office.

Students may not have more than 9

absences in a class per semester to

obtain credit.

School Business, DAEP, ISS, and College

Visits do not count in the 9.

Parent excused absences DO count in

the 9.

You must send a note if you want the

absence to be parent excused.

You may send the note before or after

the absence.

Q: So if ALL absences except

school business count then why

send a note?

A: The district will send an

Softball Tournament-LiveFeed

The softball team will start the season on Tuesday with a game against Greenwood at the Greenwood Softball Field. Next week the softball

team will be traveling to the Bryan/College Station Tournament. We are excited to announce that TexanLive.com will be streaming the

Girls’ Softball BCS Tournament again this year. Because of the amount of fields, we cannot stream every game. We will update the website

on which parks/schools we will be covering each day. The streaming service is for any family and friends that can’t make it to the

tournament. It will have a LIVE video feed with a LIVE scoreboard as well. https://www.texanlive.com/

Important Deadlines and Reminders

AP Sign Up

Thank you to those students who have already signed up for their AP tests. Just a few reminders. IT’S FREE. MHS students do not pay for each AP test and that is like being handed a $91 check for every test you take. You wouldn’t turn away free money. Don’t turn away this opportunity that research clearly shows will better prepare you for college. You can decide whether or not colleges see your scores. It is not automatic. Just remember, any student who signs up for a test and does not take it, will be required to reimburse MISD for the entire cost of the test ($91.00) plus a restocking fee ($15). Students should not sign up for any test they do not intend to take.

Schedules for the ’18-’19 School Year

Counselors will be at Midland Freshmen this week registering students for next year. Juniors should have already turned in their course selections for next year. Just remember, you only have until May 1st to make any changes. We will post the course registration card online so that parents can see the choices students have and assist them with making good decisions.

Dual Credit Juniors

1) For the students who are already in dual credit and plan on continuing with dual classes, registration for the 2018 fall classes will be on April 25 in the library. Teachers generally allow the students to come in to register during their dual classes.

2) TSI test- for subject areas the students have not yet tested in; or tested and did not meet the required score. Student will have to take the Math TSI and meet the required score in order to enroll in pre-calculus.
