OVERVIEW

Quarter on Quarter Comparison

The sector had posi�ve growth in all key indicators compared to 3rd quarter of 2015; 0.08% in number of borrowers, 5.5% in GLP, 10.6% in number of ac�ve savers and 21.2% in amount of savings. The Por�olio At Risk (PAR)> 30 days has increased from 2.3% to 5.1%. Number of opera�onally sustainable MFIs remained the

same while the OSS of the rest of MFIs has improved.

Case load; number of ac�ve borrowers per loan officer decreased by 1% and GLP per loan officer has improved by 4.3%.

Average loan size increased by 5.4% compared to the 3rd quarter of 2015.

The report indicates nega�ve growth in a couple of key indicators.

The Number of Ac�ve Borrowers and Gross Loan Por�olio

decreased by 2.98% and 1.43% respec�vely. The Number of

Ac�ve Saver and Amount of Savings increased by 4.25% and

0.08% respec�vely. PAR has increased from 2.9% to 5.1% during

the quarter, and this is mainly due to the security issues in

Helmand and Kunduz provinces.

FINCA, Mutahid, FMFB and OXUS remained opera�onally self-

sufficient while IIFC’s OSS increased from 82% to 99%.

A total of 33,672 loans were disbursed showing a decrease of 15%

compared to the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Helmand, Kunduz and Laghman are the provinces with highest

PAR of 34%, 14% and 10% respec�vely. This is mainly due to

security issues in these provinces.

OXUS, Mutahid, and FMFB are the ins�tu�ons with the highest

growth rate of 3.9%, 3.7% and 2% respec�vely in terms of GLP,

and Mutahid with 3% in terms of number of borrowers.
