Edwin G. Foulke, Jr is a partner with Fisher & Phillips LLP, a leading national labor and employment law firm and serves as co-chair of the firm’s Workplace Safety and Catastrophe Management Practice Group in its Atlanta, Georgia office. Prior to joining Fisher & Phillips, Ed was the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health. Named by President George W. Bush to head OSHA, he served from April, 2006 to November 2008. During his tenure at OSHA, workplace injuries, illnesses and fatalities rates dropped to their lowest level in recorded history. He served on the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission from 1990 to 1995, chairing the
Commission from March 1990 to February 1994, and is the only person in the country to have held both these positions.
Ed’s practice includes workplace safety compliance and strategic safety planning, whistleblower compliance and litigation involving the 22 whistleblower statutes handled by OSHA, defense of employers in responding to workplace health and safety cases including OSHA citations and providing advice and assistance to employers in responding to workplace fatalities and catastrophic accidents and in legislative and regulatory matters. He has represented employers in thousands of OSHA inspections and OSHA citation contests.
Ed has worked in the labor and employment area, specializing in occupational safety and health issues, for more than 30 years. In 2010, 2011 and again in 2012-13 he was named as one of the “50 Most Influential EHS Leaders” by EHS Today magazine, as well as being named one of the “50 Most Influential EHS Leaders” in the United States by Occupational Hazards magazine in 2008. He is recognized as one of the nation’s leading authorities on occupational safety and health issues and one of the top speakers and writers in this area.

Joey Araiza is the Vice President of Clinical Services at LifeFlight Eagle. She has been with the programs since 2007. Joey began her career as a flight nurse in Clinton, Missouri.
JOE BRANDEL Process Marketing Group
Joe Brandel, Territory Manager for Northwest Missouri and all of Kansas, has been with PMG for over 1-1/2 years. Joe may be new to PMG but has many years’ experience in the field. Joe has been a Manufacturer's Representative for over 13 years and in the construction and safety industries for over 19 years. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1992.
Joe has been married for 18 years. He and his wife, Jonna, have 3 children. Joe enjoys coaching his children's sports teams, traveling with family, and attending as many Mizzou sporting events as possible. Joe is based in Overland Park, KS.
DR. CHARLIE CARTWRIGHT Lockton Companies, LLC
Dr. Cartwright has thirty years of business and management experience, primarily spent in the transportation, staffing, and healthcare fields. His responsibilities included budgeting, personnel, and creating and maintaining safe and productive work environments. Included in the latter were designing programs and implementing effective ways of reducing workplace injuries and the resultant lost time and expenses associated with them.
Charlie obtained his Bachelor of Science and Chiropractic Degrees in 2001, successfully passing the National Board Exams, making him a Board Certified Chiropractic Physician. Because Charlie has this added background in the medical field, including the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of workplace injuries; it gives an unusual depth to his already expansive management experience. This enables him to truly understand all aspects of the workplace environment, analyze the systems in place, and be able to recommend, help implement, and follow up with each employer for the quickest and most cost effective solutions.
Dr. Cartwright has developed a series of training modules centered around improving culture and morale in the workplace. These modules educate senior and middle management about the importance of culture and morale, as well as its numerous business impacts.

Joe Coons is the Director of Safety at LifeFlight Eagle. He has been at Lifeflight Eagle since 2005. Joe began his career as a flight paramedic in Clinton, Missouri.
WILLIAM DENNING Sanders Warren & Russell LLP
William Denning concentrates his practice primarily in the area of litigation defending clients in significant injury, death and damages claims in the areas of construction, product liability, trucking/transportation liability, premises liability and medical/professional liability.
He has tried jury and bench trials in both federal and state court obtaining defense verdicts in complex products liability actions as well as admitted liability motor vehicle accidents. William has represented numerous contractors in actions involving damage to underground utilities and in actions involving personal injury on job sites.

Brian has been in the electrical field for over 20 years and since 2000 has been helping National Employers with risk and liability needs on Electrical Safety topics such as NFPA 70E.
DETECTIVE CHRISTOPHER FARKES, BA Johnson County Sheriff’s Office
Chris began his career as a deputy with the Johnson County, Kansas Sheriff’s Office in 1995. He moved to the Directed Patrol Unit (DPU) in 2006, where he handled narcotics investigations, including case work, hotel/motel interdiction, highway interdiction, and parcel interdiction.
In 2009, he was assigned to the DEA Kansas City District Office in the Clan Lab Group and later to the Tactical Diversion Squad. He began investigating smokable synthetic cannabinoid (SSC) products with an investigation into “K2.” At the same time, he began presenting to local officers, probation officers, educators and other individuals about SSC’s. Additionally he assisted with working on legislation in Kansas.
Chris has testified before both the Kansas House and Kansas Senate in January 2010 and provided written testimony before the Kansas Senate in March 2014.
Mr. Farkes is actively involved in numerous investigations pertaining to the illicit manufacture and distribution of synthetic drugs, is recognized as an expert in the area of synthetic drug investigations and also provides informational presentations regarding the synthetic drug industry to local, regional and national audiences.
CARIDAD FLOWERS, CRIS Lockton Companies, LLC
Caridad has 25 years of claims experience in the insurance industry with extensive knowledge of workers’ compensation claims process. She is currently a Vice President and Senior Claims Consultant with Lockton Companies, LLC in Kansas City, MO. Prior to joining Lockton, Caridad has worked for several different insurance carriers in managerial positions. In her current role, Caridad will often perform a comprehensive review of her client’s overall claims management program and provide recommendations to enhance the current program. This assists her clients in mitigating their total cost of risk through an aggressive approach of the claims management process. She has gained national expertise through her previous work experience and direct relationships with various Lockton clients and serves as a valuable technical workers compensation resource.
AJ GAJDOSIK, CSP, ARM-P Consultant
Born and raised in St. Louis, MO, AJ began his career in safety working for a large oil and gas company in Houston, Texas as a Safety, Health and Environmental Representative. Following his graduation from Central Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Safety Management, AJ worked as a Loss Control Representative for an agribusiness insurance company. From there he worked for a monoline workers’ compensation carrier serving as the technical safety specialist developing safety resources and delivering safety training. AJ has also worked for large regional and national multi-line insurance carriers where he provided high level training and safety services to key accounts and other safety personnel. Eddie Greer is the Director of Business Development for the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. In his role with BCSP, he is responsible for developing and implementing strategies for promotion of current and future certifications. He is also responsible for developing business opportunities in accordance with the business plan with a focus on professional organizations, major employers, industry associations and government agencies. Eddie has developed and delivered numerous keynotes, presentations and seminars on leadership, team building, crisis management, front line supervisor training and behavior based performance across the United States, Canada, Middle East, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
Mr. Greer retired after thirty-one years of service with Brown & Root/KBR serving in leadership positions throughout the company in areas of SH&E. Eddie was President/CEO of Eddie Greer & Associates, L.P., a safety and health consulting company located in Horseshoe Bay, Texas from 2004-2009.
Eddie is past society president of the American Society of Safety Engineers where he is a professional member and received the society’s highest honor of Fellow in 2007. He was the recipient of the ASSE President’s Award for 2010 for his work as a founding member of the International Network of Safety & Health Practitioner Organizations. He is the Immediate Past-Chair of the ASSE Foundation and is a trustee for the Texas Safety Foundation. He is a past president and a founding member of the International Network of Safety & Health Practitioner Organizations (INSHPO). He served on the Board of Certified Safety Professionals from 2004-2009. Eddie holds a BBA from LeTourneau University and an Associate in Science Degree from Paris Junior College. Eddie is a Certified Safety Professional by exam. Eddie was honored in 1987 as the ASSE Gulf Coast Chapter Safety Professional of the Year.

He has worked with over 100 industries and is currently the facilitator for developing ergonomics programs with ConAgra Foods, Cargill Turkey Products, Hubbell Power Systems and Watlow Electric Manufacturing. Mr. Krewson has developed industrial rehabilitation programs for several private practice physical rehabilitation clinics, is the past president for the Mid-Missouri section of the American Society of Safety Engineers, and is the president of Peak Ergonomics.

Karen Kono is a registered nurse, board certified in occupational health & safety. She has spent the last 20 years developing a vast array of experience in the Kansas City occupational health & safety industry.
Karen is currently the Associate Health & Safety Specialist for Cerner Corporation, based at their world headquarters in North Kansas City. Prior to Cerner, Karen managed the Medical Department at Kansas City Power & Light for 9 years. She also held occupational health & safety positions at John Knox Village and Guys Snack Foods. She has had a very diverse career spanning occupational health and safety in manufacturing, health care facilities and the utility industry. She is a well-known presenter on a number of topics including infection control, stretching in the workplace, body mechanics and workers’ compensation management.
Karen is on the Executive Board of Directors for the Safety & Health Council of western MO & KS. She is also a member of the Greater Kansas City Association of Occupational Health Nurses, the Missouri Association of Occupational Health Nurses, the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses, and, received her national board certification through the American Board of Occupational Health Nurses.

Eric Lanham has been representing employers and insurance carriers in defending workers’ compensation claims since 1993. His experience encompasses all areas of workers’ compensation practice, and he works with clients to identify and implement ways to reduce the number and severity of workers’ compensation claims. His expertise is in handling complex workers’ compensation claims, defining the limits of workers’ compensation and employer’s liability policies, and protecting the subrogation
interests of employers and insurers against claimant’s counsel who try to reduce those liens.
Mr. Lanham is a shareholder with the firm. He is the immediate past president of the firm and has served as its managing partner. Mr. Lanham is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Kansas City, Kansas Area Chamber of Commerce, the Foundation for Inclusive Religious Education, and Camp Encourage, a summer camp for children with autism. He is the Committee Chair for his son’s Boy Scout troop and is a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is a past president of the Northwest Missouri Autism Project and a former member of the St. Therese Education Committee.

DEREK LEFFERT Missouri One Call System
Derek Leffert has extensive experience in the utility industry, serving in governmental and public relations capacities for nearly 15 years. As the chief spokesperson for the Missouri One Call System, Derek travels the state of Missouri providing educational awareness on damage prevention matters specific to the construction and utility fields.
To date, Derek has presented damage prevention concepts and discussed the legal and financial impact of unnecessary damages that have resulted in countless injuries and fatalities nationwide. As a frequent guest speaker at a variety of seminars and trade association annual meetings, Derek has trained thousands of Missourians.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with dual majors in Management & Human Resource Management and a minor in Political Science. Prior to joining Missouri One Call, he served as a lobbyist for the rural electric cooperatives. Derek resides in Jefferson City with his wife, 8-year old daughter, and 6-year old son.

Bill also served as an Industrial Hygienist for the U.S. Air Force for 5 years prior to joining OSHA.

Dr. Nill is the Chief Medical Officer who has primary responsibility for Cerner's global population of associates and their families. He provides clinical strategy for the management of the population as a whole and participates in program design and relationships to the health benefits of Cerner. He also has primary organizational
oversight of any clinical services that Cerner provides to its associates which includes their onsite clinics, pharmacies, health coaching, dieticians, and athletic trainers.
Dr. Nill received his medical degree from the University of Missouri - Kansas City and completed his residency in Family Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He continues to be board certified in Family Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Thomas Ray is the Safety Administrator at City Utilities of Springfield Mo. Tom brings to City Utilities a wealth of experience in construction, safety and incident investigation. Tom holds a degree in Environmental Health and Chemistry and is a Certified Utility Safety Professional. Brad Russell has been involved in over 1000 civil lawsuits and has tried over 90 civil jury trials to verdict in federal and state courts throughout Kansas and Missouri. He has been selected as a Super Lawyer for Kansas and Missouri for General Personal Injury Defense and Professional Liability Defense from 2005 to the present. Since 2007, Brad has tried over 20 civil jury trials, and all resulted in defense verdicts or verdicts below the defendant’s pre-trial offer. Mr. Russell has defended clients involved in litigation with Jim Kelly of the Buffalo Bills, Brian Bosworth of the Seattle Seahawks, and defended the wrongful death case of professional wrestler Owen Hart who fell to his death in Kemper Arena in Kansas City. Mr. Schrader is the Safety Director for McCownGordon Construction. He has spent the last 24 years working either for, or with commercial contractors. Throughout the years, Brian has been employed as field construction employee, project safety specialist, loss control manager, risk control consultant and corporate safety director for large insurance carriers and general contractors.
Brian holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Industrial Safety Management from the University of Central Missouri. He is an authorized instructor for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Mr. Schrader is an instructor for the 40 hour NCCCO Prep Course and has passed the written NCCCO exams. Brian is also a frequent guest lecturer at Pittsburg State University and serves on the Environmental, Safety and Health Advisory Board at Pittsburg State University.
