1A runners, the best in the state. With a mile to go and sitting around 25th, she reached deep and flew past runners strug-gling to maintain the brutal pace of a state race and placed 13th, with a time of 21:21:34. As a Junior, Mikayla stepped into her first track and field events with Ap-pleton City as part of the Co-Op between Montrose and Appleton City. At the WEMO conference she broke the long standing record for the 1600, held

by alumni Irene Rohlfing Komer with a time of 5:48. She qualified for State as a Junior in two events: the 1600 and 3200 meter races. She improved her 1600 time, breaking her own per-sonal best, running the event in 5:38, and placed fourth. In the 3200 meter event she again broke the Appleton City record set in 2007 by Amber Moore, run-ning with a time of 12:26, placing 5th in the state. A seasoned runner in both cross country and track,

Mikayla has a most impressive letter jacket, musically adorned with medals from multiple events throughout her high school career. Here in Montrose and Appleton City, we are excited to see what she achieves this spring. Mikayla is the first running athlete from Mont-rose to be recruited to par-ticipate at the next level after high school. We wish her the best of luck and the greatest success in running as a Northwest Bearcat.
