Purpose IAPS (Centre of Industry Accelerator and Patent Strategy, National Chiao Tung University) is a university-affiliated and tech-focused startup accelerator. In order to drive the commercialization of academic R&D results and to advance the growth of tech startups on a global scale, IAPS offers iCAN project and global acceleration programs at Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA) under the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology. In 2020, IAPS’s 4 th batch of TTA acceleration program focus on 3 main themes: Investment, Corporate Innovation and Global Market Entry. We are looking for tech startups in AI, IoT, ICT, AgriTech, FoodTech, Biomedical Tech, Green Energy Tech, Circular Economy, Digital Lifestyle Services and Sports Tech to join our IAPS-TTA to receive extensive mentoring and matchmaking with local and global investors, corporates and other ecosystem builders. Ministry of Science and Technology - TTA+ iCAN

IAPS Startup Acceleration Program

A. Purpose

IAPS (Centre of Industry Accelerator and Patent Strategy, National Chiao Tung University) is a

university-affiliated and tech-focused startup accelerator. In order to drive the commercialization of

academic R&D results and to advance the growth of tech startups on a global scale, IAPS offers

iCAN project and global acceleration programs at Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA) under the support of

the Ministry of Science and Technology.

In 2020, IAPS’s 4th batch of TTA acceleration program focus on 3 main themes: Investment,

Corporate Innovation and Global Market Entry. We are looking for tech startups in AI, IoT, ICT,

AgriTech, FoodTech, Biomedical Tech, Green Energy Tech, Circular Economy, Digital Lifestyle

Services and Sports Tech to join our IAPS-TTA to receive extensive mentoring and matchmaking

with local and global investors, corporates and other ecosystem builders.

D. Qualifications

1. A registered startup company or a to-be-registered research spin-off

2. Product/service is tech-based

3. Product/service involves an innovative technology and/or innovative business model

and is in urgent need to grow and scale-up.

【Application Proposal】, Attachment 02【Affidavit Letter】, and please upload a 10-15 page

【Business Plan Deck】. Any late or incomplete submission will not be accepted upon the

application deadline.

2. In-person Interview

1. Invited applicants will give a 6-minute pitch to the judge panel plus 4 minutes of

Q&A (Total 10 minutes).

2. The judge panel will consist of professional investment firms, corporates, angel

investors and other industry experts.

3. Please have the CEO or core team member to represent the startup and present to the

judge panel.

4. The results will be announced on IAPS’s official website (https://iaps.nctu.edu.tw) , iCAN's website (http://ican-iaps.com.tw/) and our Facebook page.

G. Acceleration Program

1. Once a selected startup is admitted into the acceleration program, the program will

run for 4 months, where the content and activities will be tailor-made to each

individual startup’s status and needs.

2. The program will provide customized resources such as expert mentoring, domestic

and overseas exhibition opportunities, fundraising and business development

services.

1. Mentorship:The program will invite industry and academic experts from

fields related to the startups to act as mentors, and to give lectures, coaching,

seminars, bootcamps and other activities that are diverse in course content and

depth.

2. Corporate Engagement:In order to drive collaborations between corporates

and startups, the program will provide the network and guidance to effectively

introduce new product and technology into the supply chain of large and

medium-sized corporates.

3. Fundraising:The program will invite venture capitals, angel investors and

corporate investment departments to participate in investor matchmaking events,

business opportunity matchmaking and other related events to maximize

startups’ fundraising channels and opportunities. Multiple partnering funds of

IAPS will also involve heavily during the application review period and

throughout the program.

4. Domestic and Overseas Marketing Channels:The program

will provide exclusive opportunities for startups to participate in various

international events and activities with the support of our global partners

(Startup Go!Go! from Fukuoka, Japan / Accrete Innovation from Singapore /

BIC, NSTDA from Bangkok, Thailand / ISBA from India / TBV Capital from

Malaysia), such as large expos and business matchmaking events.

H. Incentives

1. TTA Residency: 10,000 NTD of space access fee.

2. Corporate POC/NRE:

a. Qualifications: Signed POC/NRE collaboration with a corporate, to apply for a

subsidy of 0.5 million to 1million NTD.

b. Processes: If the application qualifies for the subsidy, upon completing the

necessary procedures set by IAPS and the designated execution unit, the startup

will first receive 80% of the applied subsidy amount. Upon providing the related

documents, receipts and invoices within the program timeline, and after these

documents have been fully inspected and confirmed by IAPS and the designated

execution unit, the startup will then receive the remaining 20%.

c. The details of the subsidy application guidelines will be provided to the selected

startups of the 2020 #2 batch.

3. International Events: For global events, exhibitions and other opportunities for

exposure that are related to IAPS’s global partners, IAPS can provide subsidies to

selected startups from the program, which can be used toward plane tickets,

accommodation, exhibition booths, market development and related expenses. The

specific amount will be will be determined by IAPS and will follow the official travel

expenses regulations.

1. Rights

Selected startups have access to the different resources as arranged by IAPS according

to the different status of each individual startup, including training courses and forums,

1-on-1 extensive expert mentoring, investment, domestic and overseas startup events,

business development, corporate matchmaking, etc..

2. Obligations

(1) Cooperate with the sharing and publishing of startup experience, company

stories, public demos, and to participate in related marketing activities.

(2) Agree to provide IAPS with company status updates, such as company

introduction, trademark, contact information, investment capital, sales, operation

status, etc., that will be tracked for data collection and analysis.

(3) Provide truthful information about the company. If the reported information is

found to have violated the nature and practice of the current program or is

misrepresented, the program reserves the right to terminate the startup’s

participation in the program and request the return of all subsidies.

J. Other Notices

IAPS reserves the right to change the details of the program.

IAPS Startup Acceleration Program – TTA + iCAN

In participating the IAPS TTA + iCAN acceleration program, I confirm the originality of the technology and product I have proposed and will follow the related application regulations. 2. I confirm the ownership of the intellectual property rights of the technology and product I have proposed and do not infringe any other intellectual property rights. Infringements of intellectual property rights will lead to an immediate program disqualification and return all received subsidies to IAPS. 3. I am liable for any plagiarism of other people's idea or infringement of any business secrets, intellectual property rights or other actions that led to a violation of the rights of a third party. I shall bear the costs and legal liabilities should a third-party brings a claim against IAPS. 4.
