Description:

The Miller Heights Outfall Rehabilitation project was substantially completed on August 7, 2014, on time and within the budget. The project consists of stabilization of over 250 feet of eroded channel located near the intersection of Miller Road and Miller Heights Road. The goals of the outfall project were to address public safety concerns, stabilize a deeply eroded channel by using natural stream channel design, and provide enhanced water quality.

Project Overview:• Constructed a plunge pool below the existing culvert.• Utilizing a natural stream channel design method, six (6) single step rock cross vanes and four (4)

rock weirs were installed to allow a gradual change in the channel elevation and provided additional water quality benefits.

• Restored the site with seed mix, trees will be planted at the end of Sept. 2014. • Water quality benefits obtained include 34 (lbs./yr.) total phosphorus, 124 (lbs./yr.) total nitrogen,

and 64,820 (lbs./yr.) total suspended solids.
