IHF PUMP MANUAL
I. Pump Brief Introduction
IHF fluorine-butterfly centrifugal pump is a single-stage
single-suction cantilever centrifugal pump, is the reference
standard API610, according to ISO2858 standard
non-metallic pump design and manufacture process,
corrosion resistance, high temperature resistant, not aging,
high mechanical strength, high efficiency and energy saving,
etc. Suitable for long-term transport any concentration of
acid, alkali, salt, strong corrosive medium such as strong
oxidizer.
The pump is widely used in: Automotive in pickling, spray painting process; non-ferrous metal smelting in
the electrolyte transport; ion touch of chlorinated caustic soda project, wastewater treatment and
processing acid process.
Design Features:
IHF type centrifugal pump according to international standards for the design, pump inside the metal
outer passenger lining plastic, impeller and pump cover are metal insert package fluorine plastic alloy to
suppress molding, shaft seal using advanced exterior-type bellows mechanical seal, the static rings use
99.9% alumina ceramic, moving ring with PTFE filler material, which is characterized by corrosion
resistance and good sealing performance.
Working temperature: -20℃ ~ 150℃
Capacity: 3~1200m3/hr

Step 1, disassemble the pump casing
(1), base plate (11), motor (10),
coupling cover (9), it will shown as
drawing on the left
Step 2, loose the locknut and the
screw on mechanical seal (6),
then loose the fasten bolts on the
pump casing
Step 3, after the above two steps, then
beat the draw-in bolts by cooper rod
to separate the impeller and shaft,
next take out impeller, casing and
mechanical seal (as drawing left)

IV. Flange Size
Step 4, take out the impeller, pump casing
and mechanical seal as drawing on the
left, loose the screw on the mechanical
gland, then pick out the static ring.
Take the new mechanical seal, then install
it as the turn in reverse.

Notices:
1. The pump should be installed on even concrete foundation;
2. There should be supports for pump suction and discharge;
3. The installation height should be less than its NPSHr requirements;
4. Please install with caution, ensure no tools or other objects in the pump;
5. After installation, please ensure shaft rotate smoothly;
6. Please collate pump rotation following the rotation mark;
7. Please maintain the pump and motor regular, stop at once in case of abnormal noise or overheat.

Overhead tank at positive pressure
Feature: pump is installed at the tank bottom, the liquid
in the tank at positive pressure, when the valve opens,
fluid can flow into pump automatically from the tank

Overhead tank at negative pressure
Feature: pump is installed at the tank bottom, the liquid
in the tank at negative pressure, please confirm the
pressure data then contact us for model selection
Low tank with thermosyphon without foot valve
Feature: pump is installed above the tank, there is a
thermosyphon tank beside the pump suction, fully filled the
thermosyphon tank at the first working, no water feed in the
future. It requires good seal, no air leakage. Calculation of
thermosyphon tank capacity as below:
V=(3~5)x π d²/4 x L
(d: inlet pipe diameter L: inlet pipe length V: tank capacity)
Low tank with foot valve
Feature: pump is installed above the tank, there is a foot valve
at the pump suction, fully filled the pump in advance each time
before working. In this way, please don’t start the pump if no
water filling.

IV. Usage and Maintenance
Installation and announcements
1. Make the concrete foundation as pump size, and embedded the bolts
2. Check the pump and motor whether there is object in the pump
3. Place pump and motor on the foundation, make the center of pump and motor in alignment by
wedge plates.
4. Make supports for pump suction and discharge. Make sure the pipeline diameter is uniform to
pump suction and discharge.
5. Please connect suction pipe at first, then add discharge pipe after water filled, and collate the
rotation direction. The suction pipeline should be less than 5meter.
6. Check the coupling whether friction.
7. Add filter on the suction to avoid objects into the pump, filter size should be 3-4 times bigger than
pipe cross section.
8. Please install non-return check valve for high head pump, in case of water hammer damage.
9. Ensure pump installation height match its NPSH requirements, and take consideration of pipe loss
and liquid temperature.
10. Make cooling device for over heat liquid.
Start and running
1, Turn off the gate valve on the discharge port and then fill the pump with liquid.
2, Turn on the power, checking the rotation of the pump.
3, Keep the pump running 3 to 6 minutes to see if it works normally.
4,Before turn off the power, please close the discharge valve.
Repair and maintenance
1, Checking the pump and driven motor periodically, replace the worn out parts
2, If unit keeps stop condition for long time, Please clean the pump and cut off the power.
3, Never run the pump dry. Running the pump without water may cause the pump to overheat, damaging the
seal and possibly causing burns to person(s) handling the pump. Fill the pump with water before starting.
Trouble and solution
No Water Delivered
· Pump not primed – indicated by no pressure on discharge.
· Speed too low – indicated by low pressure on discharge.

· Valve closed – indicated by high discharge head.
· Impeller completely plugged up – indicated by low discharge pressure.
Abnormally Small Quantities Delivered
· Air leaks in suction pipe or stuffing boxes.
· Speed too low.
· Discharge head higher than anticipated.
· Impeller partially plugged up.
· Obstruction in suction line.
· Mechanical defects: casing rings worn, impeller damaged, casing or seal defective.
Insufficient Pressure
· Speed too low. Might be caused by low voltage or current characteristics different from
nameplate reading on the motor.
· Air in water will cause the pump to make a cracking noise.
· Mechanical defects: worn casing rings, damaged impeller, defective casing or seal.
Intermittent Operation
· Leaky suction line.
· Water seal plugged (hence, a leaky stuffing box).
· Suction lift too high.
· Air, gas or vapor in liquid.
Pump Overloads Driver
· Speed too high.
· Head lower than rated, hence, pumping too much water. (This is valid for low specific speed
pumps).
· Mechanical defects: stuffing boxes too tight, shaft bent, rotating element binds.
· Rubbing due to foreign matter in the pump between the case rings and the impeller.
Pump Vibrates
· Misalignment.
· Foundation not sufficiently rigid.
· Impeller partially clogged.
· Mechanical defects: bent shaft, rotating element binds, bearings worn, coupling defective.
· Suction and discharge pipes not anchored.
· Pump cavitating from too high a suction lift.
· Air entrainment in the pump suction due to low submergence.
