EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY MINISTRY SUPPORT DEPARTMENT RECEPTIONIST & MINISTRY SUPPORT ASSISTANTS Opening Date: February 5, 2013 Closing Date: February 25, 2013 POSITION OVERVIEW The administrative and support ministry is a group of paid and volunteer staff who work together to help build of the Kingdom of God through managing ongoing business operations at Messiah Community Church. Our purpose is to build and support healthy relationships with other staff and members to achieve our ministry objective of "Healing and strengthening lives and families, one person at a time, through faith in Jesus Christ". Our ministry functions to ensure accuracy and efficiency in managing the business affairs of the church. The administration and support ministry seek to provide a Christ minded spirit of service to the church body. We aim to be wise stewards over the resources that God has provided for our ministry. The Receptionist and Ministry Support Assistants are jointly responsible for demonstrating Christian Hospitality at all times. This team serves as the first point-of-contact and the telephone voice of MCC. It is imperative to have a desire to provide exceptional service. Incumbents are expected to perform graciously as they receive and speak with guests and members, on behalf of the Ministry. Dependability, communication, strong writing, typing, and organizational skills, and being a team player are vital. These positions provide direct support to all the ministries of Messiah Community Church. Incumbents will be responsible for serving at the MCC Ministry Center and/or the Worship Center. These positions report to the Director of Ministry Support. RESPONSIBILITIES The Spirit of Hospitality is the hallmark of the administrative staff. Demonstrating the warmth of welcome and graciously receiving all people into the Lord’s house is a requirement. Answer a multi-line telephone console in a timely, excellent customer service manner. Greet and be attentive to MCC members and guests in a hospitable and professional manner. Provide scheduling information regarding ministry activities, worship services, Bible study, Power for Living Institute, weddings, funerals, and special & major events, etc. Distribute correspondence to department heads and ministry leaders. Maintain an up-to-date copy of MCC Annual Calendar and be knowledgeable of all upcoming events. Ensure copiers and fax machines are in working order and supplied with appropriate paper. Provide facility directions to the guests and members when needed. Must have an attitude of service demonstrated through availability, compassion, creativity, decisiveness, dependability, diligence, flexibility, initiative, loyalty, and sensitivity.

• Assist with distribution and inventory of ministry storage items and lost/found items.• Daily maintain the overall appearance and functionality of the Ministry Center so guests

receive a warm welcome and staff can function efficiently.

Qualifications• Must be saved, have an active prayer life, have a servant’s heart and support the vision of

Messiah Community Church.• Must have at least two years of customer service and demonstrated telephone etiquette

experience.• Must have excellent organizational skills, initiative, accuracy and attention to detail.• Must function well in a cross cultural environment, have a teachable spirit, be a team player,

and demonstrate good communication skills both verbal and written.• The ability to maintain confidentiality is required. • Must be team oriented and flexible in demeanor and work schedule.• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook and the Internet.• Must be able to operate on an Apple OS environment.• Must have an eye for details with follow-up and follow-through skills• Must be resourceful, have initiative and the ability to multi-task with a smile.• Must have strong interpersonal skills and work ethic.• Must know your spiritual gift and temperament.

Position:Receptionist/Ministry Support Assistant: Monday-Friday 8:30AM-1:30PMReceptionist/Ministry Support Assistant: Monday-Thursday 12:30PM-5:30PM
