About our schools

Milawa and Oxley Primary Schools are located in the Milawa Gourmet Region, North East Victoria. The schools

have a combined population of approximately 170 students. Both schools have strong values around health

and wellbeing and engagement with the local community.

The purpose of this event is to raise funds to benefit the students at Milawa and Oxley Primary Schools. This

collaboration also provides a unique opportunity to develop a community event, which aligns with the health

and wellbeing focus of the schools.

Milawa Oxley Fox Run

Now in its fourth year, the Milawa Oxley Fox Run is a family focused event. It is a fun run with a difference,

combining obstacles, mud and colour in a bush setting.

The course is designed to appeal to all ages and fitness levels with some fantastic prizes up for grabs. The

main running events are the 2.5km, 5km and 7.5km. In addition to the fox runs, there will be plenty of

activities for kids, novelty races, helicopter flights, food and market stalls, plus the ultimate Fox raffle of 200

toy foxes aiming for a target winning $1000 cash voucher, plus lots of spot prizes to be won.

Spectators are invited to join the festivities with great view points across the course and lots of other

activities on the day including market stalls to browse, and a variety of food and beverages will be available

from 8.30ann until finish (approx 2:30pm). So whether you're a participant or a spectator there will be

something for everyone.

The home of the Fox Run is the Oxley Recreation Reserve on the Oxley/Meadow Creek Road, 3.5kms south of

Oxley. This Reserve is Crown Land and the ideal location to hold our event given its existing obstacles and

beautiful bush setting.

continue building a strong connection with the broader communities of Milawa and Oxley.

Mission

Continue to grow and develop a best practice event, and build upon the solid community following that has already seen the

Milawa Oxley Fox Run become the Rural City of Wangaratta Community Event of the Year 2017. Cementing our place on the

region's event calendar with an annual date set as the third Saturday in October.

Point of Difference

Unlike many fun runs, obstacle races and tough mudder events that are targeted at adults, the Milawa Oxley Fox Run is a

family focused event that is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. This event provides families with the opportunity to try

something different and run as a team, where parents and kids can have fun and laugh together whilst doing something to

increase their health and fitness. Many families may only do the 2.5km fox run but there is the opportunity to tackle the 5km

and 7.5km runs for those wanting something more challenging.

How the Fox Run has grown

Over a quarter of the participants are from outside of the Rural City of Wangaratta.

The 2.5km event remains the most popular, but over 20% of participants did the longest event, 7.5km.

Feedback from 2017

100% of participants rated the event as good or above and 70% as excellent.

Over 90% of participants rated it as good or above in terms of value for money.

The 2018 Fox Run

The 2018 Fox Run will again be the third Saturday of October—20 October 2018, at the Oxley Reserve.

Get involved

There are various ways in which you can be a part of the 2018 Fox Run and help us build a sustainable, community event for

the region and our kids, with plenty of opportunities for sponsors, food vendors, market­ stall holders and volunteer groups.

By generously donating your time, cash, goods or services you are directly benefiting over 170 local students from the Milawa

and Oxley primary schools. In 2017 we raised over $30,000 (surplus) from this event, providing much needed funds for both

schools.

In 2018 we are offering three ways to sponsor our event:

This year we are offering a major sponsorship for an overall supporter. The event supporter will badge the start and finish l ines

and the “bling” that each participant receives upon completion of their event. That’s your logo and brand into the hands of

over 1000 people.
