Chief executive

Welcome to the Milton Keynes Theatre Autumn season

brochure. I am once again extremely pleased to present

another exciting selection of shows for people of all

ages to enjoy.

Offering an enjoyable mix of the very in best drama,

musicals, ballet and opera is always something we strive

to do – and this season is no exception with two brand new

companies touring to us for the very first time. English

National Ballet, the UK’s largest touring ballet company are

bringing Rudolf Nureyev’s faithful retelling of Shakespeare’s

Romeo and Juliet to us in november. With over 60 dancers,

a full orchestra and magnificent sets and costumes, enB are

guaranteed to be a very welcome addition to our already

spectacular programme. Also touring to us for the very

first time in november is Shakespeare’s Globe’s hilarious

and highly acclaimed production of The Merry Wives of

Windsor. described by the daily Telegraph as ‘The feel-

good hit of the summer’, I’m sure this brilliant

constructed comedy will be a must see.

This year you also have a great opportunity to end the

season roaring with laughter with the Ambassador

Theatre Group’s production of Monty Python’s

Spamalot. Starring EastEnders’ Todd Carty and

Emmerdale’s Amy Nuttall this hilarious musical

is on its first ever UK tour and is sure to leave

audiences in the perfect mood for Christmas.

Going forward on the Christmas theme, this

year’s pantomime title has changed from

Jack and the Beanstalk to Dick Whittington.

I know that this change may come as a

surprise – however, we have been given an

unexpected and unmissable opportunity to

present this fabulous new production of Dick

Whittington. We are working very closely

with the pantomime producer First Family

entertainment and I am looking forward to

announcing the news about this year’s exciting

cast very shortly. please watch this space!

I would like to thank you for your continuing

support of Milton Keynes Theatre and I very much

value your feedback on all aspects of your visit to MKT.

Many of you do get in touch, so please continue to email me

with your comments at elizabethadlingtonmkt@

deliciously hilarious and critically

acclaimed, Peter Hall’s production of

Bedroom Farce embarks on a national

tour following its smash-hit run in the West end.

emmy award-winning actress Juliet Mills leads an all-star cast;

her prolific career includes Wild at Heart, Oh! What a Lovely War,

The Elephant Man and Billy Wilder’s Avanti! which saw her nominated

for a Golden Globe for Best Actress. Joining her is hollywood husband

Maxwell Caulfield best known for his starring roles in Dynasty,

The Colbys, Grease 2 and most recently Emmerdale, in which he played

smooth-talking millionaire Mark Wylde whose dramatic demise sparked

one of the biggest storylines of last year. The glittering cast also

features Bruce Montague (Butterflies, Keeping Up Appearances,

Doctors), Clare Wilkie (EastEnders), Oliver Boot (Holby City,

Two Pints Of Lager And a Packet Of Crisps and Hotel Babylon)

and Julia Mallam and Ayden Callaghan who are best

known for their roles in ITV’s Emmerdale.

Four couples, three bedrooms, two celebrations, one blazing

row and an illicit kiss (or two)! Alan Ayckbourn’s ingenious

comedy shines a brilliant spotlight onto the trials and

tribulations of suburban marriage.

One of the most successful musicals of all time, this endearing

tale of little orphan Annie is back, giving a whole new generation

the chance to experience this enchanting musical about never giving

up hope. Annie is a gutsy 11 year old orphan who, being left on the

doorsteps of a new York City orphanage run by the cruel and crooked

Miss hannigan, is determined to find her real parents. In adventure

after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils the evil plans of dastardly

Miss hannigan and her devious brother, Rooster.

Winner of no less than 9 Tony Awards, including Best Musical

and also boasting one of Broadway’s most memorable scores,

including It’s a Hard-Knock Life, Easy Street, N.Y.C. and the ever-

optimistic Tomorrow, Annie is a delightful theatrical experience

for the entire family. It’s no wonder that this heart-warming

show has become a contemporary classic.

Starring x Factor’s

NIKI eVANSas Mrs Johnstone

Written by Willy Russell, the legendary Blood Brothers tells

the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth,

grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with

tragic consequences. Starring X Factor’s Niki Evans as Mrs Johnstone,

the superb score includes Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and

the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True.

Few musicals have received quite such acclaim as the

multi-award-winning Blood Brothers, and this production,

having recently celebrated its 21st phenomenal year in London,

continues to enjoy standing ovations at every devastating

performance. no wonder Blood Brothersis now

‘The MUSIcAl for All TIMe’.

‘I felt I mIght actually dIe of laughter’The IndependenT

and now for somethIng completely dIfferent...

Audiences all around the world have been roaring with

laughter since Monty Python’s Spamalot, by Eric Idle and

John DuPrez, won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2005.

Spamalot tells the legendary tale of King Arthur and the

Knights of the Round Table and features a bevy

(or possibly a brace) of beautiful show girls, witch burnings

not to mention cows, killer rabbits and French people.

The show features the hilarious songs He Is Not Dead Yet,

Knights Of The Round Table, Find Your Grail and

of course the nation’s Favourite Comedy Song

AlWAyS looK oN The BrIghT SIde of lIfe.

With Amy Nuttall, star of Emmerdale and more recently

Hotel Babylon as the Lady of the Lake and Todd Carty aka

Tucker, expert ice-skater and EastEnders stalwart as patsy,

don’t miss your night with the Knights of the Round Table

at the most infectiously funny musical of the millennium.

New Adventures’ new production of Cinderella

is a thrilling and evocative journey through

London during the Second World War. A chance

meeting results in a magical night for Cinderella

and her dashing young RAF pilot, together just

long enough to fall in love before being parted

by the horrors of the Blitz.

Matthew Bourne’s vivid storytelling has

never been more heart-stopping and touching,

creating a unique and unforgettable depiction

of a familiar and beloved fable.
