Note from NAHAM Educational Chair, Wendy RoachWe had a very successful education committee meeting at the national conference with more than 10 attendees who were all passionate about education. It was a great time to sit a dialogue about the educational opportunities that we would like to offer for our NAHAM members and non-members.

If you would like to be a member of the education committee or another committee, the NAHAM Call for Committee Volunteers is now open.

Are you hosting an educational conference or training that you would like NAHAM credits for? Don't forget to submit your request form to the education committee. The process is so easy.

NAHAM’s committees are hard at work to carry out their respective missions to advance the association. See below to learn more about each committee’s activities so far this year:

Certification CommissionThe Certification Commission worked hard in 2017 to revamp and update the CHAA exam, ensuring thatthe quality and integrity of the certification program is continuously upheld by providing updated andrelevant content At the 44th Annual Conference in Denver the Certification Commission identified 8. ,Subject Matter Experts to write and review new items for the CHAM Exam, in an effort to continuously refresh NAHAM’s examination content. This year, they’ve also been providing guidance to the NAHAM staff team as they work to develop a brand new certification database, set to launch in late 2018.

Conference CommitteeThe NAHAM Conference Committee has spent most of 2018 planning and carrying out the 44th Annual Conference that was held in Denver, Colorado, May 3-6. A lot goes into planning a conference, including developing a schedule, reviewing and selecting great educational content, choosing themes and our general session speakers, and providing input on promotion. It might be hard to believe, but the Conference Committee is already hard at work for the 45th Annual Conference! Save the date for April 23- 26, 2019 and join us in Orlando, Florida for another exciting conference with exceptional educationalcontent.

Education CommitteeThe Education Committee’s focus is on providing the best possible educational content to our members. They spearhead NAHAM’s effort to provide quality, relevant content for our members year-round. In 2017, they overhauled the CHAA study guide so that it matched the newly-released content outline developed by the Certification Commission. This year, they’ve encouraged our affiliates to provide NAHAM-Approved Contact Hours at their events by moving our application system online and making it much easier to navigate. Have an affiliate event coming up and want to provide NAHAM contact hours? Fill out an application on our new and improved web form! The NAHAM Education Committee has also identified potential webinar topics to fill our webinar calendar for the remainder of 2018. Be on the lookout for upcoming webinars around Patient Experience, Affordable Care, and more! As a reminder, webinars are free for members!

Membership CommitteeThe Membership Committee focuses on recruiting new members, and providing exceptional resources for current members! This year, the Membership Committee launched the “Refer a Member!” program, which rewarded any current member who recruited a friend or colleague to join NAHAM. They also were instrumental in redesigning our membership pages, which are now easier to navigate than ever before. The Membership Committee played a large part in organizing the President’s Reception at the AnnualConference which welcomes first time attendees and new NAHAM members The committee looks.,forward to brainstorming new ways to engage our valuable members for the remainder of 2018.

In April, the GR Committee hosted a webinar titled “New Medicare Cards Are Coming – Are You Ready?” This was a record-breaking webinar, with over 1,300 registrants! Expect moretangible resources soon from the Government Relations Committee as they continue to work hard through the remainder of the year.

Publications and Communications CommitteeThe Publications & Communications Committee develops and coordinates the production of publications that promote and communicate NAHAM's mission, objectives, goals, and activities. The Access Management Journal continues to be one of the more valuable member-benefits that NAHAM has to offer, producing quality information and education on a quarterly basis, with an opportunity to earn NAHAM- approved contact hours through the associated quizzes. As a member, you have access to the entire Access Management Journal archive; take advantage of that today!

Special Projects CommitteeThe Special Projects Committee serves the membership through its work on matters key to the mission of NAHAM but not currently addressed by other committees. In 2017, the Special Projects committee worked closely with NAHAM staff to produce the 2017 Salary and Benefits survey, which had not previously been updated since 2007. This item is available for purchase now, and NAHAM members receive a discount! This was a huge undertaking for the Special Projects committee and is a great resource for all Patient Access professionals.
