Dear Parents and Community
JOINT SCHOOLS Last week, our Year 3 to 6 students travelled to Watheroo to participate in the Joint Schools STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) Camp with students from Coorow, Dandaragan, Eneabba, Badgingarra and Watheroo. The students were divided into four mixed groups where they completed a number of workshops across the two days. STEAM continues to be a focus with The Department of Education and allows many opportunities for our students to problem solve creatively. Thank you to the Watheroo team on organising and running the fantastic event and to Mrs Dennis, Mrs Seymour and Wil Cooper for attending on our behalf. Thank you also to Kade Georgy and Paul Seymour for running an afternoon sports sessions with the students. Congratulations and thank you also to our fabulous P&C, in particular Shilo Bailey and Clare Douglas, on catering for the 120 hungry mouths. Head to our website for more information and photos.
SCHOOL COMPLIANCE REVIEW Last week, we completed a four day School Compliance Review with The Department of Education. It was a good experience which reinforced just how lucky we are to have an excellent MCS (Manager Corporate Services) in Mrs Jones. Mrs Jones has a wealth of experience and has kept abreast of the changes made over her time in our school to ensure we are complying with the latest Departmental Policies and Acts.
ROBOCUP Throughout the term, Ryan Barnard, Hayden Topham and Lachlan McCuish have been travelling to Moora Friday afternoons to participate in Moora
Megabytes. Moora Megabytes is a coding and robotics club targeted at students who show an interest and ability to use technology to solve problems. It is a small group led by Moora Primary School’s specialist Digital Technologies teacher, Mrs Annaleis Topham, and is a highly selective program with students chosen by staff based on their Digital Technology skills and ability to problem solve, as well as their interest in the area of robotics. During their visits to Moora PS, the students have been coding a LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robot in preparation for the annual ILN RoboCup. Yesterday, our three students travelled to Dowerin for this competition and won their category. Congratulations to Ryan, Hayden and Lachlan on their win and to Mrs Topham for the hard work she has done to get our students to the high level of coding and programing they have demonstrated. Photos and videos will be coming soon.
JUMP ROPE Don’t forget that the Student Leaders have organised for our PP-Year 6 students to participate in Jump Rope For Heart this term. The school has registered students so all they need to do is gain sponsorship. Please ensure all forms and money are returned by next Wednesday.
REPORTS & PARENT INTERVIEWS Student reports will be sent home with your child on Thursday 28 June. Parent interviews have commenced and will continue until the end of term. Our students have worked very hard this semester to demonstrate their knowledge and skills, and our teachers are excited to speak with parents about this. Please ensure you make an appointment with your child’s teacher before the end of term to discuss their progress. Continued next page ...

Thank you P&C and staff for all your work at the Watheroo STEAM camp. It’s always a privilege to attend, spend time with students and see the amazing activities they get to do. I don’t have much to report on Game Factory as we’re still focusing on skipping. I’m pleased to see students are still skipping for fun and lunch and recess. I’ve also been impressed by the student leaders showing initiative as they step up and help organise skipping with the younger students. Thank you for your support,
Wil Cooper

ASSEMBLY Next Tuesday, we will have the Junior Assembly, followed by a visit to the classrooms for parents and families. We look forward to seeing you there.
CROSS COUNTRY The Colin Moore Memorial Cross Country Championships will be held in Dandaragan on Friday 29 June commencing at 12:00pm. Students are to arrive by 11:15am for a course walk at 11:30am. Our students have been training hard during fitness and are excited to compete. We would love to see as many spectators as possible to support our students.
Kind regards
