage is the place

where the data stores &

we can retrieve the data.

HDD- Hard Disk Drive

SSD- Solid State Drive

12

UPS & PDU

A device or Combination of devices with multiple output ports designed to distribute power

13

Cooling Unit

Cooling unit is use to maintain the temperature of hardware.

14

Components used in Project Natick

15

Components

A steel tube

Fibre optic cables

Servers & Routers

Storage

16

Steel tube

Steel tube is the outer jacket for the datacenter

17

Fibre optic cables

Optic fiber is a coble is use to transfer data with high speed, Bandwidth of Worlds fastest optic fiber is 255 tbps.

18

Servers & Routers

19

Components

Liquid nitrogen

Turbines or a tidal energy system

20

Liquid nitrogen

Liquid nitrogen to efficiently remove heat from computing chips

21

Turbines or tidal energy systemTurbines or a tidal energy system to generate electricity.

22

Advantages of Project Natick

Focused on a cloud future that can help

better serve customers in There areas.

data resources located close to users.

It helps make web service work faster.

Increase the data transition speed.

23

No need of any hug cooling system.

More accuracy & Less network delay.

Renewable power sources.

Controlled environment.

Cost saving.

29

CONCLUSION

Underwater data center is very innovative Technology & more efficient in the comparison of land database it reduce the use of cooling units & improve the service & efficiency of cloud computing & boosted up the web services.Due to self generating electricity techniques it reduce the use of electricity,Other Company like Google is also planning to deploy deep-water data center.
