25th Anniversary Year of Mililani’s All America City Award
ROAD WORK CONTINUES IN MILILANI MAUKA
Many of you have contacted my office inquiring about road work in Mililani
Mauka. I want to let everyone know that the City is contracting Alakona Corp. to
provide preventive maintenance, using slurry seal, for municipal streets in Mililani
Mauka. Slurry seal is cold mix asphalt which is used for sealing aged and raveled
pavements, filling minor cracks, restoring skid resistance and restoring a road's
aesthetic appeal. Local traffic will be able to access the roads that are being
worked on and city and federal services (trash pickup, mail delivery) will still be
available during work. Emergency vehicles will also be able to access the road.
Ala Kona is currently working on the area inside Ainamauka Drive loop. Street
maintenance work in Mililani Mauka will probably extend into 2013. Plans are
also underway to rehabilitate Meheula Parkway and Anania Drive next year.
Helping Mililani Ike Second Graders learn about government
Dear Friends,
It has been an eventful month, and soon we will be into the Holiday sea-son.
On September 21, Mililani High School will celebrate Homecoming with a parade and football game (the first Homecoming Game on our new turf!) I will participate in the parade and proudly attend the game.
Second graders at Mililani Ike were avid listeners in sessions at the school where we talked about government and the responsibilities of citizens.
I helped with the Lion’s Vision and Hearing screenings at Kipapa Ele-mentary, Mililani Mauka Elementary and Mililani Middle School. This is an impor-tant project to make sure our students can see and hear at optimum levels for learning.
On a somber note, we observed the 11th Anniversary of the 9-11 Attacks with various events in the community. The recent loss of our Ambassador to Libya was a sad reminder of the risks our diplomatic corps faces serving in embas-sies abroad. Our thoughts are with the families and survivors.
Aloha,
Marilyn Lee, Representative District 38
