Mindfullness in Tuscany Walking Meditation, Yoga & Pilgrimage
Loving Tuscany Tours offer walking meditation and
yoga courses along the scenic Via Francigena,
the ancient pilgrim route through the ‘cultural
triangle’ in Tuscany.
Each day we walk a section of the beautiful Via
stopping off along the way at ancient monasteries
passing the towers of San Gimignano to Siena.
The Loving Tuscany Tour in August includes the
famous Pallio horse race in Siena and a pilgrimage
with meditation south to the Tuscan border.
Each evening we return you to our lovely old
farmhouse, Casa Quintino deep in the country-
side: no sound of traffic, nor sight of
power lines, surrounded by a pristine
countryside where wild boar and deer
roam, a nature lover’s delight and an
escape from the stresses of modernity.

The Via Francigena is the ancient pathway, like
the better known Camino in Spain, but totally
uncrowded. It was used by pilgrims and cru-
saders walking from England to Rome and
onto the Holy Land - first recorded by British
Archbishop Sigerac (989-994). We provide a
comfortable base limited to 6 people, from
which to explore what is considered by experts
as the most beautiful portion of the Via, ena-
bling you to walk without a back pack, at your
own pace, avoiding all traffic and tar roads.
Pick up at Pisa Airport and drop off are includ-
ed as well daily transport and half board.

Meditation and Pilgrimage - Walking the Via Francigena - Iyengar Yoga in Arcadia A practisng Buddhist for 25 years, Ani
Tsondru, renounced her career as a
environmentalist/lawyer to enter a 7
year closed retreat in Spain, as a full
time nun and practitioner of Tibetan
Buddhism. A well-known meditation
teacher based in Cape Town, she leads groups in
walking meditation in the South African wilderness.
From her many pilgrimages along the Camino in
Spain, Tsondru brings her contemplative skills to
Tuscany to focus on the 4,000 years of spirituality
found in a range of centres of spirituality from the
medieval Christian monasteries to a more recent
Tibetan Buddhist Centre in the Tuscan hills.
Debbie Rivers-Moore has been practising yoga for 20 years having studied with senior teachers from the Iyengar world both in the UK and in India, while running her own publishing company. In 2019 she led a group
to Nepal in the Himalayas incorporating yoga into the daily trek
Yoga is the union of the body, mind, breath and spirit. The Iyengar lineage focuses on precision of the physical body in asanas (yoga postures), to enable the breath to become even, the mind calm and the spirit rejuvenated. The course offers a combination of yoga based at the peaceful Refugio of Casa Quintino and evening walking to little known monasteries nearby.
Anthony and Juliet Waterkeyn are your hosts, Juliet (who
speaks basic Italian) designs and organises the Tours, to
provide an insider’s experience of Italy with scenic picnics of
regional specialities and good local wine, as well as back up
on all hikes. Anthony provides the transport and as a
seasoned trekker, having walked the Camino and the
Himalayas. is available to guide you along the Via if
required. They have spent the last 30 years carefully renovat-
ing Casa Quintino from a ruin to a charming Refugio. They
rent out to self-catering groups when there are no courses
being held. www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/3202622/
